Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 9

Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 9. And so we go again, for about 4 weeks anyway, before the next absolutely essential international break interrupts us all once more. You can probably guess that we rather side with Jurgen Klopp and his view that ‘the Nations Cup is the most senseless competition in the world of football’. Let’s just hope that none, or at least not many, of your precious FPL assets came to any harm in their pursuit of the ‘glory’ of a few Nations Cup points this past week or so.

Back we are though and we start with a cracker as Jose goes back to The Bridge on Saturday lunchtime, an occasion which is always notable, but probably more so when he’s so under the cosh, not to mention scrutiny. Expect to see buses in their droves.

We then get stuck into a bumper 3pm selection with 6 games to feast upon. Which usually means a compromise of paucity over the rest of the weekend but more on that later! An in form (ish) Bournemouth host ‘neighbours’ and terminally out of form Southampton, Cardiff struggle on towards the inevitable as they host Mitro and co, Man City hope to strut on towards their own inevitability against whichever version of Burnley show up, Newcastle host former boss Chris Hughton and his Brighton side, West Ham prepare for the next Cup Final against Spurs and Wolves and Watford face each other in a clash of the early form setters.

Those who sold Salah and co will then be spending Saturday evening behind the couch as Liverpool visit free falling Huddersfield in the late game.

The weekend then limps to a conclusion as Sunday sees just the one game with Everton hosting Crystal Palace before we conclude with Leicester going to Arsenal on Monday.

Morning I’m looking ahead to next week already. Basically I need Salah and I’d like Arnie but might not be able to do that one. I have 0.5 and two free transfers.

Morning all! Plan was to do Moura to Maddison this week and then Mane to Sterling next week but Mouras price dropped and Mane price very likely to drop tonight which would make the move impossible!
Think gonna take my 1st -4 and do the moves today …whaddya reckon?
Mane has the better fixtures but form is poor and Sterling scored 3 against Spurs last season!?

Richarlison and AWB for me today.

    What else we got?

After this week’s disaster and a -8 I’m contemplating another -8 to try tidy things up. What do people think.

Think you need to take a step back and breathe for a minute.

This can be a slippery slope and making hits the normality can’t really be sustainable in my opinion.

See where you are after all this weeks European games as injuries etc can happen and make things more clear for you.

      • Offalymartin says:

Cheers GP. Yeah I promised myself after last year of taking over 80 points in hits I wouldn’t do it again. I still managed to win a few mini leagues surprisingly. I’ll wait till after the European games.

        • GoalMachine says:

I took 116 point hits last season and ended with 42k. Two seasons back I took 80-90 points hit and promised the same to myself. This season I already took 20 smile

        • inittowinit says:

That’s a serious amount of hits. How often did they pay off for you? You may not have ever checked or indeed wanted to but it’s probably worth doing if you are intent on keeping that element up.

I’m only intrigued as I did a couple of pieces on the topic for the FFMag a season or two ago and whilst it was a very small sample (myself, Mitro and the top 20 at the time, essentially) I found they worked in very careful moderation.

This was the 2nd of them:

        • inittowinit says:

116! laugh That’s 29 hits GM. I took 12 myself. Guess it sort of worked for you though as that’s a decent rank and your previous ones are good too, is that your usual approach then?

        • Offalymartin says:

That’s a great rank in fairness with that amount of hits. I don’t like doing it and keep saying I won’t but end up doing it anyway.

        • Wafflez says:

I haven’t taken any hits this season, can’t remember how many I did last season…

        • Smash says:

Think I’ve taken a fair amount this season. A lot of the -4s have been fine. -8s take you to dangerous territory though and that one backfired for me

        • eresh12 says:

taken 1 hit so far this season but most of where my points lost was changing captaincy last minute or benching the wrong players for the GW.

        • AJW says:

A very thorough article Innit – and quite edifying. Wasn’t a member at that time, so they seem like wise words indeed, and backed up with statistical fact. Thanks for bringing the subject to our attention. Neither guilt nor reckless trading should be the message! See you round pal! This GW is a very low one, but shouldn’t provoke us all into suicidal ‘mega-hits’, should it? Bye for now and thanks again!
