Fantasy Premier League 2015-16 Pre-Season Round up

Hello. Happy Summer everyone and welcome to your Pre-Season Article. The article is intended as a ‘work-in-progress’ and a workspace where we can keep each other up to date with all the latest line-up and substitution news for all twenty of this season’s Premier League teams ahead of our final selection of our fantasy squads.

We should also record the scoreline particulars including the all-important scorers, assisters and ‘nearly men’. Any salient information such as a defender on penalty kicks duties, a midfielder playing striker or Asmir Begovic playing some part in a Chelsea match to let him think he has a chance of playing this season, can be found here.

Of course, if you are lucky enough to witness any of the action, your opinion is valued too so let us know who impresses and doesn’t impress during these games.

Now you may have noticed the cunning use of “your”, “we”, and “each other” above. This is not a one-man band, because I’m useless musically and I’m not on at all hours (as much as I would like to be), so please do get involved – get the line-ups ‘up’ and the opinions flowing.

Currently happy with this team. Just like a few opinions?

    Fabianski
    Koscielny-Cedric-Richards
    Hazard-Cazorla-Yaya-Milner-Ritchie
    Costa-Rodriguez

    Rudd, Berahino, O’Shea, Muniesa

    Nothing in the bank. Thoughts?

      Silverback says:

Hey Tom if you are going with 1 GK I would rather someone from top 4 clubs but it could work solid team Swa , not sure if Yaya will turn up this season I also wouldn’t have Berahino just yet tough fixtures all good otherwise

    Slow Poison says:

Thats it, Im getting rid of Benteke… Cant have a Liverpool striker upfront, any suggestions on how to overhaul this without another Liverpool player. Henderson is the only exception

      PeterPan says:

A fellow Saffa!! but pitty about being an Arsenal fan…. 😉
Downgrade your 5th mid maybe and do Sanchez to another Arsenal mid (since he will miss the 1st 3 weeks I think).
Use the cash to improve our defence.
Maybe look at JRod in for Benteke?

      Ant0800 says:

That whole team needs scrapping smile.

Herrera probably wont get a sniff now.

Your defence is very very weak.

Starting without Aguero and Sanchez could start you on a really bad week.

But on the bright side you do have Benteke who i think will do great at Liverpool now.

      Silverback says:

Hey Slow players to get rid of Sanchez , Berahino , Herrea , Hoban & Ward put Wally in place of Sanchez which will give you 2m to play about with to change some of the others 😉

Thanks guys, I shall play around and overhaul this team

    Hi Fellas,
Its a pleasure to join you boys on 247. i am pool fanatic and love my fpl, managed to finish 1026 last season on fantasy, hope everyone has been enjoying the open and the ashes.

    Azpi/morgan/cedric/ toby/ oshea
    Ozil/Walcott/Fabregas/ richie/ yaya

    azpi/ / Cedric/sakho/lescott/ Francis
    Fab/ Wally/ Chadli/ yaya/ abdi

    thanks all

      inittowinit says:

Hi tekkers, welcome to the site. Looks like you got overlooked in the clamour to welcome Patrick!

I like the first team better I think. I wouldn’t go double Arsenal in mid though but it could work if they click. Lukaku is a tough one. Better season expected from them and him but those opening fixtures are awful after the first game.

As for Kun, GW4 sounds about right. I’m sure you can plan ahead knowing you’ll do that without having to use a WC but may be a good time anyway depending on how things are looking and which players are showing themselves.

I’ve pondered over Costa and can’t decide in all honesty. Hazard is the one who stands out more who could hurt you.

      • tekkers says:

thanks inittowinit, haha i know. ye i was thinking this, but then thought i could drop one for mata, depay or di maria when i know he is most nailed on. also will be interesting on theos game time. ye thinking tekkers for lukaku now, but if i have no transfers to do i may go lukaku as i can see him killing watford… cheers for the advice mate and good to be on board…

        • inittowinit says:

Good reasoning for sure. Play both first week with a favourable opening game and then see how the land lies over at United, I like it. Lukaku feels like a 1 weeker to me too. If you can do that with a view to moving him along then I think its worth it.

    • 93.2

Hey, Tekkers welcome to the site. Think team B for me although wouldn’t have those 3 defenders, Sahko, Lescott and Francis. In team A wouldn’t have 2 Arse mids either. E-mail me and i’ll get you in the FF247 Regulars League.

      chins says:

      Hi Tekkers!

Welcome aboard. I’ve used all my energy in typing my welcome to Patrick_YMCA, so this will have to be a shorter one. Sorry about that. Please don’t be offended.

I will say though, that the user name you’ve chosen does carry quite a bit of weight around here. – One of our regular posters “Tekno”, likes to be called Tekkers, so don’t be alarmed if others start sending you abusive messages. – They were probably meant for him, not you.

Re. your teams…. I think Everton tend to be slow starters (i haven’t checked the fixtures) and so i’d maybe not go for Lukaku.

Double Arsenal with those two might work if Ozil gets the number 10 role and Wally plays up top. Might want to wait and see how preseason develops on that one though.

Cedric whilst cheap(ish) is a bit of a yellow card magnet. I see lots with him in their teams though.

Just my early thoughts / ramblings. – I tend to not start picking my team until the 24 hours before the start of the season so feel free to ignore me. smile

And.. Welcome! In case i didn’t already say that!

      • tekkers says:

thanks chins, i am mighty impressed by the welcomes even if they dont quite compare to patricks! good to join you lads on 247. haha noted, should of done probably done my research on names before… to be honest everton fixtures get off to a stinker apart from the first game home against watford, plan was to get tekkers after that. but maybe worth just starting with tekkers away to stoke then with pool if deal goes through, which looks likely.

ye good advice, just wanted to see who would be more effective of the two and cant choose right now and undecided on man u attack….

ye heard this, heard he also gets assists to make up for this? matty targett is tempting while berty is out and only 4 mill.

haha no some very good advice from you chins.

thanks again for the humbling welcome and great to be here!

    Mr Bean says:

Afternoon guys (and girls if there are any)

Was just wondering, with the first wildcard to be played before December 28th, how do you guys plan on using this?

Will you save it in case if injuries or bad performance or do you have a planned week to use it?

Last season I set my original team to maximise my points for the first 3 weeks (defense was solely based on first 3 games) and then planned to wildcard going into gameweek 4. After GW3 I was in 500th position and actually felt my team was so good I didn’t need to wildcard.

I feel like I might try the same tactic this year and set up for the first 3 weeks. Saving the wildcard just doesn’t sound useful for the first half of the season.

    Thoughts?

    • 94.1
      NIN says:

Late November/Early December is when i had eyed up to use it. If it’s necessary before hand then fair enough, it’ll have to be done. Once it’s not played willy-nilly then it shouldn’t matter as our 2nd one is for the whole 2nd half of the season.

      • Patrick_YNWA says:

        Thanks for the explanations fellas.
My first thought is to use one December, sort of like what NIN said.
The top of the table at Christmas tends to win the league, and so by then we’ll have a good indication as to where teams will finish and which players are going to perform/keep on performing.
Sounds like a good time to change up the front and backlines especially, depending on who are contenders for GoldenBoot and which team seems to keep a clean sheet every week!

    • 94.2
      Patrick_YNWA says:

      How does this wildcard work?

      • NIN says:

In the FPL game, scroll up until you see the “Help” tab. Click on that and all the rules are in there. It’s definitely worth reading them all before the season starts.

        • Patrick_YNWA says:

Fair enough haha. I should have done that to begin with. Thing is, I should be doing homework

Also, I’m undecided as to which 2 strikers I should have with Deeney/Ulloa out of Rooney, Costa and Kane. I’m thinking Kane and Rooney, even if it’s just because I don’t like Costa

        • NIN says:

Definitely. I’ve been playing FF for years now and every season, without fail, the first thing done is to reread the rules, in full, in case of changes/new features. There’s a lot to know but it wont take long to get on top of it. The reason i’m suggesting this and not directly answering the question is because it’s basic, so that says to me that there’s a boat load going on int the game that you’re unaware of, being a new player. Best to familiarize yourself with it and then move on to picking a squad

As for the striker debacle, i’d suggest Costa and Rooney to start (even though i’m very unsure of Rooney). Could easily move Rooney out for Kane if he’s crap, banking £1m in the process, which will come in handy for when the King (Sergio Aguero) returns to full fitness.

      • bihom17 says:

This year we get one wildcard for the first half of the season and one for the second half. When you use it you’ll get unlimited transfers until the next game week deadline, just like you have now.

      • photek says:

You get 2 wildcards per season where you can make wholesale changes to your team and the transfers won’t cost you any points.
Good to use when planning for a big double gameweek or if you have a lot of injuries / suspensions at the same time.

      • Andy says:

Your basically on a wild card now pat, it gives you the ability to make as many transfers as you want in any given gw, if you make more than 1 transfer in a GW the game starts deducting points from you, you can use this WC at any time you want until the end of the year as we get another one then.

    • 94.3
      Wafflez says:

If my pics for the first weeks is way off and i need to do to many hits i will use my wc early i think

  5. 95
    photek says:

    draft #2592

    any thoughts?

    speroni / schmeic
    cedric / darmian / richards / mings / ward
    haz / santi / depay / milner / dyer
    kun / J Rod / Sakho

    • 95.1
      NIN says:

Double Palace defence, Richards and Sakho stand out to me as concerns. Not sure which Dyer that is in midfield, if it’s the Swansea one, then that’s another issue i think.

      • photek says:

        cheers Nin,
not a fan of Sakho then or just don’t see West Ham doing well?
It is the Swansea one but i’ve changed him out to Anja now to get a bit more money lol

        • NIN says:

photek – I just think they’ve made a big mistake in changing manager and letting Downing go. I don’t rate Bilic as a manager and actually think he’ll be sacked pretty quickly. He/they could do well but i’m not confident of it.

  6. 96
    Ant0800 says:

Does anyone think itd a good idea starting with Aguero and benching him, or is that a waste of money.? He could be out for the first few weeks… Is that right?.

    • 96.1
      Wafflez says:

Probably out, i think i will start with costa or rooney and bring kun in for gw 4 ….

    • 96.2
      NIN says:

Personally, i cant see any benefit of having a £13m player on the bench. He might be out for a bit but it’s still very unclear.

    • 96.3
      inittowinit says:

You can’t bench that much money for 3 weeks! Do as Wafflez said.

    • 96.4
      Andy says:

I actually think he’ll play GW 1 this year unless Pellegrini has stated otherwise, GW 2 looks to important for Citeh to be Kun-less with their match up with Chelski, I actually don’t think Elle Pelle will be given much time at the start of the season if results don’t go City’s way.

Of course if he doesn’t look likely to play then no way could he be afforded on the subs bench.
