Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 5

Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 5. We can but hope that this article doesn’t come as a surprise to you on a Friday evening and that you aren’t currently sat there thinking “either they’ve made a big mistake, or I’ve made an even bigger one!”. Well, we haven’t, and we are really sorry if you did!

The game-week begins with yet another uninspiring televised clash, as Bournemouth host Brighton on Friday night. Not one that many people will be hurriedly cancelling Friday night plans for then. If you do feel so compelled though you can always rearrange those plans for about 12:30pm on Saturday to coincide with the next woeful TV offering – Crystal palace vs Southampton. Seriously, we pay good money for this stuff. Add those to last week’s run of Burnley vs Palace / Swansea vs Newcastle / West Ham vs Huddersfield, and with the greatest of respect to the teams involved there can anyone ever recall a worse run of 5 televised games?!

Deep breaths.

Onto Saturday’s 3pm fare then, and we have five games, many of which will hold a fantasy football interest –

Huddersfield will hope to improve on their poor showing on Monday night as they host Leicester.

Liverpool, sans Mane, have a potentially plum home game with a Burnley team who traditionally don’t travel that well.

Newcastle and Stoke may hold more interest in the handshake shenanigans than any on the field activities.

Watford, having had a strong start, will look to test a potentially vulnerable Man City back line in what may be a very entertaining fixture, perhaps not so much if you own defenders from either side.

West Brom and West Ham may have the antidote to the above though, just in case you get over excited.

Saturday evening returns us to the television and at least this time there is some semi entertainment as Spurs will be looking for a first PL win at Wembley against an ailing Swansea

Sunday does finally bring some strong games back to the big screen. Arsenal host Chelsea in the early one and then Man United play Everton in the late one to bring our game-week to a close.

  1. What to do here. I certainly have the Aguero itch.

    • To be honest Smash not sure your team needs any changes although I have itchy fingers but I haven’t got Luk the only way into Kun would be raise 1m from Mkhit which might do it if you can’t wait 😉

      • I’d prob do it through Rambo or Davies rather than losing Mkhi. But I do have Jesus anyway. I find it really annoying Aguero might rise again tonight

  2. This is my current squad… but, if I’m honest – rightly or wrongly – I’m not sure I trust De Bruyne and Firmino for consistent point-scoring… and there are other players I’d love to have in my team!

    So…

    • I dont like Liverpool’s fixtures a lot to be fair. Leicester, United and Spurs in the next 4 GWs. I think Firmino can be ignored. If you have 2 FTs, Id be tempted to bring in Aguero by downgrading KDB.

If no FTs, well, then Id stay on this team. Maybe KDB > Silva for 1 FT, but that seems too sideways at this point.

    • … here are two other squads I’m considering going to…

My questions to you all is – what would you do?

      1) stick with my current squad,
      2) change to Team A
      3) change to Team B

What do you think I should do?

    • So…who would you love to have in your team then?

      • Players I’d love to get into my team:

        – Jesus
        – Kane
        – Salah
        – Davies
        – Walker
        – Alonso

Obviously, the all come at a premium, and there aren’t enough places/funds for all of them.

I can settle for not having Kane if I have Eriksen.

But I like Salah and Jesus a whole lot more than Firmino. I’m just not sure whether im prepared to lose Morata to finance this. On the plus side – downgrading Morata helps me boost my defenders!

        • You get five out of six of them with your last squad, and of those Alonso is quite probably the one to live without for a few weeks. I wouldn’t wildcard to get to it though – the players you’ve got are decent anyway with good fixtures, so it can be done over about 3 GW’s with hits. Depends on your wildcard/hits strategy really.

  3. Anyone fancying a 4 man defence moving forward, especially those on WC.

Jones – Alonso – Davies – Kolas being the obvious picks.

    • Decent back 4 there. I don’t think a back 4 is a bad idea but that’s a lot of cash there which you might need for the forwards

    • I’m on a WC and considering it. Who do you think will score more out of Kolosinac & Ritchie? That’s kinda what my decision comes down to.

  4. … here are two other squads I’m considering going to…

My questions to you all is – what would you do?

    1) stick with my current squad,
    2) change to Team A
    3) change to Team B

What do you think I should do?

  5. Evening all

    Which is the better option?

    A. Alonso to kolasanic
    B. Eriksen/Alli to miki

    Current team

    • I don’t like either to be honest

      • Any other suggestions mate?

        • Hernandez is the problem for me but can’t see an easy fix.

        • I agree, these moves are to free up some cash so I can shift little poo next week probably for firmino and richarlison to grob

        • But I’d prefer Alonso and the Spurs boys on their own so unless your doing both you might as well leave it and take the hit next week

        • It would be an -8 next week if I don’t do one of the above moves

        • Yeah but it’s a -4 this week for a worse player ain’t it

    • Fixtures suggest Alonso to kolasanic for me. Man Utd are up against a solid defence for probably the first time this season at SOU so might not be as rampant as recently.

  6. Evening chaps, anyone see anything I need to do here? Original plan was to bank the 1ft and use 2 next wk if need be but Agueros recent haul and subsequent price rises are making think I need to decide tonight! Lukaku out Aguero in?

    • O.2itb

    • I can’t see any way of getting city coverage for the c palace fixture without doing the above move but seeing as man u face them after seems a bit pointless, although I do have mhiki! It’s only Monday night ffs, why’s everyone driving kuns price up ?

      • Or…… I could do Lukaku out Aguero in then switch them back the following week?

        • My Defense take a hammering in gw 7 though – Not worried about Huddersfield v spurs but the others are:
          Chelsea v citeh
          West Brom v Watford
          Newcastle v liverpool

        • Not sure I’m a fan of that tactic

        • Any particular reason Smash? Citeh do face Chelsea in that week as well. It seems sound to me but could be deemed bit of a transfer waste.

        • It makes sense in that respect but it’s the whole pre deciding a transfer. Something always comes up.

        • Yep, i agree with that 100%. This is a bit of Nelly ft. Kelly rowland now. Might go listen to it actually, might help me fall asleep before i do anything silly.

        • Hi db, unless I can find (stomach) a way to go with both Lukaku and Kun then that’s a tactic I’m seriously considering too.

Smash has a very valid point on that sort of planning though!

        • You can innit, ditch Kane for him ! smile

        • Just looking actually and I’m thinking about ditching Firmino and losing Alli rather than Kane.

        • Wait….thats what you meant ? Doh ! Something I’m seriously weighing up then potentially bring him back gw8 !

        • Thoughts? Anyone.

        • Interesting….is that for free too ? Sounds like a plan to me !

        • Does leave a very weak midfield but the perfect front 3

        • Yeah it’s for free Brooky.

Terribly weak midfield but a small sacrifice for a few weeks so I think it may be worth a whirl Smash?

Probably WC during one of the upcoming Int breaks. May go back to Firmino when Mane is back but he’s limited a bit at the moment really.

        • That’s a very weak mid

        • But you won’t be giving the armband to Kane the next 2 weeks so why not ditch him ? I hate the thought of sticking the armband on Kane again on a sat lunchtime k.o and him blanking again then having to suffer the rest of the weekend.Seriously considering swapping him out for Aguero myself.Whatever his stats are he’s only given me 2 goals in 5 games. At 12.5m there aren’t many players I would have been this patient with in the past .To male it worse I know my main rival has already brought Aguero in as he has been bragging about it !!

        • *make

        • True that Brooky, just chewing the fat on the issue right now.

          Boils down to –

          Kun, Firmino, Alli

          Vs

          Kun, Kane, 6.6mid

        • Tough decisions now where’s that fence

        • Come on Smash, what would you do?!

        • I’d prob go for it but I’ve always loved a big 3 up top. I think that’s where the big points are this year

        • To be fair Alli hasn’t been pulling up any trees so the Alli Firminho moves sound pretty good.Especially if you are planning on using your wc soon anyway.

        • Bit late back to the party, although it wasn’t much of a party when before I left!
Anyway I didn’t fall asleep and switched out Lukaku for Kun. He who dares and all that!

      • Ok, thanks mate. Pretty certain I will.
