Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 7

Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 7. Your last chance for some FPL points before we go off again on another pointless international break and all your star players get to globe trot like carbon emissions are a thing of the past. GW7 spans just Saturday and Sunday this time and we begin with Spurs on the road (that’s good Spurs then) as they go to Huddersfield at lunchtime. We then have five 3pm kick-offs. None of which look particularly exciting if we are being totally honest! Man United hosting Palace may be for those who captained Lukaku, but then again who didn’t! Hence the lack of excitement…

The best game on Saturday (in theory) is being kept back until the evening and sees the current champs Chelsea host the probable next ones Man City. Or so it seems. You could probably have said the same this time last season. And been proven very wrong. Which makes it just the more intriguing this time.

Sunday is a veritable feast, at least compared to last week! Arsenal host Brighton in the early game, Koeman will hope that Niasse can keep him in a job a week longer in the 2.15pm one and then we round the week off with Liverpool going to Newcastle and the TV companies flogging the possibility of another 4-3 classic. Monkeys and typewriters and all that…

Evening guys. I’m really gutted with Morata’s injury. Is a Grade 2 hamstring absolutely confirmed? If so he’s out for at least a few games, i.e. he’s got to go. I’m really tempted to do Morata to Jesus tonight to avoid price changes. I know it’s gonna be a long IB, but really trying to avoid pricing issues. Am a crazy to move already? Should I even be considering Batshuayi?! Also, anyone know what the Kun prognosis is? If he’s back sooner than initially suspected I’ll be getting frustrated by Jesus’ minutes again. Thanks.

    Eagle says:

Hey guys already activated my WC since Saturday morning so no turning back.

How does this team look? I need a 5.0 mid any suggestions.

The reason why i’m activating my WC is that i am seeing more value in a 4-3-3 formation. The likes of Mooy and Groß had their moments of good scores but their output has dried up recently hence a shift at 4 at the back. Likewise a similarly priced defender say £5.6 like Otamendi (now 5.7) or Jones (5.2) are getting plenty of clean sheets. The way i see it, an extra defender is better than a low priced mid. Traditionally I have stuck with a 3-4-3 but now I am determined to try out the new 4-3-3 formation. At the back i have covered the top teams in Chelsea, Man Utd., Man City and Arsenal so I’m going with DDG to Courtois, Hegazi to Jones, Cresswell to Otamendi, and brought in Monreal as well. For my midfielders I have decided to ship out Alli for Silva (I have Kane for Spurs coverage), Mkhiki to Coutinho (feels a bit wrong shipping Mkh but already have Lukaku upfront and United fixtures getting a bit tougher). Up top I’m taking out Firminho (recently subbed by Klopp and going with Coutinho for Pool coverage) to Vardy (wanted Morata but will be out a few weeks)

What you guys think? Are my moves justifiable? I’m making some bold switches like DDG to Courtois. Chelsea defenders are expensive and difficult to fit in this squad. Also Mkhiki to Courtois is a bold move. Any suggestions guys?

Sorry the last part should read: Also Mkhiki to Coutinho is a bold move.

      TheDreamers says:

Hi Eagle. Nice looking team. Stones is 0.2 cheaper I think. Mbemba didnt play the weekend so perhaps a 4.5 like Naughton might give some options. Grobb to a 4.5 gives u the funds you need I think?

      • Eagle says:

Dreamers – Stones is at 5.6 but I do prefer Otamendi’s goal threat. I can do Groß to a 4.5 mid like Cork and keep Richarlison. Mbemba just a filler. So my team would be:

        Courtois
        Jones – Davies – Otamendi – Monreal
        Silva – Richarlison – Coutinho
        Lukaku – Kane – Vardy

        Subs: Elliot, Mbemba, Cork, Carroll

        • TheDreamers says:

cant argue with that team Eagle.

        • i’m thinking the same way. Was 60k ranked two weeks ago, now 283k ranked and i blame my midfield. didn’t help trading out davis before last weekend.

Decided that this week would be my WC week. Haven’t activated it yet but have already traded in Davis & Fellaini for price rises.

to get the decent forwards, the option of playing 4 defenders is a very good one.

i was thinking of paying less for the defenders, a 4.5 keeper and maybe going only 2 of Jones/Davis/Otam/Monreal and a couple of 4.5 defenders like Mee/Ward/Simpson.

That will let me get 3 gun midfielders like Silva, Coutinho & Mkhit

          2 Gun forwards Luka & Kane and 1 mid-price Vardy/Firmino

          Say:

          Hart/Elliott
          Simpson, Otamendi, Monreal, Mee (Mbemba)
          Mkhitaryan, Silva, Coutinho (Fellaini, Carroll)
          Lukaku, Kane, Firmino

Feels like you are making the right moves at the right time to me Eagle.

      • Eagle says:

You think so Innit. I’m seeing a 4-3-3 formation as the way to go at the moment.

        • inittowinit says:

Can’t disagree when I keep getting 2 points at best from my crap midfielders and them being shown up by the defenders each week. Ultimately it’s one position though. It’s also probably what we consider a ‘premium’ defender as opposed to what we consider a ‘mid priced’ midfielder too. Take Ince for a perfect example. He’s 5.9m now. Was 6:0. I could have done a lot more with a 6.0 defender than having him stinking the place out each week I’m sure.

        • Eagle says:

That’s a good example there. Imagine having Otamendi/Monreal these past few weeks and playing 4-3-3 with Ince to a 4.5 sub midfielder. On another note, both of us have the same amount of points and identical rank. Hello twin brother. LOL.

        • inittowinit says:

Haha, we do indeed. Spooky! I’d get Rooney in for Kane if I were you 😉

      • Eagle says:

Rooney in for Kane! that’s insane lol.

hi Eagle, +1 positive feedback to your team.. you will like 4 at the back given the running trend.
i started the season with a 442 and i really liked the flexibility and i cannot complain about my ranks niether.. however now i need to bring in a 3rd heavy striker so the WC button has been pushed here as well…

i have moved up 1.3 million places since i changed to 4-3-3, now that might be just luck since its just two gws.
Cant find much wrong with youre picks, i opted for cheaper goalies Pope and Elliot and and put some more money in the mf, but i think your way is better.
My mf players have beed dissapointing all season.
Anyway Richarlison to Brady and Mbemba to Naughton or Ward might be an option

I’m having a massive u-turn on the Morata to Jesus move – and I’m now thinking of plumping on Batman. I know Conte made an odd decision against City, but wasn’t that just cos it was City? With Chelsea’s next 3 being Palace, Watford & Bournemouth I’m thinking Batty Boy has to be worth a punt?!

My new plan morata to Vardy and Fab to hazard. Would leave 0 itb.

Thoughts would be taking a 4 hit
