Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 28
Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 28. Back so soon? Hopefully these random deadlines will be playing havoc with your mini-league rivals. And equally, hopefully not with you. Before we move on then, it’s probably worth noting that the next deadline is on Saturday, a mere 3 1/2 days from now. That one will be less of a surprise, but it’s always worth knowing.
Tuesday looks like a parade of the perennially mid-table / relegation battlers. Cardiff could actually go within 5 points of Everton with a win and we aren’t sure if that says more about Neil Warnock or less about Marco Silva. Huddersfield are pretty much done for and the Wolves are at the door. Brighton are not safe yet and will be looking to pull Puel closer to his own exit. Neither Newcastle or Burnley are mathematically safe just yet, a win for either would be a big step towards being so.
Wednesday brings an altogether more positive atmosphere with the big guns all on show. Sort of. Arsenal kick us of in pursuit of their main prize against Bournemouth; 4th place. Southampton and Fulham continue to defy our criteria with a true relegation battle. Chelsea and Spurs then look to threaten it, before the real big boys come in to play as Palace (no, not you!) host Man United, Liverpool grapple with Watford and Man City play with West Ham.
The games in full…

Evening, what should I do here? I’ve got 2 fts and 2.5 itb. I’m thinking Auba to Kun but also thinking about doing Jota to one of the following:
Almiron
Maddison
D.Gray
Auba to Aguero definitely makes sense but I don’t know if I’d want to lose a player just before they played Cardiff at home.
Hi all,
I have read many of your thoughts about the strategies on how to use the chips. Here is my (temporary) take on it.
First, my situation: I have all my chips, and presently have 6 players playing GW31 (3 Pool), 9 DGW32 (2 certain).
The question is for me at this point really is: FH in 31 or in 32.
In both cases I would WC in 33. In the former case, I’d TC/BB in 32, and use the other chip in 34. In the latter, I’d use TC/BB (probably BB) in 34, TC either in 36-37 (single game week, then).
I really could not see an obvious better option, particularly with the DGW32 schedule unknown. So I have tried to evaluate the benefits of both strategies.
First, in favour of GW31:
* Obviously, field 11 players in GW31.
So 3 more than without playing it (I have 3 transfers until then, and one will be to do Auba->Kun). Additionnally, they would be better chosen – among the few big teams that play this GW.
So let us say that it would give me 3×2 extra points for 3 extra players, and, say, 5 to 10 for a better choice of players. So +10 to +15 points total.
* I’d be able to play the TC chip during a DGW. A captain performs correctly if he scores, say, 8 points. So using the TC in a DGW brings an extra 8 points. (This is probably overestimated since choosing a capitain that plays both games, and scores 8 points in the lowest scoring game, is far to be easy!)
* My GW30 transfer (29 is for Kun in my case) would be for a player from a big team (City, Spurs), rather than a BGW31 player which would be probably from Chelsea. Probably a little bit better, but quite hazardous to take that small effect into account.
So, all in all, this strategy would bring me something like 20 points, compared with not playing any chip.
Now, in favour of FH in DGW32:
* Obviously, I’d field 11 DGW players in 32.
– I could do something similar with the other strategy by exploiting my transfers until then. Ok, I’d do slightly worse because I would’nt be able to reshuffle my team, so count 5 points less (probably underestimated as Speroni and Obi-Wan are 2 of my present DGW players, for instance). So that makes 5 times 2 for the 2 GWs of the double!
But then, I’d be in a bad shape for GW33. I’d have a handful of players, plus maybe a couple of unexpected big teams having lost in the cup. But I’d be happy to field 7 players, so probably a 15 to 20 points loss versus the FH32 strategy. Best case scenario.
– The alternative would be to have a balanced policy of transfer until GW32-33. So say 8 good DGW32 players, and 9 BGW33 players. FH31 would then loose 3x4x2=24 points in 32 (I went with a rough estimate of 4 points per game for the 11 DGW players of my dream team), and 2×3=6 points in 33. Very rough estimation, again.
So in any case, something like a 30 points advantage there for FH32.
* Another, yet even less quantifiable advantage of FH32, is that I could adapt to non-occuring DGW32, even if announced late (as can be expected).
So all in all, I am clearly in favour the FH32: +20 for FH31 (with a feeling of overestimation), +30 for FH32 (conservative). I’d expect it to bring more points, and less uncertainty (ability to choose the DGW32 team by knowing the DGW schedule!) with FH32.
Of course, this is based on very crude estimations, and the conclusion may differ depending on the present state of your team.
But these rapid computations helped me to make up my mind!
Hey guys,
Im currently plotting my route through to GW35, and my life would be much easier if I went for Higuian this week rather than Aguero.
I need a slight bit of convincing though…
Can anyone see that Higuian with good fixtures in a rejuvenated Chelsea can be at least as good an option as an exhausted Aguero, in all competitions, and with Jesus returning?
If anyone can offer me some hope that this is the right thing to do, I would greatly appreciate it!
Hope’s not enough son, ask your parents.I don’t know. Pep’s words sent a shiver down my spine, though the Mendy stuff was a weird coda to all this Kun gloom. Poor exhausted Kun.I dunno Elcfc. Chelsea are a bit up and down at the moment. But nice fixtures. GW31. I’ve seen virtually nothing of Higuian. Play your own game. Go for it.
That DGW 32 AND playing in GW 33 just makes life so much easier as an FPL manager!
I’m extremely tempted
Just do it. If it works out you can claim you are tuned into the visionary pitch. It it crashes you can claim a curse has been put on your side. He isn’t a terrible pick at all and Fulham is a good first game to try him out.
I’m likely to hedge my bets re Chelsea but he’s (H) a possible for forward for me in 31.
Evening all
What should I do with this lot for GW29?
I have 1 FT & 0.5 ITB
Son out Mane in? Or try and sort out that bench a little bit?
Haven’t got enough, tempted to do luiz to VVD or TAA
I’d keep Luiz for the Fulham game.
Could do luiz and son to TAA and mane?
I’d roll the transfer and look ahead to next week unless you feel you won’t be able to put out a full team next GW.
would say to roll the ft mitro but maybe balbuena to one of the brighton defenders ?
All the chat is about GW 31 to GW33, but nothing on the following GWs. Is there going to be another DGW between 34 and 37? If so which GW is favourite?
35, when some, myself included, will probably roll out BB.
Kralin,
If it’s not a trade secret, will you also roll out your WC in 34? Thanks-sweating out the c+p.
Yes, I will be doing that.
Someone earlier made a very intelligent comment about the advantage of FH in 32 (which I also plan to do). Geezer has a nice grav too. I’ll find it and comment on it.
Vinci. On the next page. I’m onto chapter 6 of it so far myself
Kralin,
Thanks for that. I’ll sleep easier.
May your dreams be as sweet as you are.
Evening all,
Am I correct in assuming that only Wolves & Man Utd have a DGW in 32?
Thanks!
So far yes.
There surely will be more teams with a DGW32, the fixtures are just yet to be confirmed and might not be till after GW31 if I remember correctly
Yes that’s right.
Thanks Both!
