Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 5

Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 5. We can but hope that this article doesn’t come as a surprise to you on a Friday evening and that you aren’t currently sat there thinking “either they’ve made a big mistake, or I’ve made an even bigger one!”. Well, we haven’t, and we are really sorry if you did!

The game-week begins with yet another uninspiring televised clash, as Bournemouth host Brighton on Friday night. Not one that many people will be hurriedly cancelling Friday night plans for then. If you do feel so compelled though you can always rearrange those plans for about 12:30pm on Saturday to coincide with the next woeful TV offering – Crystal palace vs Southampton. Seriously, we pay good money for this stuff. Add those to last week’s run of Burnley vs Palace / Swansea vs Newcastle / West Ham vs Huddersfield, and with the greatest of respect to the teams involved there can anyone ever recall a worse run of 5 televised games?!

Deep breaths.

Onto Saturday’s 3pm fare then, and we have five games, many of which will hold a fantasy football interest –

Huddersfield will hope to improve on their poor showing on Monday night as they host Leicester.

Liverpool, sans Mane, have a potentially plum home game with a Burnley team who traditionally don’t travel that well.

Newcastle and Stoke may hold more interest in the handshake shenanigans than any on the field activities.

Watford, having had a strong start, will look to test a potentially vulnerable Man City back line in what may be a very entertaining fixture, perhaps not so much if you own defenders from either side.

West Brom and West Ham may have the antidote to the above though, just in case you get over excited.

Saturday evening returns us to the television and at least this time there is some semi entertainment as Spurs will be looking for a first PL win at Wembley against an ailing Swansea

Sunday does finally bring some strong games back to the big screen. Arsenal host Chelsea in the early one and then Man United play Everton in the late one to bring our game-week to a close.

THE GAMES IN FULL –

  1. Evening all.
Willing to take a -4 hit
Can you see any decent moves?

    • J.rod to literally anybody then you don’t have to play Carroll every week.

  2. Like everyone else I’ve got the Kun itch, but so far I’m resisting it – just remember he plays away at Stoke this GW. I’ll consider him after the 6-8 weeks he spends injured!

Not doing great but I still think I should tinker to sort it, as most of the wildcard options are fairly sideways. I do need to sort out my defence and 3rd striker though.

Defence wise, Daniels has to go. I can bring in Kolasanic if I get Abraham – who has impressed me when I’ve watched him and has decent fixtures up until my planned wildcard after GW11 – for Chica.

    1FT, 0ITB.

So, Daniels & Chicha > Kolasanic & Abraham? Or something else?

    • I like that move, Abraham isnt a bad enabler, I have had him on the radar since I learned of his move from Bristol.

      • He’s still been lively even with no service, so could well be worth the punt. Cheers db

    • Kun will be at home to Crystal Palace this gw wont he?

      • Yes, but so will Jesus, who I have, and, whatever Kun might have done, has still scored 4 in the last 3 games

      • Oops – just got what you mean. Yep – I cocked up the fixture list…

    • What about Davies and Joselu?

      • FFS – this is why it’s a bad idea to post stoned. Got Kun’s fixtures mixed up AND forgot to post my current team.

I have Davies. Joselu looks worth watching but I prefer Swansea’s next 3 fixtures.

        • Hahah yeah I think Kola is a good option for that team actually.

  3. I’m simply having problems getting over that 50 point per match rut that I’ve been in. Through 5 rounds I’m sitting on 259 points. With some money in the bank and 2 FT’s, I’m thinking of moving Pogba & Alonso and bringing in Salah & Bailly. I am also tempted to simply switch out Pogba for Silva (City vs CP is enticing) and make two moves to strengthen my squad for Round 7.

    • Pogba to Silva is the must move I think but I would leave Alonso there.

    • Hey Gene
Feel ur pain bro I’m struggling myself with the same issue.
Depending on how much money u got I’d be trimming that Spurs trio for some much needed Citeh cover..
How about Pogba & Ali out for Silva/KDB & Salah.

      • TBH, Alli has been on my radar for a move. Pogba & Alli out for Salah & Silva is the move I just might make. Had KDB on my team to start the season and I already dumped him. 😉

  4. Evening lads I can’t decide on a few things.

    Maguire or Simpson?
Is Davies a better option than these two but with a weaker striker?

    • Maguire is obviously better than Simpson but he’s 0.6 more. I’d prefer to save the cash but that’s just me. Can’t really judge other move because don’t know the strikers

    • Depends on on the strikers ur looking for.
      Maguire for me.

    • Well if I get Davies then it has to be Joselu but if I get one of the Leicester lads I can bring in Wood.

      • I prefer Wood over Joselu but not sure I’m a fan of the budget forwards.

        • +1

        • With would mean one of the Leicester boys. I kind of wanted to bring in Vardy but can’t see where to raise 1.6 mil!!

        • I’d ditch Bailly but yeah I can see you have a problem with Stephens

        • I didn’t really want to get rid of my United defensive cover though.

        • If yopu want to keep Uts cover then Jones is the main downgrade. What’s your cash situation like?

        • I have 0.9 itb so even after downgrading Bailly to Jones and upgrading Mounie to Vardy I still don’t have enough. Would have to downgrade Stephens to a 4.0 mil defender and I don’t know who might play.

        • Can’t see much point in another 4.0 def – Maguire & Wood is probably as good a combo as any other in the price bracket at this point in time.

        • That’s kind of what I’m leaning towards right now Robbo.

  5. Evening Fellas.

So after a nightmare start and with 3 chips used ( WC / Free Hit / Triple capt) plus a -12 hit this week I’ve finally come up with a team I like …btw Kane is dead to me !!
May spread Alonso cash to beef up defence, but I promised myself I will never ever sell him, ever again.
    Plz Rate.

    • It’s not a bad team Popz. The obvious is Alonso downgrade to upgrade elsewhere but you obviously have reservations about that move.

    • That’s a lot of Chips! :oogle:

      • Init

Caught your question on the previous page.

I’ve just done similar leaving me this for this week.

I have the WC too incase things go sideways with injuries this week in the League Cup or if I decide I dont like the big three abbr the weaker midfield.

This was Simpson for Stephens, Ritchie for Mkhitaryan and Firmino for Aguero (-4).

  6. Which of these moves do you prefer?

    A. Stephens, Eriksen and Mounie to Maguire, Brady and Moray a

    B. Stephens, Eriksen and Mounie to Maguire, Fab/Ramsey and Vardy

    • B

    • Neither.Id want to hold Erikson.I saw Leicester at the weekend Matt and I’ve got to say they were poor and both Vardy and Mahrez were very quiet.

    • This is all for a -8 by the way

    • Don’t like Eriksen leaving so can’t support either really Matt.

Potentially who else could go in midfield?

    • Honestly I’m just trying to get rid of Stephens and Mounie but the low range strikers aren’t really that appealing but I dont really like getting rid of Eriksen either.
