PRE-SEASON HUB 2020/21
Introduction
Gone are the days of Premier League teams jetting off to China, Malaysia, Thailand and Australia for their pre-season preparations – at least for this pre-season. Here’s hoping things in the world are again on the right side of normal this time next season and I for one will never again take the Premier League Asia Trophy for granted.
In this shortened period between the 2019-20 season ending and the 2020-21 season beginning (consider that Manchester United & Manchester City players will not even be through passport control with their families as they head on holiday whilst Everton, Liverpool and Tottenham commence a stretch of their legs with their first pre-season matches), I will again document the ins and outs and ups and downs of all 20 Premier League teams pre-season on this article as we hurtle towards the new season.
Below is a guide to the matches CONFIRMED so far – there will be more. For instance, as you’ll see, there are clubs who have not yet announced any matches. Seeing as all games will be behind closed doors anyway, I would expect the clubs to be transparent about their matches, not least to let their own supporters know what’s going on and I’ll be there to take advantage.
As is the norm – if you feel comfortable in doing so – please record any and all pre-season news here under the relevant team comment. I’ll round up each day with anything missed relating to line-ups, goals, assists, injuries, playing positions etc.
You’ll find a comment relating to each of the 20 teams below.

Hello FBLers, I am going to put this post up and make it hot comment so we can refer back to it when we are discussing FBL. I was going to make an article for it and all that, but I would really prefer if our league was a bit like last season where it was just us. If I put an article out then a lot of random folk will join the league who we don’t know, some will anyway, but keeping it on the chat will limit that. Besides, I don’t want to scroll through 100 names or more looking for Ivan :hippo:
***The game has not opened yet**
I will post the league code for any new players on here when the game is out, if you are a returning player and you were in the FF27 league last season you should automatically be back in there, similar to fpl, as long as you use the same email.
For your viewing pleasure, I came up with some stuff to help us out, you know it will be here when you start coming up with your team as a reference point.
And these, if you have any questions on the numbers one ask away.
Nice one Mito
Looking forward to it :good:
Thanks Mito. I’m inspired to give this a try for the first time (despite having zero knowledge on the players involved) by the very good things I’ve heard about this fantasy game format.
Also, is it possible to set up a similar “hot comment” post for FMLS? It would be nice to have a dedicated area to post in for that too (without clogging up FPL posts and annoying non-FMLSers). I blame Ivan for stopping writing the MLS articles
Yeah, will do that. Will put it right underneath the bundesliga one.
Fantastic… all excited to go both for FPL and FBL. Not sure why FBL is not opened yet, its less than 30 days now.
Can we have a FBL chat room once started? If I remember we had a MLS Chat room (Otieno used to drive the comments there) last season.
OR, we can reuse the MLS chat room for FMLS, FBL and even Scottish Premiership – which only limited managers will play. Can it be brought back to the sidebar?
https://fantasyfootball247.co.uk/the-mls-fantasy-football-chat-room/
@GM, Yeah we can certainly do something for that.
Mito, Thanks for the reminder. It was refreshing break at the end of last season.
With FBL, do I need to pay attention to my squad once the GW kicks off?
DId you not play last season?
In FBL, it is somewhat rolling (like UCL). You can also go less than 11 on the pitch if you see any player got negative.
Nope, not played before. I’m not a fan of having to manage my team once the GW starts as there’s a strong chance I’ll forget to do something!
Yes, I do understand. You can still keep it the same. Since games are mostly in a convenient time if you are in Europe/UK, we did not face much issue last time.
Cool. I might check it out once the game goes live.
Yeah, you will have to keep a little track if you want to score the most points possible.
This looks superb Legend, thank you.
I assume we’ll be reminded when it’s time to actually do anything? :wink2:
Restricting FBL to a comment rather than an article is an amazing decision Mito.
It will probably be an article, judging by comments although after your comment I am thinking I did the right thing. 😉
Managed to sneak in TAA.
Thoughts on this?
It’s decent Smash. Not so sure about Pope with BGW1. Lloris may be a better option or Ryan/McCarthy and save the money.
How likely is Saliba to play?
Lol didn’t even pick up on pope not playing!
Yeah you would surely want to start with a goalkeeper no?
I actually like the Saka pick even with Aubameyang in there – on the back of last season, he’s got to be considered for 5.5. Even if for the first two decent games then switch to Moutinho, Neves, Armstrong etc.
I didn’t even pick up on it! Oops
I like the Saka pick. I did before I had a go at what the Arsenal team might look like and then I thought he might not get in it now
What’s your motivation to pick Dallas? Have you seen his fixtures?
There are a lot of decent 4.5M value picks with way better fixtures.
Getting harder to fit premium players into the team. Considering last seasons points tally. Settle with 1 premium striker and load up on mids? That said…premium mids killing the 100m budget.
FPL, as life, is a balancing act Garra.
We could help you if you put your current squad up mate.
Should change another 50 times…
Shame that you are relying on a 4.5 player each week.
I wonder if sacrificing Lloris to say, Ryan or McCarthy allowing Anguissa to be upgraded to Armstrong might be worth it.
I like the rest of it. Think Vardy is being a bit ignored so far but that’s probably due to his price compared to the big mids.
I quite like the Vardy pick. He has the fixtures. Problem is their form fell off a cliff post lockdown if not before. I don’t like the double up with Maddison though and you can’t be playing Anguissa every week. Prob downgrade Lloris. 4-4-2 with a 4.5 defender might work better
Awesome…great advice thanks! Wanted to straight swap Lloris for Pope in GW2. But will have to drop him to upgrade Anguisa. Giving Maddison the boot aswell! :good2:
Would have been easy if everyone was affordable.
Here’s some homevideo fun to pass the time, an extensive collection of Leeds goals from last season. That Hernandéz fella looks bangin’

Help! I don’t know my team ID and as I have no points I can’t see it. How else could I find it?
Thanks!
Found it!
You’re welcome bees. Just ask. 😎
Rosco. What are your thoughts on Manquillo? Will he start?
Don’t do it man!! Haha seriously though I wouldn’t risk it, no guarantees he gets regular minutes. He is much improved in recent seasons and I prefer him to Yedlin but I wouldn’t risk it till he strings a few games together at least!
Cheers buddy. Can’t see many good playing options at 4.5m. . We need to find this seasons Lundstram soon. But, I’ll take your advice and not get him now.
Rosco. Sorry mate. One more question. Saint-Maximin. Views? Good enough for 4th Mid?
Also, him or Saka, if you have to choose?
