Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 4.

After a wonderful GW3 where we all scored big points and played all those wildcards perfectly we head into another slate of games which I am sure will bring us equal joy.

And what better way to get a points filled GW going then Chelsea and their high flying Timo Werner where he is sure to single-handedly dismantle Palace, showing off once again the brilliance that Fat Frank has taken full advantage of so far. That early game is followed by three more encounters all nicely spread out for us so we have more time to enjoy and gloat about our great decisions when selecting a team.

In the second fixture we get a chance to watch the washed up James Rodriguez and the non scoring duo of DCL and Richarlison tangle with relegation bound Brighton and their Chelsea leftover (Lamptey) at right wingback.

Leeds and Man City are up next in what is likely a 5-2 win for City, wouldn’t be shocked if Leeds gave up 3 penalties.

In the last game of the day we see Saudi owned Ashley owned Newcastle and their 200 20 million pound signing Mbappe Callum Wilson go at the Burnley backline and Sean Dyche’s innovative low-to-no pressing scheme.

Those four fixtures are followed up by six on Sunday. We get started with two early games. Leicester take on West Ham in a match up the ancient Jamie Vardy versus West Ham’s future star Diangana, who I hear has already scored this FPL season. Sounds like he will fetch them a lot of money in 2-3 years when they go to sell him, good for them. In the other game Saints take on West Brom and some kid named Diangana who seems to be doing well, what a coincidence.

After the early two we see another pair of games at the same time. One game sees the ever improving Arsenal (checks standings notices they are tied on points with Villa, Palace and Leeds) match up against a team we all expect big things from; Sheffield (checks standings notices they are in the relegation zone on zero points) United. That game coincides with Fulham’s visit to Wolves. This is bound to be an interesting game as Fulham surely learned their lesson from the last time they were in the Premier (checks standings, oh FFS!!!) League.

The fifth game of the day pits Man United and their interesting no tactics approach against Spurs and their boring tactics approach. To be fair to Jose though I heard he has added a new wrinkle to his jaded approach in having proven goal scorer Harry Kane create opportunities so unproven goal scorers can try and score. Will be interesting to see what Ole with this information, will he choose to play candy crush or possibly change to words with friends for this game.

The last fixture of the gameweek brings us Villa playing host to the complacent Liverpool. Villa won’t have six points before Christmas and Liverpool having won the PL last season won’t have the sort of drive to win it again, don’t waste your time with this game.

The games in full…

OK, apart from our usual ups and downs in FPL it’s noticeable that 172 goals have been scored since the start of the season. Must be some record.
Perhaps, no crowds around motivates players more :unknw:

Another oddity IMO is that even in a 7-2 spanking, Salah is currently sitting on a single bouns point.

      • Socking but welcoming at the same time 😯

Thanks for the kind thoughts Kralin – yes you’re right about captaincy choices. I also appreciate your comments about the 2 suggested moves. Who would you remove for Roddie? KDB is the likely one for me – e’en tho’ he is reputedly (as of the 2019 season) THE best player in the EPL. However, as others have mentioned, Salah and Fernandes are both penalty takers.
Would you do the moves progressively, or save a trade and do it for GW6? I’m sure you would not be advising me to take another -4, now there, would you? Hahaha – I shall in any case try some of your musical choices too, to see what lurks inside the Kralin mind! smile

      • Kralin says:

Never doubted him for a second.

Shame there weren’t further anomalies, like the Liverpool defenders getting 3 BPS despite the cascade of goals.

Well-played Villa. What a fantastic result for them.

        • OddDane says:

Kralin, did you watch the game? Thoughts on keeping (any) Liverpool defensive assets?

        • Kralin says:

No. I was watching a silly Japanese cop thriller called ‘Cure’. One person was horribly bludgeoned to death – which sounds not unlike the events in deepest Aston.

I’ll be keeping both of mine, unless injuries get in the way. The game versus Everton could be truly bonkers – they will fancy themselves plus Liverpool will have their currently ill contingent back (including the goalie, I sincerely hope).

I think things are so wild and unpredictable that chasing things is probably unwise.

What are your thoughts, he asked politely.

        • Brookyboy says:

Klopp has come out and said Alisson could be out for up to 6 weeks !! Pool defence could be an avoid while karius mark 2 is in goal !

        • OddDane says:

Sound reasoning – and kudos for spending your time more wisely..!

Well I get that we hold the likes of TAA for their offensive returns, but we do that because it’s icing on the cake (the cake being the whitest of bedsheets).
That is a bit of a worry this year, both the Leeds and Arsenal game showed some meaningful defensive blunders… I’m certainly not keeping double up, but thinking keeping none to be honest.

        • AJW says:

Hello there Kralin – have missed your presence (although everybody on here is kind in their advice) and benevolent comments (and irony, although Innit has a very keen sense of this too). I suspect that you have been preoccupied with other matters (work, life, the Plague etc). I however have been religious in my pursuit of futility, but still cannot take a break in FPL. I have given in to panic reflexes and have already taken 2 -4 hits, neither of which were conclusive, but hopefully will pay off in the long term.
What do you advise wise Kralin? I was tempted to WC, but this would be merely panicking on a larger scale. I suspect I shall hold on and just trade down N’Ketiah (oh the promise of a differential was too great and have held for 4 weeks now!) to Brewster to provide some ‘pin money’ for future purchases. I did try to analyse other higher ranked teams and apparently the major difference would be their inclusion of James Rodriguez from Everton. I don’t know that I’d really want to give up one of my big 3 (Bruno, KDB or Mo S) for the ‘flavour of the month’. I’m really at my wit’s end and feel guilty each time (like a hangover) I realise how many spots 4 points represents at this stage of the season.
I know also that it would be a good idea to replace 4m defender Douglas with someone who actually plays & saw that a 4m Wolves DEF actually got bonus points last night. SO there we go – tis all on a plate, but I’m not really sure of how to deal with it.
Sorry to bother you (or anyone who is willing to give advice), and I am probably overreacting!!!
Bye for now & (btw), you might like to listen to 70s 80s Oz rock legends The Angels’ rendition of ‘After the Rain’ (wink wink!) – I listen to it when I want to ‘lash out’ at the world! Honestly it’s great stuff! smile

        • Kralin says:

          Evening AJW.

I have a semi-ritual of naming my side after whatever album I’m playing when I press auto-complete at the start of another season. It was Terje Rypdal’s album I’m afraid, not your chums. The only Aussie ensemble I’m familiar with to any depth are The Necks. I know what you mean about something noisy and violent to play sometimes. ‘Rocket USA’ by Suicide is the one I usually reach for.

Advice, blimey. I have a weird and unbalanced side but have got away with it because I’ve captained Salah most of the time. If you get the captaincy choice right then you can hide a multitude of sins. I’d maybe downgrade one of your expensive mids. Rodriguez is fine to get for now and has a handy price. I’d throw Nketiah over as soon as possible – no point in having someone in your starting XI who barely plays. So maybe Rodriguez and Vardy or Kane or Jiminez.

        • AJW says:

Oops replied in the wrong spot – here it is again. (Old AJW seems to be losing it! ‘Nah he never fully grasped any plot he was presented with! The guy was senile from the age of 5!’)
“Thanks for the kind thoughts Kralin – yes you’re right about captaincy choices. I also appreciate your comments about the 2 suggested moves. Who would you remove for Roddie? • Kralin says:

I’d throw over your infrequently starting striker first, though appreciate you may need to downgrade a mid in order to replace him with someone tasty.

KdB is on penalties, isn’t he? I could be wrong. It’s never easy to suggest who should stay and who should go. Let your deepest feelings guide you there, AJW. But I would have said ditching your striker for someone decent, plus the ace Everton mid, should more than compensate for whoever you choose to boot out.

Are Mitchell and Justin expected to be replaced after the IB?

Can’t get a grip of this season at all. 46 after using wc, and now I’m seriously considering a – 12 to bring in son James chillwell and brewster for klich Bruno Justin and mauypay. Oh God.

      Kralin says:

I wouldn’t do that. Just have a stiff drink or some other treat.

I wouldn’t try to chase things too much – and I certainly wouldn’t go early with the plague running wild everywhere now in the UK plus internationals to further complicate things.

Apologies for the excessive use of ‘wouldn’t’ – probably delayed shock setting in.

I bought in brewster on my wc (was happy as a 3rd bencher) but hoping he got a move. I wont take him in until we see if he starts

    Can anyone beat this?
GW4: Subbed out Son and Watkins = lost 38 points.
GW3: Subbed out Vardy and Fernandez = lost 29 points.
GW2: Subbed out Son and Mane = lost 40 points.

Total of 107 points down in 3 weeks

Is it worth bringing back Son now even though its Internationals time? Does he have an international game?
His price is due to rise tonight.
