Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 8

Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 8. It’s an early start this GW with a Friday kick-off and as ever with these things we hope you don’t join us for Live Match Chat with that sinking feeling of ‘why on earth have they posted Live Match Chat on a Friday night…’. And if you do (looking at you Raz!), don’t say we didn’t try to remind you as it was posted on each and every article this week at some point. Whether you made it in tact or not let’s crack on with the games.

Brighton have the early pleasure of a very much in-form West Ham coming to town on Friday evening. Saturday then sees us with five 3pm games beginning with a resurgent Burnley hoping to build on momentum at home to a struggling Huddersfield. Palace host Wolves in what should be an entertaining and close encounter, as should Leicester vs Everton. Spurs host Cardiff in what should by rights be a shellacking, or at least any Kane captainers will hope to be the case. Watford vs Bournemouth looks another one that is hard to call. Saturday evening may be the straw that finally breaks Jose’s back, and oh the irony if it is indeed Rafa who gets to waft it. Some stories you just can’t write… #here’s hoping

Sunday sees three games beginning with Mitro testing out Arsenal’s defensive resolve, followed by Saints trying and (probably) failing to blunt Hazard and co. Then it’s the game of the week at 4:30pm as Pep tries to exorcise his one real demon in English football thus far: Klopp.

Today’s win means that Jose Mourinho now has the best win% of any @ManUtd Manager.

    Jose Mourinho 60.3%
    Sir Alex Ferguson 60.1%

    • 104.1

That was his 400th win as a manager.
      Still, can’t stop talking gibberish 😆 🙂

Has he really been there for 26 years? Blimey. Time flies.

      Zed Leppelin says:

Source? I have completely different numbers! I’d like for you to make your own calculations… Anyway, who cares, Mourinho is an idiot! Perhaps we should, like Martin Luther King said, judge the managers not by their win% but by the content of their character!

      • Kralin says:

You talkin’ to me? You talkin’ to me? You talkin’ to me? Realises you’re talking to Ivan. Good luck.

How would you describe the content of your own character, ZL?

I’ve yet to work my own out.

Maybe JM is suffering mental health issues. Maybe he’s one of us, yet unable to confess a bad GW. Maybe it’s JM’s double we’ve been seeing and in fact the real one’s at Man City, impersonating Pep (who’s locked under the stairs somewhere).

        • Zed Leppelin says:

I was talking to Zorro! I have no idea about the content of my character mate! I think that’s something for others to gauge!

Oh, and by the way, if you’re talking about Jim Morrison, then great! I love that fellow! When the music’s over, turn out the lights! So it goes 😉

        • Kralin says:

That’s right, good old Jim. He necked a bit of the old eau de vie de mirabelle before he popped his clogs, I’m sure.

So it goes isn’t a bad name for a fantasy side. I got a bit tired of it in that book but, er, so it goes.

      • Zed, we should be used of the ups and downs in football. Look at Real Madrid, four games without a single goal. That has not happened since 1985. Anyway, the ups and downs in FPL are even greater. Watch Salah gets a brace tomorrow and wait for the riots from all who sold him 😆

    Smash says:

So on 26 points. With Alonso, Robertson, Mendy, Hazard, Mitrovic and Aguero to go. It’s not great but guess it could be worse.

  4. 106
    Veer says:

Anybody thinking of doubling up on wolves defence with Patricio and Doherty? Not sure if that would be a wise move since they have Spurs and Arsenal in GW 11 and 12.

  5. 107
    Jamie Mc says:

An above average 23 points with Ederson, Walker, Aguero, Alonso and captain Hazard remaining.

I reckon 6 points for the City players and hoping for a clean sheet for Alonso and a goal for Hazard might see me at above 50 points for the game week.

      DMC says:

Yeah, on 25 here and with 6 to go (including 3 of those you mention) but captain Kane failing limits my chances this week. I need a Mendy brace to make any ground! smile

      • Jamie Mc says:

IF I had two free transfers then I would have transferred out Aguero for Kane but thankfully I didn’t and would not have done a -4 for Kane.

Total respect to those who brought Kane in as it was the sensible move especially against 10 men for the last 30 odd minutes.

        Go on captain Hazard.

      • Kralin says:

I’ll be happy to be around the average this week. If Chelsea do ok it should be fine. But what I need to happen versus what will probably happen in the other games is to much to hope for. No players involved in the early game, either. Good luck.

    constantine says:

Holebas has to be the contender for “the worst transfer of the season”. 1 point in 4 games + suspension. That takes some skills. I’d have been much better with just playing Doherty in his place. 41 points in the same time. *Sigh
