Arsenal

Last Updated: Friday September 13th 2019

  • The big news for Arsenal is that Alexandre Lacazette looks likely to be out until October due to a persistent ankle problem which he has been advised to rest.
  • All players who were on international duty returned Thursday morning. No international players reported injured.
  • Bellerin: Left knee. Continuing with on-field rehabilitation. Progressing well and aiming to participate in full training in September.
  • Tierney: Groin. Continues to receive treatment and further assessments. Progressing well and aiming to participate in full training in September.
  • Mavropano: Groin. Continues to receive treatment and further assessments. Progressing well and aiming to participate in full training in September.
  • Rob Holding is nearing a full return to the side, with him getting some minutes with the u23s and probably getting at least one more game in with them.

Aston Villa

Last Updated: Friday September 13th 2019

  • Smith reported that Kodjia “fractured a cheekbone on the training ground.” apparently he clashed heads with Marvelous Nakamba. Yeah, you read that right, with Marvelous.
  • James Chester is nearing a return, but now needs to build up fitness, so still could be 2 weeks or so away.
  • Targett is not likely to make the 18 for Monday’s game, with the Arsenal fixture being more likely.
  • Trezeguet misses out due to a one match ban.

Brighton & Hove Albion

Last Updated: Thursday September 12th 2019

  • Bad news for Trossard owners with Potter saying this “It’s early stages with Leandro but he’s felt something in his groin; we’re probably looking at after the next international break before he’s available again.”
  • In other Seagull injury news, Schelotto returned to training and could come into contention. Bissouma is expected back training next week and Jose Izquierdo remains sidelined.
  • Potter also said “Leon Balogun had a bit of tightness and needs an extra day, but apart from that everyone else has come back fit and ready from their national sides.”
  • The gaffer had this to say on Webster “I thought Adam stepped into a big challenge really well against Man City.” Not great news if you own Duffy for some reason. Having said that, Brighton did lose 4-0 to City.

Bournemouth

Last Updated: Friday September 13th 2019

  • Oh Eddie… the Bournemouth gaffer basically dragged all and sundry out of bed at 4am to simply tell them nothing.
  • The crux of the message was that he won’t make any decisions until after training on Saturday but that he expects to have pretty much the same squad as last time.
  • The rest of it was spent on giving updates on how close / far away the likes of david Brooks, Dan Gosling, Simon Francis and Lewis Cook are.
  • The latter managed 60 minutes in midweek behind closed doors and is probably the closest of the lot.

Burnley

Last Updated: Thursday September 12th 2019

  • Last gameweek it was Post Malone now a bit more in tune with his age Dyche was talking about recovering Drinkwater, hoping to get him fully fit in the near future saying they want him with “the eye of the tiger”.
  • In other non-song related injury news, Dwight McNeil seems to have recovered from a couple of issues that made him miss a u21 game and should be available.
  • Barnes is said to be over a minor groin problem and should be ready for the weekend.
  • Gudmundsson will have a late fitness test to see if his calf is a go.
  • Robbie Brady should be with the squad with this weekend after taking part in a u23 game and coming out unscathed.

Chelsea

Last Updated: Friday September 13th 2019

  • Mixed news from Lampard this week, beginning with the huge positive that Antonio Rudiger is fit and available again. Good news unless you own Zouma we suppose…
  • Kovacic and Pedro were also given the green light.
  • But N’Golo Kante was ruled out once more with his ankle problem.
  • Lampard confirmed that both Hudson-Odoi and Reece James would feature for the U23’s on Friday night.

Crystal Palace

Last Updated: Friday September 13th 2019

  • Roy had this to say on two of his players “We’ve got a couple of people we need to assess in the morning, that’s Scott Dann and James McArthur.”
  • Hodgson also added “Martin Kelly is injured, of course, he’s been injured since Aston Villa so we won’t have him or Connor Wickham who is injured as well.”
  • The gaffer also showed why he should be managing a bigger club with this profound statement “If you’re keeping clean sheets and keeping it very, very tight, you make it that much harder for the opposition.” The heck with a bigger club, he should be in charge of the English national team.
  • James Tomkins could be available, but perhaps a bit short on fitness.

Everton

Last Updated: Friday September 13th 2019

  • Silva confirms that there are no fresh injury concerns.
  • Marco said Jonas Lossl is not “ready” to return yet. Everton manager says it remains “too early” to put a timescale on Gbamin’s return.
  • Silva told Iwobi when he was signing that he would “demand” more goals from him. That must have been the problem at Arsenal, Iwobi was unaware that he needed to score.

Leicester City

Last Updated: Thursday September 12th 2019

  • “It’s a long season and we’re really looking forward to this game against a top-class team.” Looks like Rodgers is looking ahead to playing Spurs the following week, seeing that there is no way he is talking about Manchester United.
  • On his team’s fitness Brendan had this to say “They’ve all come back, all fine, and all fit and well, The training squad is super competitive and everyone is fighting, not just to play, but also to be in the matchday squad.”
  • On Matty James there was this though “He’s been so unfortunate with injuries. We’re not putting any timeline on it”. So it looks like James is still out for a bit.
  • No other concerns according to the gaffer so it means Wes Morgan who was had a bit of a back issue should be back with the squad.

Liverpool

Last Updated: Friday September 13th 2019

  • Klopp on his real keeper “Alisson is improving but we can’t put any pressure on him. It was a serious injury in the calf but now it’s much better. We don’t know exactly. The target was always after the next international break.”
  • Jurgen talked about Keita also “Naby is close. He could be in training when we come back from Napoli next week.”
  • In other injury news, Klopp said “Clyney and Glatzel are far away still but doing big steps as well. I hope I didn’t miss anybody but it looks quite ok at the moment.”
  • The gaffer was happy to see his two stars have the break off from international duty “It was perfect they didn’t have to go on international. I am happy for them to play for them but I say 500 times, the players who didn’t go, everything is different. A very intense period. Sadio & Mo have had time off they needed.” It was said that Sadio and Mo spent time together watching tv, no word if Salah ever passed the remote.

Manchester City

Last Updated: Friday September 13th 2019

  • Pep on Benjamin “He’s good, he’s training now. I’m delighted because he has been training regularly with us for the last two weeks so hopefully in the next few games he can start to be part of the squad.” Not sure if that means Mendy is in contention for the 18 or in a few games. I will monitor Mendy’s Instagram closely I guess.
  • For any of you fpl managers wanting to know if you will have a chance to triple captain Sane later this season “He’s coming back before the end of the season. He was injured in August so he should be perfect by December, January and February. The surgery was good and he’s back now with us making his rehabilitation. Hopefully it will go well.” So good news then, Leroy could be back in time for the double gameweeks.
  • On LaPorte, Pep said “Not long, five months, six months, next year… January or February.” Perhaps if the question was how long will you have to play with Otamendi, Pep would think that 5-6 months is an extremely long time.
  • In other injury news, John Stones, Gabriel Jesus and Ilkay Gundogan are all available for Norwich.

Manchester United

Last Updated: Friday September 13th 2019

  • With an ever increasing injury list Ole had mixed news on his squad ahead of Saturday’s home clash with Leicester.
  • Paul Pogba went over on his ankle during the Saints game and subsequently withdrew from the France squad and Ole confirmed he will be absent for this one, adding he may be ok for next week.
  • Likewise he also ruled Anthony Martial out for this week but was hopeful of a return vs West Ham.
  • On Wan-Bissaka (back) and Jesse Lingard (illness) he was a little more hopeful that they may make Saturday saying; ‘Maybe Aaron, maybe Jesse and I think maybe that’s it from the ones who had to pull out (of the internationals), but I can’t promise those two will be available either’.
  • Which seems to also rule Luke Shaw out although he wasn’t mentioned directly.

Newcastle United

Last Updated: Friday September 13th 2019

  • The big news from Brucie is that Sean Longstaff turned an ankle in training as so is definitely out. He is still waiting to be assessed to establish the severity of it. Those A&E queues in Newcastle can be very long….
  • Speaking of perpetual casualties Bruce said that Andy Carroll has ‘made big progress this week’. And then added that ‘Andy’s away to see a specialist this afternoon’. Depends how you define progress we suppose then.
  • Allan Saint-Maximin is in the same spot but sounds like he could still be a while away.
  • There was no mention of DeAndre Yedlin who was scheduled to return to training this week.
  • And Dwight Gayle is still definitely sidelined as they still don’t know what’s actually wrong with him; ‘We’ve had scan after scan and specialist after specialist. We just can’t seem to get to the bottom of it’. Another ringing endorsement of the NHS up north.
  • Anyway, we shall let you move swiftly along as nobody has a Newcastle asset in their fantasy team surely? Even Newcastle players don’t have Newcastle assets in their fantasy team.

Norwich City

Last Updated: Friday September 13th 2019

  • Norwich have a list of injuries that would have make Wenger’s Arsenal medical team proud.
  • On Aarons “He will be out until the international break due to an ankle injury, and his foot is still in a boot,”
  • On Klose “Timm doesn’t need surgery but that won’t reduce his time out sadly. We think it is nine months, maybe one or two less.”
  • On Zimmerman “Christoph’s out until January. Although he hasn’t got problems with his ligaments in his ankle, there is a problem with his foot. It’s a complicated injury, and at one time we thought it would be really serious. He doesn’t need surgery but he will need to wear a boot.”
  • On Hanley and Godfrey “Ben Godfrey came back with a groin strain from international duty and is a major doubt. It will be a short-term decision with Ben. Grant Hanley is available from the bench. Patrick Roberts is also unavailable due to ineligibility to play against his parent club Manchester City, while Onel Hernandez remains on the sidelines due to a knee injury. He is back on the training pitch today and he could play 20 or 30 minutes.”
  • Tim Krul overextended his elbow in training and he is a doubt.
  • There are also issues in central midfield, with Trybull, Mario Vrancic and Leitner all unavailable.
  • Patrick Roberts is also unavailable because his parent club is Manchester City, while Onel Hernandez remains on the sidelines due to a knee injury.
  • Farke said “We won’t cry” when talking about all the injuries. On a separate note, the German manager has just signed an endorsement deal with Kleenex.

Sheffield United

Last Updated: Thursday September 12th 2019

  • McGoldrick and Callum Robinson are expected to be available after being released early from national team duties with minor problems.
  • No word on Fleck, but he has been pictured in training sessions.ds
  • Wilder on his front line “I’ve got a really good group of forwards. I’ve said to them they have to be patient at times. I feel it’s possibly the one area where we will mix it up, looking at different teams to give ourselves the best opportunity of a result.” 5 goals in 4 games is about 5 goals more then I expected them to have at this stage.

Southampton

Last Updated: Thursday September 12th 2019

  • Hasenhüttl had this to say on Redmond and players returning from games over the break “Everybody is back from their international games without injuries, so that’s good news. The bad news is that Nathan [Redmond] is still not available, but he is making progress.”
  • Ralph also mentioned a couple of other players “Michael [Obafemi] is in training sessions as well as Ryan [Bertrand], they are both options. It has been good to regroup over the break, we’re looking forward.”
  • Kevin Danso is suspended after a sending off last time out.
  • On Djenepo ““With Moussa it looks better; we aren’t sure whether it is enough to play this weekend. We’ll have to look. He can bring us something special, he showed it in the few minutes he’s played so far that he can make a difference. The chances are not that big, but let’s see. I don’t want to take too much risk because it’s a very busy September.”

Tottenham Hotspur

Last Updated: Thursday September 12th 2019

  • Straight from their twitter feed “Tanguy Ndombele (thigh), Ryan Sessegnon (hamstring), KWP (hamstring) & Dier (hip): All returned to training with the squad and being assessed for selection.”
  • Again straight from their feed “Lo Celso (hip): Undergoing rehab, unavailable. Juan Foyth (ankle): Concluding late stages of conditioning before returning to training, unavailable. Sanchez (ankle): Being assessed after complaining of irritation in ankle.”
  • Spurs twitter account trying to put me out of a job. Considering I do this for free, go on Spurs twitter, do your thing.

Watford

Last Updated: Friday September 13th 2019

  • So late and so little information, oh Watford… we do despair.
  • Craig Cathcart is out, he even had to reveal this himself. Apparently he tore his thigh (a bit) on international duty and says he will be missing for a week or two.
  • Troy Deeney is still out after his knee surgery.
  • The rest is anybody’s guess, especially with a new (od) manager at the helm.

West Ham United

Last Updated: Friday September 13th 2019

  • Pell was helpful this morning, saying “We have no new injuries following the international break and we have all the players fit except Winston Reid and Michail Antonio, who had surgery on his leg,” Pellegrini confirmed. “So, all the other players are OK.”
  • The gaffer had this to say on Lanzini “It’s very good to have Manu Lanzini back and I hope he continues to create so many chances over the rest of the season. He came back from his injury with trust and always wants the ball and to do different things. He will keep improving and I think he can take one step more.” hopefully the next step is being fantasy relevant.
  • Manuel had this to say on Declan Rice changing his international allegiance “Of course, not everybody is happy, but everyone has to respect him for that and he shouldn’t give them too much importance because it doesn’t matter what other people think.” Wait until he tells Pelligrini that he wants to change clubs.

Wolverhampton Wanderers

Last Updated: Friday September 13th 2019

  • Wolves will be without the suspended Willy Boly after his red at Everton. Jesus Vallejo will likely deputise although Romain Saiss is another option after he was declared fit and available by Nuno
  • Matt Doherty is back in contention already after his minor knee surgery so he and Adama Traore will have to fight it out for that spot on the right.
  • Leander Dendoncker is also available having picked up a minor knock in training whilst away with Belgium.

Suggestion pls – not much to do with the team (quite template), but few small tweaks here and there required before I wildcard (not sure what is a good time though – might be next IB).

    I have 1 FT and 2.5m ITB.
    Ryan (Button)
VVD, Digne, Diop, Lundstram, (WanB – expecting not to start)
    Salah, Sterling, KDB, Mount (Dendo)
    Pukki, King, (Greenwood)
This is my current 4-4-2 formation for Gw5. Right now I have 2 issues:
    (1) WanB – I guess he will return in Gw6, but MUN is not keeping CS – I can switch to Otamendi and play him or Hold WanB
    (2) King – no return at all and BOU is also not looking that great – I can switch to Haller / Abraham / Barnes (injury doubt) or keep King

My initial plan (before WanB injury news) was to sell King. But still now I could not figure which of the 3 to pick. I can even pick Vardy.
    What do you think?

Haller now and Vardy in 4 wks?

      • GoalMachine says:

LEI is in watchlist from Gw7 or 9 – but my bank can just fit Vardy now. I hope his price is not going to go up. I detail where is my doubts:
        (1) Haller – like him, out and out forward – will get fairly good gametime. But WHU is going allout in attack – so goals will be shared with Lanzini, Yarmolenko and Haller.
        (2) Abraham – He is kind of focal point of Chelsea’s attack – all balls are sent to him in the box. Puli and Mount are hovering around the box. Problem is that his gametime is not guaranteed.
        (3) Barnes – Underlying Stats are good and he is scoring. But its Burnley and they are kind of 1-0 team and I do not see they will score a lot. The fixture is exceptional though. I am not sure how serious is Barnes injury.

With every first, second and third choice Norwich defender out, is Pep like to rotate Sterling and KDB? The never ending worry… :hippo: :scratch_one-s_head:

      GoalMachine says:

We will come to know only after Gw6 deadline. This 1 week (Gw5 – UCL Away – Gw6) will hopefully throw some light about the rotations. Its good that UCL match is away – at least that is a good driver for rotation.

I see KDB 70 odd minutes in both EPL and UCL. Bilva/Dilva/Mahrez will be rotated – any 2 (1 full rest in EPL). Same way Sterling/Aguero/Jesus – any 2 will play. Jesus is just back – so at least these rounds, he will not get many minutes, but will come off the bench.

Disclaimer: I am not PEP and thus wheel can rotate in every direction. smile

So good to have proper football back. I’m sorting my teams, listening to podcasts, having a beer and all is good :drinks:

Any King owner – keeping him?

    SAFs_hairdryer says:

Any Palace fans on here? Is Kelly likely to get back in the team after his injury? I’m on a wildcard and don’t want to be stuck with a dud if I have the chance to swap him out now

    Bigpopz says:

    Hey guys
Thx for the articles, glad real footy is back.
Should I swap AWB to 5.5m def,?
    1ft 0bank
Can’t have Otamendi due to triple city already,
How about Matip 5.4m or one of the Spurs boys?
    Current defence is..
    Pope
    AWB / VVD / Soyuncu / Dunk / Lundstram
