Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 6

Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 6. Choo choo, all aboard the Kun train… Best hope he starts then or there will be fantasy managers throwing themselves under it at about one minute past 2pm today! Quite why a hat-trick last week indicates another one imminently we aren’t sure but let’s see what happens. It’s a bit of a strange FPL week as we actually have 8 games today (Saturday), and then just the 1 on both Sunday and Monday.

We begin with a London derby as West Ham host Spurs at lunchtime, in what has in recent past been a title decider.

3pm gets busy then with no less than 6 games on the go with the likes of Chelsea, Man City and Man United all featuring.

Saturday is rounded off with Liverpool visiting Leicester.

Sunday’s lonely game sees Brighton host Newcastle at 4pm. And sees the Toon fans getting home on Monday morning at some point, if they are lucky. Wonderful planning from the PL again!

We close the week out with Arsenal hosting West Brom at 8pm on Monday.

        As an arsenal fan I really rate him and I think he starting to show a bit of form this season with some of his performances! I think the position he’s playing in tonight is where he’s suited best… hopefully He can start getting some big hauls over the coming weeks

        • Yes Mitro would be good to see someone in that price brkt come though let’s see what he does tonight 😉

        • If he’s allowed to stay central then i agree, this could result it a lot of points for him over the season. Especially given the pending departures of Ozil and Sanchez, he could get some good game time. Not a lot of competition for those roles if they’re used centrally… it’s only a matter of time before WheelChair is injured again and Walcott is only going to be used wide or as backup to Lacazete.
          Not sure who else we have to play there. If we don’t buy in Jan then Ramsey will be in my team for the rest of the year.

        • Yes here what your saying Chins defo worth keeping an eye on thk Ozil & Sanchez on there way out could weaken there team somewhat though 😉

          You reckon they’re both offski in Jan Chins? I’m not so sure. May depend where you are in the title race though. Grab something if you’re out of it or gamble on losing that if you’re still in it?

        • I suspect if we can sign replacements in Jan then they’ll be allowed to leave.
          Even if they’re not off then, once contracts are signed with new clubs it’ll be really hard to motivate them to try for us. Especially if they’re heading to another Prem team.

  3. Southhamptons next 5 fixtures look interesting, anyone thinking of grabbing a defender or attacking player?

    • and Liverpool in GW12 which would suit a more attacking player rather than a defender (unless Kopp actually writes that book in 2 hours that is!)

  4. Im really surprised that there are more people are bringing in Morata ahead of Chelsea v Citeh than there are people bringing in Lukaku ahead of Man u v Crystal Palace!!
    Am I missing something?

    • Yes db, you are missing that people are stupid.
      I’m scared of what Lukaku will do to Palace. But i can’t afford to sell any of my front three and buy them back again if i get Lukaku in.
      Would you dump Eriksen for Miki to get some coverage in? Selling Eriksen seems as crazy as selling Kane though. Dammit, this is tough.

      • I sold Lukaku for Aguero for gw6 and will switch them back for gw7 having made 0.2 (0.1) on Kun. Gw8 Lukaku faces Leaky Liverpool and Morata faces Crystal Palace so might switch Lukaku out for Morata if either Lukaku blanks in GW7 and starts to fall in price or Morata blanks in GW7 and has fallen in price.
        There are 2 sides to the coin for your situation, both teams have good fixtures over the next 3 gws and then they face each other! I’d stick on that one and try to use the transfers to increase team value rather than accumulate points, an extra mil or 2 during the January wildcard will garner a much higher points return than robbing Peter to Pay Paul now!
        Great score this week by the the way, 2 pesky points away from triple digits!

  6. Just out of interest, what do people consider a good OR? And I mean end of season (I know we’re a little too early to judge yet). I’m just interested to hear whether people have targets or aim to get within certain levels. I crept inside the top 100k last year, which I was pretty happy with. The year before I was nowhere near as addicted to the game, and my rank of 745k reflected that. My best ever was 2k, but probably more luck than judgement! I guess the obvious target is simply to beat last year, but I wondered whether people set specific targets as well. Especially interested to hear from those who’ve had some success in previous years.

      • Yep, that. Any year I hit that I’m happy. Got a personal one aside from that in so much as I’ve never finished with a 6 digit rank so even if it’s a crap season and top 10k isn’t possible then not ruining the above record comes into play.

        • Interesting that you both have 10k as the benchmark. I wonder if that gets more difficult each year, simply due to the increased number of players. When I finished around 2k there’s was 2.5m players, now there’s over 5m. Never worse than 6 digits is very impressive, especially given how long you’ve been around 😉

      • I’d be over the moon with that. I think that’s my (perhaps slightly unrealistic) target. I’d be happy with anything inside last years 95k, but really I’d like the think I can do better than that. Especially given the solid start I’ve had.

        • Should add that 1k is the nadir really. 10 is more realistic though!

        • The difference between 1k and 10k must be quite slim though?

        • It is but to breach it is much harder unless you’re up there early doors. You get little movement toward the end as those up there are obviously actively playing but are also making similar moves with transfers and captains so to catch a rise is tough.

        • I seem to remember the freak year I had a 2k finish I was actually inside the top 1k with a few weeks to go. I got greedy, and brought in a load of differentials to try and get even higher, which massively backfired and dumped me well outside the top 1k!

        • That’s when it really does comes down to luck. If you gamble like that it’s boom or bust.

      For a player of your ability i think a target of Top 100k is challenging but achievable.
      I’ll be aiming for much much higher, but you probably already guessed that.

      • Chins, a player of your ability should settle for nothing less than top 1k. I just feel blessed to be able to play the same game as you.

        • Don’t blame me. I just try to live my life by that wise old saying/.. It goes something like “the bad weeks are always worse than you think they are and the good weeks are actually better than you realize”. Yep. Pretty sure that’s how the saying goes. So i rage quit and celebrate accordingly.
