Who are you? Who are you? Fantasy manager profiles Part 12

Here at FF247 towers we’ve often wondered what driving forces hide behind a comment or a rate my team reply, do we really know the mindset and the persona of the people we are conversing with?! To find the answers to these questions we have lured some regulars from out of their caves and got them to endure a simple Q&A session.
Hopefully this will help us to uncover whether each member can be viewed as a ‘fellow sports enthusiast’, ‘colleague’, ‘fantasy friend’, ‘internet troll’ or indeed ‘sociopath’! Let’s take a look inside the minds of our latest two ‘victims’ then and see whether, hiding behind the cute monkey gravatars, lurks a sadistic, megalomaniacal, psychotic keyboard warrior. Or just a normal guy or gal who likes to play fantasy football…
We will add a disclaimer here – we have resolved to not edit what is sent in at all. What you see is what you (we) get. FPL ranks were correct at the time of sending as well so may be much worse by now! Or better…
Next up to the examination table are the swirly and Horse.

In my years of watching football including 8 years in the Premiership this was the most awe inspiring display of football I have been privileged to witness. The Invincibles were simply majestic. Best cheap, 5th midfielder to go for? Lower in price than Boyd preferably..

    • 14.1
      Andy says:

I think you’ll be lucky to find anything that would find you more than 2 points on a regular basis at that price range.

      Best playing options are

      Quinn Hull 4.5
      Hammond? Lei 4.4
      Sanchez AV 4.4
      Cattermole Sun 4.4
      Lucas Liv 4.3

With that sort of budget I’d be tempted to just pick up a 4.2 valued player and invest the .2 or .3 saved elsewhere in the squad.

      Bonza says:

A mid worth having who’s cheaper than 4.7? That’s a tall order. To be honest, my answer would be “nobody”. If you find that you can’t afford Boyd (or another 4.7 mid), then I think you need to look at downgrading elsewhere in your team. You could buy someone like David Jones, who gets 2 pts every game, but what’s the point? You only have to spend 3.9 to get a defender who will bring in the same, along with the occasional clean sheet. If you get your budget up to 5.5 then there are some much better options at mid, for eg Puncheon or Elia.

Marney of Burnley is 4.4m but as Andy says he is just a steady 2 pointer.

      NIN says:

AT – Marney is nailed on and is 4.4m. I couldn’t afford Boyd when i was on my WC so i went with Marney. Decent shout, which is about all that can be expected from such cheap fillers.

    RedVT says:

Hey guys, I’ve been playing around with my front 8 trying to work some differentials in, as well as bringing in Costa. Which of these do you like better? I have 2FT so I could make these moves with no hits over the next 2 GWs. My team is linked if you want to see the current state of affairs. laugh

    Puncheon Sanchez Hazard Cazorla Boyd
    Aguero Costa Kane

    or

    JWP Sanchez Hazard Silva Boyd
    Aguero Costa Giroud

I kinda like team 2 because it gives me 2 City attackers and Giroud up top instead of Kane. But I’m concerned about JWPs minutes and points vs Puncheon. Any opinions one way or the other?

    • 15.1
      AT says:

Maybe I’m the wrong person to give you an answer because I rate JWP massively but 7 assists in the 8 games where he has played over 60 minutes (ok 9 including the 59 minute one ;)) is impressive. His game time is fairly consistent and strong, Koeman was hardly going to play him 90 straight after his long spell on the sidelines.

    • 15.2
      Andy says:

I’ll agree with the second option looking better Red, I’ve been big on Giroud and I think he’ll return good value for money on his points returns down the stretch down the stretch.

Would it be possible to turn Silva into Di Maria with that though Red, maybe you can get away without double City coverage whilst Yaya’s away ath the ACON, Man Utd’s next 2 home fixtures look good for some goals with Leicester and Burnley both goig to Old Trafford.

    • 15.3
      EBC says:

      JWP, Di Maria, Pelle

    • 15.4
      RedVT says:

Thank you AT, Andy, and EBC. After the Chelsea match City have some decent looking fixtures, so I think I’d like to hang onto Silva for a bit. I appreciate your thoughts and will keep looking at things over the break. Cheers fellas.

    AT says:

Does anybody know why Cameron was sidelined this weekend?
Will he continue his starting role from next GW?

  5. 17
    AT says:

Okay this is the WC team situation, would greatly appreciate some comments…

    Problems at the back:
Bellerin is a rotation risk although willing to take it. However, if he weren’t to start, Baird and (now) Cameron may also be rotated…seems wrong/risky/stupid to set a WC team up plagued with rotation issues. Want to keep Terry with the fixtures he has after City.

In the middle..£1m is the problem!
    No problems up top!

    hi all

that was an gameweek to forget. only 27 point on wc team so not happy at all.

anyway, what should i do this gameweeek.

should i hold my free trade or get rid of someone but don’t know who.

    thankyou very much in advance

      • Bongo says:

Squad looks good to me, maybe the double attacking Spurs coverage could be a problem seen as they are quite unpredictable. Maybe take a short term punt on Puncheon for Chadli maybe.
        Good luck smile

        • stewy 10 says:

thanks Bongo, i was think may to get downing for chadli then may down grade sliva to Eriksen

        • Bongo says:

Yeah, you can’t doubt Downings returns when he plays in the hole for sure, problem being there fixtures aren’t great. Erikson is class but leaves you doubled up again smile

        • stewy 10 says:

very true, who should i get for double up

        • stewy 10 says:

sorry, meant who should i get for the double up then. get downing and get rid of silva for someone

        • Bongo says:

Sorry stewy, I didn’t mean double as in make two transfers, I was referring to having two Spurs attacking players if you were to bring in Erikson. If I were you because you have double Spurs and double city coverage away against two tight defences. I would look to replace either Chadli for Puncheon or Silva for maybe Di Maria. Either way I would sit tight to see what unfolds with potential new signings or even any injurys that may accur.

      Raziel says:

Okay, a short little look won’t hurt anyone.

Think you’ve been unlucky. You let go of Costa and that’s your main problem. Don’t see anything wrong with this team. I’m gonna do Silva to Di Maria but then again that’s a risk.

      • stewy 10 says:

        thanks raz for that

        • Raziel says:

Most wildcard teams from the past week completely failed. It’s a bit like when I had to use mine I think early November. I got rid of Austin on my WC team because he had a suspension (while I had him for ages), the week after the suspension dude scores a hatty. Really annoying. Shit happens though.

        • stewy 10 says:

when i wc near the same time you did i didn’t push my luck and did really well for seven gameweeks. but this wc i think i push my luck to hard and got caught
