Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 9

Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 9. And so we go again, for about 4 weeks anyway, before the next absolutely essential international break interrupts us all once more. You can probably guess that we rather side with Jurgen Klopp and his view that ‘the Nations Cup is the most senseless competition in the world of football’. Let’s just hope that none, or at least not many, of your precious FPL assets came to any harm in their pursuit of the ‘glory’ of a few Nations Cup points this past week or so.

Back we are though and we start with a cracker as Jose goes back to The Bridge on Saturday lunchtime, an occasion which is always notable, but probably more so when he’s so under the cosh, not to mention scrutiny. Expect to see buses in their droves.

We then get stuck into a bumper 3pm selection with 6 games to feast upon. Which usually means a compromise of paucity over the rest of the weekend but more on that later! An in form (ish) Bournemouth host ‘neighbours’ and terminally out of form Southampton, Cardiff struggle on towards the inevitable as they host Mitro and co, Man City hope to strut on towards their own inevitability against whichever version of Burnley show up, Newcastle host former boss Chris Hughton and his Brighton side, West Ham prepare for the next Cup Final against Spurs and Wolves and Watford face each other in a clash of the early form setters.

Those who sold Salah and co will then be spending Saturday evening behind the couch as Liverpool visit free falling Huddersfield in the late game.

The weekend then limps to a conclusion as Sunday sees just the one game with Everton hosting Crystal Palace before we conclude with Leicester going to Arsenal on Monday.

  1. If you do WC next week..who will in to your team on top 3.

  2. Morning I’m looking ahead to next week already. Basically I need Salah and I’d like Arnie but might not be able to do that one. I have 0.5 and two free transfers.

    • Kane and Fraser for Salah and Murray could work. Brighton fixtures are ok for a while. That leaves Mitro to Arnie next week or two when their fixtures go in your favour?

      • Is their an update on Murray already?

      • Only leaves 6 million for a striker for me. Route I’m thinking currently is either Salah and Success in for Kane and Hojbjerg.
or Fraser to Salah, Kane to Arnie but I will need to downgrade someone by a million (-4).

        • What about Kane and Richarlison for Salah and Arnie, would you have enough?

        • That’s was a good shout. 0.1 short

        • Alonso to Rudiger would facilitate that but…….

        • Yeah I don’t like that. Alonso to Rudiger is quite a downgrade

        • Hi Smash. I think your extra 1 million can easily come from Robertson > Louvren.
Or why not Alonso > Duffy/Dunk to raise even more cash?

        • Yeah Lovren is potentially a good option I think. I like that. It’s just whether he can keep his place. Gomez is certainly playing well and TAA is a decent player as well

    • Smash. That’s a good looking team. I’m myself planning to get either King/Wilson + Salah in for Kane and Maddison. But, I also have Vardy for Leicester cover.

      • Thanks Constantine. Only issue I have with that is Leicester have a good run of fixtures Bournemouth have a tough run after Fulham

    • Smash, how about using Hazard as a bit of a one off and switch back jobbie? I think that’s what I’ll do myself. Or are you hell bent on having both going forward?

      • Hi inittowinit. I do t think so I got Hazard at 10.7 so have some value in him. I’m also still licking my wounds on swapping Salah out for Kane for the short term thing

        • Fair enough, it was just a thought. Having both would of course be preferable.

        • Yeah it’s certainly an option and can see why some would

    • Smash, You need Arnie for GW12 at least, as that is when we have Huddersfield so you have a bit of time to get him in.
      Kane->Arnie, Hazard->Salah.
You know it makes sense mate!!!

      • Yeah I do want Arnie. I just don’t want to get rid of Hazard to do it

        • Downgrade Kane, upgrade Fraser
          would that not do it?

        • Yeah but priority is Salah. Shame TAA ain’t playing as my plan was Robertson to Trent, Fraser to Salah and Arnie in for Kane

        • What about Kane and Richarlison for Salah and Arnie, and Paricio to Foster if you are short of 0.1m

        • Maybe I’d prob go Ryan over Foster but will see how the week goes

        • I will need your expert advice this week Smash, as always…lol

  3. Morning all! Plan was to do Moura to Maddison this week and then Mane to Sterling next week but Mouras price dropped and Mane price very likely to drop tonight which would make the move impossible!
Think gonna take my 1st -4 and do the moves today …whaddya reckon?
Mane has the better fixtures but form is poor and Sterling scored 3 against Spurs last season!?

    • Playing devils advocate here, but how would you then feel if Sterling picked up an injury on Tuesday? Early moves are risky with midweek games is all I’m saying!

    • I don’t get Mane out for Sterling

    • hey redkev. i agree with the others above. no need to make early moves and wait till after the european games are over. is there an alternative transfer you can do for moura? maybe pereyra ?

    • Cheers Rosco and Smash! Yeah know it’s a risk plus Mane has the better fixtures… just don’t think Liverpool are looking as deadly up front this season. I’d expect sterling to get a lot more points over the season too and he’ll be out of my reach after Manes drop tonight!

  4. Richarlison and AWB for me today.

    What else we got?

    • Only Richarlison for me, so I expect my current green arrow to turn into a red arrow by the end of the GW.

    • Just Richarlison for me GP but no’s 2 & 3 in my league don’t have him so hoping for a biggie from him.

Rare occurrence of being sans kids today so may well treat myself and have a wander down the local and watch it there.

      • afternoon innit. hope you are okay mate. enjoy the game this afternoon and lets hope for a richie brace.

        • Hi eresh, hope you are well. Let’s hope so as at least it’ll bring a smattering of excitement to an otherwise dull GW.

I’ll be checking over my shoulder on my way to the pub to make sure you aren’t following me 😉

        • hey innit. would be nice if can get to 50 with AWB and richie left. currently 35 from 9. the person ahead of me in my ML captained Sigurddson this week so if he has a high outing today then it increases a big gap.

I dont think there is no way I can follow you lol. why the worry mate haha

        • ‘don’t think’……. smile

      • You wouldn’t be able to go to it Init, no?

Bit late now maybe I guess.

Enjoying a beer or two is the next best thing.

    • hey GP. same as you, richie and AWB. 35 from 9 so hopefully i get to the minimum 40 in this GW.

    • Just Richarlson and Maddison tomorrow to go with me. Could do with something from those two

  5. Numbers are back for those that noticed :lurker:

  6. After this week’s disaster and a -8 I’m contemplating another -8 to try tidy things up. What do people think.
    Smalling-Duffy
    Neves-Salah
    Kane- Arnie
    Yes or no.

    • Think you need to take a step back and breathe for a minute.

This can be a slippery slope and making hits the normality can’t really be sustainable in my opinion.

See where you are after all this weeks European games as injuries etc can happen and make things more clear for you.

      • +1

      • Agree with GP

      • Cheers GP. Yeah I promised myself after last year of taking over 80 points in hits I wouldn’t do it again. I still managed to win a few mini leagues surprisingly. I’ll wait till after the European games.

        • I took 116 point hits last season and ended with 42k. Two seasons back I took 80-90 points hit and promised the same to myself. This season I already took 20 smile

        • That’s a serious amount of hits. How often did they pay off for you? You may not have ever checked or indeed wanted to but it’s probably worth doing if you are intent on keeping that element up.

I’m only intrigued as I did a couple of pieces on the topic for the FFMag a season or two ago and whilst it was a very small sample (myself, Mitro and the top 20 at the time, essentially) I found they worked in very careful moderation.

This was the 2nd of them:

          https://fantasyfootball247.co.uk/hit-not-hit-sequel/

        • 116! laugh That’s 29 hits GM. I took 12 myself. Guess it sort of worked for you though as that’s a decent rank and your previous ones are good too, is that your usual approach then?

        • That’s a great rank in fairness with that amount of hits. I don’t like doing it and keep saying I won’t but end up doing it anyway.

        • I haven’t taken any hits this season, can’t remember how many I did last season…

        • Think I’ve taken a fair amount this season. A lot of the -4s have been fine. -8s take you to dangerous territory though and that one backfired for me

        • taken 1 hit so far this season but most of where my points lost was changing captaincy last minute or benching the wrong players for the GW.

        • A very thorough article Innit – and quite edifying. Wasn’t a member at that time, so they seem like wise words indeed, and backed up with statistical fact. Thanks for bringing the subject to our attention. Neither guilt nor reckless trading should be the message! See you round pal! This GW is a very low one, but shouldn’t provoke us all into suicidal ‘mega-hits’, should it? Bye for now and thanks again!
