Fantasy Football Tips GW19
After an exciting days action on Boxing Day that saw many high scores and an overall average of 61 we must dust ourselves down very quickly, whether that be from over celebrating high scores and ending up sleeping in the hedges or from simply falling flat on your face in the dirt with the shame of a hit that didn’t pay off. The quickest of quick turnarounds sees GW19 start tomorrow (Sunday 28th) with an 11.30am deadline (UK time). There’s an early kick-off at 12pm between Spurs and Man Utd and with it a rare opportunity to glimpse a couple of team sheets ahead of the deadline as they will be announced at 11am. We usually give you separate run-downs between the game-weeks on the fixtures, tips and our captains picks but with so little time we will aim to give you a whistle stop tour of who we feel have the best of each for GW19 but don’t forget to check back on the GW18 articles for each one as all those also address GW19 but without the hindsight of having seen GW18 first!
We will begin with a quick reminder as to the full fixture list for GW19 itself –

Man City
[three_fourth padding=”0 20px 0 0″]
[/three_fourth]Another strong performance to keep up the pressure on leaders Chelsea and the second game in a row that they have scored three goals without a recognised srtiker. Milner once again did what we suggested he would which is to run the defenders into distraction and allow the likes of David Silva to profit from deep. Silva now has a whopping 30 points in the last two games and is clearly the one profiting from this new system. Three goals, an assist and the full 6 bonus points suggest that he’s the one to be on, now if only he had a decent fixture in GW19. Oh hang it’s Burnley. At home. Bingo. City have scored 15 goals at home, Burnley have conceded 15 away. City have scored 39 in total, Burnley have conceded 27 in total.City have won 6/8 at home, Burnley have lost 5/8 away. City are second from top, Burnley are second from bottom… Yeah, ok, ok enough, we can see where this one is going…
Others to consider –
Pablo Zabaleta – having been giving a rest away at West Brom surely the marauding full-back will play out City’s remaining teo festive fixtures. Picking up his third assist of the season in his last outing, he was unlucky not be on the score sheet as well. He’s also playing for the team with the second best home defensive record in the league (5 goals) with two home games ahead. Assuming he starts both, which he should, he’s a relative bargain compared to what Leighton Baines has produced lately and he has two away fixtures on the bounce. Put it into perspctive – Zabaleta in GW17 alone – 11 points. Baines in GW’s 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18 in total – 8 points.
Yaya Toure – The big man keeps lumbering around from one game to the next but still keeps collecting fantasy points as he goes. It’s hard not to when you play for City, even Fernando got some this week! He’s now got 3 goals in 4 games, in fact it’s 5 in the last 7 if you go back even further to the exact point in time he woke up and realised the season had actually started. Of course some of those have been penalties but hey don’t knock it, that’s his job now too and he’s pretty good at it.

QPR
[three_fourth padding=”0 20px 0 0″]
[/three_fourth]Those who kept the faith in QPR (aka Charlie Austin) to deliver a little something this week, even away at Arsenal, were duly rewarded with a late Christmas present as he notched his 12th goal of the season and a little cheeky one bonus point to go with it. Most managers that owned him will have kept him regardless as QPR’s overall fixture run was good beyond that game anyway (Palace H, Swansea H, Burnley A) and so whether you benched him or not rest assured you can play him with gleeful abandon for a good few weeks now and probably consider him for the captaincy in most of those games. QPR’s home form has been well documented and Austin is at the heart of all that with 9 of his goals and all 3 of his assists coming at home. In fact that means he’s had a hand in 12 of QPR’s 17 home goals. On that point there are only 4 teams that have scored more at home and those are all in the top 6. Add to that opponents Palace have dropped into the relegation zone and have only won once away and have the joint 3rd worst away defensive record… Yeah, ok, ok enough, we can see where this one is going too…!
Also consider –
Well in all honesty we probably wouldn’t bother with anyone else. Austin or bust.

Aston Villa
[three_fourth padding=”0 20px 0 0″]
[/three_fourth]Two losses, three draws, two wins, a loss, a draw and a loss. That’s their last ten game sequence, it’s inconsistent and pretty much sums Villa’s season up. And only 7 goals to the good in those 10 games. So what’s to like? Probably not much in all fairness other than a slightly favourable fixture run that sees them have two good games up next against Sunderland and Palace. Our outside tip here is Christian Benteke. again on the face of it he has 28 points all season but consider that 24 of those have been in the last 5 weeks. That’s still less than 5 a week but this is a player that playing his way back into both form and fitness and by all accounts has started to look sharp and hungry. Add into that the lack of viable options in his price range for teams that actually have both a forward that plays regularly or is indeed fit and has decent fixtures and Benteke starts to look like a very viable punt for the next couple of weeks.
Also consider –
Brad Guzan. Villa’s only player who has actually scored over 50 points this season and is assured of his place with two favourable home fixtures and priced at just £4.7m. If you are having a keeper crisis and need a quick fix you could do much worse than grab Brad.

Arsenal
[three_fourth padding=”0 20px 0 0″]
[/three_fourth]Perhaps not the easiest fixture away at West Ham but also perhaps with one of the best players in tow all is never lost. Alexis Sanchez arrived from Barcelona having looked every inch at home there and that has shown so far with his class oozing from every pore. He’s no show pony, he’s just brilliant and accentuates that with a work rate and desire that quite frankly puts his team-mates to shame and actually forces them to raise their game such is his stature, albeit as diminuative as he is. He’s top of the FPL scoring charts and that’s no accident. He scores all types of goals – six yard predator, long range hits, headers he has no right to win, the list goes on and on. The only shock this past week was that he is pretty poor at penalties! That little err probably cost his owners about 8 points. 16 for those that captained him. Sorry, we know it still hurts. Quite why he took it we still aren’t sure as Cazorla took the last one when Sanchez was on the pitch and produced a nonchalant chip down the middle. Maybe Wenger took exception to the arrogance of it. Still we’d rather that than missing, but either way it would have been an assist for Sanchez as he won it in the first place had someone else scored it. Anyway we are going off the point which is that this guy is electric and it doesn’t matter who’s he’s facing we would back him to produce. West Ham looked a bit limp at Chelsea and may have found their level there but then most teams do. With Giroud being suspended for this trip, Sanchez will possibly be asked to play up top or at least assume an even more advanced position again. If you don’t own him yet then we suggest you do very soon.
Also consider –
Santi Cazorla. The little Spaniard has been oft overlooked so far, but probably from his early lack of production. He managed to go the first 14 GW’s with no goals and just 2 assists. He’s had a resurgence since with 3 goals, an assist and 5 bonus points in the last 4 weeks though to move him back onto our radar a bit. In fact 41 0f 63 season points have come in the last 6 weeks. He’s on some free kicks and given Sanchez’s penalty woe he’ll likely be back on those too.

The SNOW!
Just a little something to keep an eye – as you will see from some of our pictures above it started snowing in the UK at around mid afternoon on Friday. This continued into the night in some parts and the forecast was varied but freezing temperatures were mentioned. Keep tabs on the weather updates as this may affect a few Sunday games depending on localised weather. Our experience learned from last season is that it isn’t the condition of the pitch that matters any more it’s the condition of the approach to the ground – the streets and surrounding areas. There was snowfall in the North West but as we speak that seems to have stopped and is thawing away. The Midlands looked quite badly affected too but there were reports of it being widespread so keep an eye and ear on the news is the message here.

And don’t forget to cast your vote in this weeks Captains Poll –
[polldaddy poll=8408892]
Will Chambers play?
Unsure as was on the bench but IMO it’s not worth the risk
To what? I have him already aha , just makes transferring Baines out more risky with fewer playing defenders.
Austin silva or YYT as cappo??
Going Silva, Mitro, and I have all three too.
The stats in the article make it a perfect match.
Although I have switched between the pair of them (Austin and Silva) numerous times already. Both at home, both on form, both against weak teams..anybody’s guess who performs better-hopefully they both rake in the points.
Austin For Me !
its a tough one. Really need to have my captain firing. Last time I captained Austin he got me 34, last time I captained silva I got 4
May have to flip a coin!!!
Cheers for this Innit, hopefully the snow doesn’t stop Charlie Austin 😉 This is my current team, feel like i need a city player given their fixtures, so what does everyone think of Baines- Mangala, Chadli- Silva and Bony- Bentekkers?
For a 4 point hit? Go for it. It could really work against you but that’s a risk you got to take. I like all 3 moves.
Reason why I like the move is because all 3 have ”TWO” good home fixtures ahead and could do very well. It’s still a game though, for all we know Chadli goes on a rampage versus United and Baines scores a penalty. That’s life. It’s a calculated risk. But if I were you I’d go with my gut. Like I told someone on the other page. Rather have done something that felt good with the risk it could go wrong, than not to do it and regret it. I still have too many regrets this season. HAHA.
Few weeks back I could take in Silva and ummm Austin in for a hit. I felt Austin would be on fire. I didn’t do it because I had Sakho and Yaya. Well, a lot of good that has done for me.
Raz
appreciate this raz man, Yeah i like Silva and tekkers in, it crossed my mind i could maybe take out Clyne insted of Baines? How long do you plan on keeping Baines for? Dude has done my head in last few weeks
Hard one. At the moment, everything went against him. The clean sheet thing with bad ref decisions (last 5 games they conceded just 1 goal in 4 of them, just 1). If you now look at United, people bringing in DDG and well, United have been freaking lucky getting any cleansheets this season, their defense is a bloody joke.
And also saw glimpses of the last Everton game and I did again see Baines push forward. As back running past the last defender towards the goalie. How often you see a back do that? Not often. Ref again failed to gave the player the fouled him a red. Anyway, the bad luck streak could go on but at the moment I’ll keep my faith in Baines. Don’t care what others say. And not because he’s a good luck charm like the FF247 calls him. 😉

FFS, this is the second or third time I”m trying to send this. AAAAAARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! SEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Defence at the moment is Clichy, Jagielka, Hutton, Clyne and Yun. Looking for a replacement for Jagielka & would have 8.3m.
Ideas be great as was looking at Chelsea ppls & that would have 3 Chelsea ppl starting
do you have a city or chelsea defender at the moment?
No Chelsea and Clichy at the back with Hart in goal
Terry or Cahill or me
Can replace Yun with either & keep Jagielka on the bench. Terry played every game and scored the last two but Chelsea resting him my only concern

Ok lets get back to it, I’ve not bothered too much with my EPL team so far this year but its about time that I started to pay better attention to it so what would people do with my team? Got two FT’s in hand, probably wouldn’t move out Benteke (so don’t mention him) but I havent been watching football/soccer for a while so I’ve no idea with fixtures or form, so please help.
Thanks for the article Kop.
I would try & get city coverage at the back of u have the money
Forgot about my kitty money
Got 4.8 in the piggy bank
City defender like Demi who will start is a option
Champion, thanks razor
Andy
Guven that you haven’t payed much attention you have a decent side there, moves i see are Welbeck to Austin and given how much money you have left upgrade a defender to one from Chelsea or city?
Cheers Duthers, appreciate it
Andy!!!!! Welcome back. You’ll have about 75 free transfers in the bank now I imagine. Welbeck to Austin, pick any defender to Zabaleta, capo Austin or Silva, job done, back in the game I reckon. Well ok you may have a few places to make it but that teams certainly survived the ‘NFL’ hibernation pretty well considering!
I’ve put my money into the Demichellis bus innit as I’m hoping he’ll have more chance of playing the next two over zabs, tough call though with squad rotation these days, anything can happen. I’m just going to make the 1 ft and save my other 74 free ones for gw 20. No doubt I’ll be dropping that Jan WC nice and early in 2015. NFL was a blast with the one man one team rule but I’m looking forward to the grind of the EPL.
