Fantasy Premier League 2015-16 Pre-Season Round up

Hello. Happy Summer everyone and welcome to your Pre-Season Article. The article is intended as a ‘work-in-progress’ and a workspace where we can keep each other up to date with all the latest line-up and substitution news for all twenty of this season’s Premier League teams ahead of our final selection of our fantasy squads.

We should also record the scoreline particulars including the all-important scorers, assisters and ‘nearly men’. Any salient information such as a defender on penalty kicks duties, a midfielder playing striker or Asmir Begovic playing some part in a Chelsea match to let him think he has a chance of playing this season, can be found here.

Of course, if you are lucky enough to witness any of the action, your opinion is valued too so let us know who impresses and doesn’t impress during these games.

Now you may have noticed the cunning use of “your”, “we”, and “each other” above. This is not a one-man band, because I’m useless musically and I’m not on at all hours (as much as I would like to be), so please do get involved – get the line-ups ‘up’ and the opinions flowing.

  1. Hi All:
I am new to this site…last year was a awsome…mostly due to tips and direction I got here…this is my first draft…any comment or advise will be appreciated..thanks

    • Welcome to the site shabbyd.

      A few things to note;

      – Morgan is unlikely to start the season as he’s been on international duty all summer Maybe Huth instead?
      – You might have inveted a little too much in defence. I assume you’ll play Darmian & Azpi every game, therefore I’m not sure if you need two 5.0m defenders. Maybe downgrade PvA to O’Shea and Alderweireld to another 4.5m defender. This give you 1.0m to spend elsewhere.
      – Your mifdield is very strong but that has led to you having two cheap & unproven strikers. Personally I would look to downgrade either Milner or Chadli and maybe upgrade one of the cheap strikers.

      • Thanks Kop!! New version is already in process…;)

    • Pretty spectacular midfield but the forward line is really weak. You need to move some funds up top and get a regular goalscorer to go along with Rooney.

      • I think I will go with Benteke along with Rooney…only concern is when its time to bring Kun in I have to downgrade him or one of my mid…that will depend on how the season starts…thanks for the tip.

    • ShabbyD.

      Welcome.

      Please don’t leave.

      That is all.

  2. Evening Lads, we had a conversation earlier about Rooney playing upfront and I just thought I’d say I just read an article saying LVG may bring in a surprise attacker signing. This could make Rooney sit back a bit more. Just thought I’d let anyone know that was thinking of Rooney as a lone striker.

    • Evening Matt. Even if they do bring in another top quality striker, Rooney would most likely play #10 and I’d still fancy him to do the business from there.

      • Didn’t he play #10 last season? He didn’t have the best of seasons last year was inconsistent in my opinion got a load of points at one stage and then went long periods with 1 or 2 points.

        • He played in midfield for large chunks of last season!

        • Seriously though… Yeah he wasn’t the best but they were struggling as a team and adapting to new methods and also new personnel. 12 months on I expect that to be a different story. A settled and loved Rooney who knows he’s the main man (think back to anytime he felt threatened – he chucked his toys out and wanted to leave) is a good Rooney.

        • Ye that’s true I think United will be a stronger unit this year and I’m sure Rooney will get better I just don’t know about trusting him so much from the outset.

    • The “surprise” forward could well be Pedro. That wouldn’t affect Rooney at all. I cant think of anyone else that it could be.

      • Naismith. Now that’s surprise you laugh Hibbert can come as part of a BOGOF deal.

        • Haha, i doubt we could get our mitts on Roberto’s favorites 😉

  3. Any thoughts on who the “train-wreck” team will be for this year? I am guessing Aston Villa.

    • Ye that’s who I’m going for too.

    • Watford most likely.

    • Definitely Villa for me too. Them and WHU are in trouble i think.

    • Southampton have to fall off a cliff sooner or later, no way can they keep on sustaining this type of form whilst losing half of their defenders each and every season, add Europe to the mix now and I think they’ll regress a lot on the last two seasons, Villa do look like a club in car crash mode.

    • Yep they are gone!!

      • Villa, Watford, West Ham and Southampton on that list then even though I am not entirely convinced S’hampton belong on that list. I would venture to say that should Everton lose young Stones, Everton are probably in a more precarious position?

  4. Evening all!!

    How are we all today?

Is anyone paying to use fantasy football fix this season, if so what package are you going for?

    • I went for the pro guide Mitro

      • Hi Kop – that’s what I was leaning towards aswell! Does it look good?

        • It does Mitro. In fairness to the lads at Fix, everything they do is very professional and works well.

As Init has just pointed out, all our users get a 20% discount by clicking on the ad on our homepage.

        • Kop, i hope you didn’t just accept the 20% discount without shopping around first?!

          #SoMoneySupermarket

    • Funny that! There’s a advert on the home page with a 20% discount for our site users.

    • Is it off limits unless we pay?

      • Kop said he’d pay and then share all the info with us.

      • Thats why i can’t get on their site. Oh well back to total fpl for me. :shake:

        • elle, is that site still running? I assumed it would have dwindled off by now..

      • Hi NIN – Think you can still use the GW live tool and that – it is a great website – obviously not as good as this one though! smile (fingers crossed that gets me a FF247 mug)

      • NIN, my understanding is that certain aspects of the site will be free. I’ve just emailed them to find out for sure.

      • NIN, here’s the answer from the guys at Fix…

The fantasyfootballfix.com guide has exclusive content, features, and early site access to all fix features.
When the season kicks off, fix will still have free features, but the guide will remain exclusive and fix will continue to update and add to the guide as the season progresses, which won’t be available to anyone else.
Fix strives to invent new FPL tools, and the guide can look forward to some exclusive innovations which won’t be available on the main site.

        • Thanks Kop, good man yourself. I assume that means that game-week live and the price change will remain as is.

        • I’d reckon so NIN

  5. Guys can I ask about this Ultimate FPL? Is it worth doing I didn’t do it last year and I’m not too sure about doing that aswell as my regular team.

    • Hi Matt, I gave a detailed answer about this to someone the other day as I played it last season. Good luck finding that though! In short – it was ok but I’m not bothering again. Probably tells you all you need to know!

      • Ye that does tell me everything. I didn’t think it would be worthwhile Cheers Init.

    • MattX,

I played it two years ago, and would play still but I can’t as i’ve moved abroad.

I loved the bigger squad and the gambler in me loved all the swapping in and out of players – Do i stick with a guy from Saturday on 5 points or swap him out for a Sunday player who could score big. – Great fun.

The downside though is that because it’s gamedays and not gameweeks, it’s easy to miss a deadline and miss out of big points.

It became as much a challenge of time management as it was fantasy football skill.

If you have the time / commitment, then i saw go for it.

  6. Evening all hey MattX you still about you have mail

    • Just got you back mate.

      • Hey MattX got back Sun great wknd lots of catching up to do

        • That’s great. Get any winners at Cartmel? Yeah few preseason games with some good performances by some new boys.

    • Well done for logging in on your e-mail account?! 😉

      • Hey Init if I told you I have recked my IPhone you probably won’t be surprised so it’s a pain getting on my emails , got phone water logged doesn’t work now have to wait to upgrade in Sept new IPhone 7 wonder how lg that will take to reck 😉

    • Yes had 5 winners biggest was Dystanias Reevenge I thk 18-1 really good win & great day .

      • Ohh that’s a great price. I’m pretty sure I seen that name up on Sky sports over the weekend and was think of backing but opted out last min.
