Fantasy Football World Cup 2022

Well, we never thought we’d be writing a World Cup article in November… never mind one about a World Cup in Qatar, but hey, money speaks, evidently. Whatever your feelings about this one it is here and it is happening so we may as well embrace it. After all… #footballscominghome

The good (?) people at FIFA, or to give them their new name FIFA+, have launched a fantasy game and as you’d expect we are all over it. The following is a run down of where to find it, how to play it, the fixtures, the deadlines and most importantly how you can join in the fun in the FF247 Regs League.

After that this article will act as a month long World Cup version of Live Match Chat. Much like the Champions League one does. In fact the whole game is very Champions League-like. If you have played that you will get the gist of this one pretty quickly, if not do not worry as we shall attempt to talk you through the basics below. Failing that just pop a comment in the chat below and we shall answer any query for you, regardless of how daft!

BTW… it’s coming home wink

The Game Itself
You can access the game here – https://play.fifa.com/fantasy-classic/

The FF247 Regs League
We are only running the one league and there is only one way to enter it…
Please email us on contact@fantasyfootball247.co.uk if you want the code for this one.

You must include your FF247 username and your FIFA+ Fantasy World Cup team name in the email, or we will simply ignore it.

The purpose of this one is that it is for folk who are on the FF247 forum regularly and taking part in the regular FF247 WC chat. Please don’t try to join if you aren’t. We will know, and we will boot you out.

The Regs Standings
This will be updated as we go along, as per the CL ones.

The Basics
You can access all of the rules themselves here but the main points are as follows…

Scoring
The scoring is similar to FPL only that keepers get 9 for scoring a goal (may as well be 25?!), defenders 7 and mids and fwds 5 each. Mids get 1 point extra for both 2 key passes and for every 3 tackles. Fwds get 1 point for every 2 shots on target.

Chips aka Boosters
Worth noting as there are a couple of odd ones…

‘Matchdays’
The stages are split into 7 different ‘matchdays’…

Players per team
As per CL this increases through the stages…

Amount of transfers
Likewise there are different stages to this…

Captain and Sub Rules
Those who are familiar with CL rules can skip this bit but for those who aren’t then this is super important. Basically you can keep changing your Captain Armband to another player who is yet to play, within each Matchday, until you land on one that you are happy with, as long as you do it before the next players game begins. Likewise with subs you can bring one in to replace a player who has played, but has perhaps not done as well as you would have liked. It’s basically rolling the dice until you are happy to stick.

MD5 Fixtures – QF’s (and possible SF’s)

Honestly I guess both Senegal and Netherlands will easily score against these 2 teams (QAT and ECU).
Both Estupinan and Hincapie are left footed and have not much control on right foot. Torres looked sloppy as well. Only Mendez looked okay. Gallindez not even tested. Preciado played up as there was no threat from QAT left side.

    Still no points here?

Game very slow at updating info
Was thinking of wildcarding in md2, but don’t trust the game enough to do the wildcard “Switch-a-roo thingy” , to cover md3 too?

    GoalMachine says:

Are you all WC’ing in MD2? ……to take the FH in MD3.

      • GoalMachine says:

You activate WC in MD2 which remains active till last day Midnight of MD2 (28.11). After the last match of MD2 (POR-URU), as WC is still active, you transfer out all your LOCKED players and get a complete new squad for MD3.
Thats how you sort of get a FH (implicitly) for MD3.

        • Reg83 says:

I am confused. If I activate WC in MD2 wont it be applicable for MD3?
If WC is activated before MD2 starts, then it will apply for MD2. IF WC is activated after MD2 starts, it should apply for MD3.
Isnt this how it is or am I missing obvious something here?

        • GoalMachine says:

This is the possible loophole in the rule. None of us are 100% sure, but apparently it is a possibility.
          (1) Yes, you activate WC before MD2 starts, it is only activated for MD2. But MD2 spans across 25-28.11.
——– Possibility 1: WC remains active for the entire 4 days.
——– Possibility 2: It is deactivated once MD2 starts and we get again 2 transfers like today, this loophole then will not work.

          (2) If possibility 1 is true, then as I said you can transfer out all your players and get a new team for MD3 under running WC FOR MD2. You can read the transfer rule especially clauses a+b below.

Transfer rule: involving a locked player (as per RULES section)

          a. If you do this, the transfer will only become active for the next Matchday ——(i.e. MD3 in our case)
          b. If the player you transferred out was locked, you will keep the points they earned this Matchday —- (i.e. for MD2)
          c. If the player you transferred in was locked, but your outgoing player was unlocked. You will still receive the points for your unlocked player when they play in the Matchday. However, you will not be able to make another transfer involving this player in the current Matchday (as they are involved in an upcoming Transfer).

        • GoalMachine says:

Booster rule: It says remain active until the end of MD (i.e. MD2 in our case)

—- You will not be able to reverse a booster once it has been confirmed and a booster will remain active up until the end of the current matchday.
—- All Boosters must be activated before the first fixture in the Matchday.

        • Bigpopz says:

Do we really believe this crappy website will allow this to work?
I’m still waiting for my points from just 1 game that finished nearly 2 hours ago…ffs wacko

        • GoalMachine says:

@Bigpopz, I am waiting for QATAR midnight in next 1:10 Hrs to see if points appear. I guess they do a calculation only at mid-night AST when all batch jobs run. This is purely my assumption. If it does not appear, then yes, its scrappy. I hope at least it appears before next match starts and not at the end of the MD.

        • GoalMachine says:

Honestly I don’t even know if the loophole works and thats why asked the question. If I see majority is going to take advantage of it, I will go for it too.
Other option is to WC in QF – if R16 predictions go massively wrong, we might end up with a few players.

        • Otieno says:

GM. Be careful. GW3 starts immediately the POR v URU finishes. So if your plan works you will need to make your GW3 team while that match is in play. After it finishes your WC will be inactive.

        • Kruzcampo says:

          Couldn’t be bothered smile

    • 123.2
      GoalMachine says:

@Otieno Thats true, but I guess you keep on changing your team every day from 25-28 for your already locked players and wait till the last game. I am possibly not going to have any player from POR-URU except Rochet.

      Aarron13 says:

Are you sure this glitch will work?

  4. 124

I am already tired of all this.
England players are detriment to wear the OneLove, and quite rightly, armbands. That will contradict with the WC weird rules, therefore they will be punished somehow. This WC will be the most controversial ever and the things are going with the fantasy game points, is there a point wacko

Fair to say it’s been a nightmare WC for the Asian teams. Maybe Saudi Arabia can surprise Argentina right? wink
