Fantasy Premier League 2015-16 Pre-Season Round up

Hello. Happy Summer everyone and welcome to your Pre-Season Article. The article is intended as a ‘work-in-progress’ and a workspace where we can keep each other up to date with all the latest line-up and substitution news for all twenty of this season’s Premier League teams ahead of our final selection of our fantasy squads.

We should also record the scoreline particulars including the all-important scorers, assisters and ‘nearly men’. Any salient information such as a defender on penalty kicks duties, a midfielder playing striker or Asmir Begovic playing some part in a Chelsea match to let him think he has a chance of playing this season, can be found here.

Of course, if you are lucky enough to witness any of the action, your opinion is valued too so let us know who impresses and doesn’t impress during these games.

Now you may have noticed the cunning use of “your”, “we”, and “each other” above. This is not a one-man band, because I’m useless musically and I’m not on at all hours (as much as I would like to be), so please do get involved – get the line-ups ‘up’ and the opinions flowing.

Alright, draft 2. Much different that the 1st one I had. Thoughts?

I like Fonte in there. Scored and also hit the crossbar today so he could be a great pick again this season. Why Terry over Ivanovic? Just curious on that one, may be the right decision though. Other three defenders should play most weeks I’d think.

Front seven are very strong but can you afford Cabaye rather than Puncheon? Cabaye should be on most set plays and then a great pick at 6.5M.

I’d have a strategy to get Silva, Sterling or Aguero in for week three. Having at least one will be crucial I think.

      • Yeah City cover almost certainly will become essential. One would think that Yaya will play better and Sterling is certainly not hurting their offensive firepower. City has outscored Chelsea by 41 goals, Arsenal by 46 and United by 59 in the last two seasons, yet most (myself included) always seem to not worry about getting one of them in before the players on those other teams.

Mito, I agree 100%. I have a fantasy philosophy for most games that the big hitters from the big teams should be the core no matter what. Now for some reason I always apply and stick to that in stuff like the U21’s and MLS and it works a treat but when FPL rolls around I get caught up in the periphery too much. I’ll be majoring on the core this season and City will be a big part of that. Probably to the tune of three.

        • MayAr says:

Yaya is much more attractive now since he does not cost 11mil.

      • MayAr says:

The only reason I picked Terry over ivan was latte gets more yellow/red cards.

I want to get Cabaye but will have to downgrade somewhere else to get the extra 0.5. City players will need to fit in somehow, can’t go 5 games without that cover haha Thanks!

I mentioned this before, but I think it is a point worth making again in case someone has not seen it. I am in the Azpi camp over Iva, so as long as Filipe Luis is transferred out. Having looked back at their last 3 seasons, I can say that Azpi compares very favourably when he plays. In the 3 seasons that Azpi has been about he would have trailed Iva by 10 points 3 seasons ago, by 9 points 2 seasons ago and would have beat Iva by 2 points last season if he had been given equal minutes. Obviously minutes are a concern, that is why I added the caveat of Filipe Luis. It is tough building a team we are happy with and money is tight everywhere, so anywhere that we can get similar production for less money we should certainly consider it. I think this could be the case here if Luis leaves. So Iva owners, if money is tight and you don’t know where to squeeze an extra mil out, this would not be a terrible place to downgrade.

      tique says:

You need arsenal coverage. They’re playing so well in preseason and look like they’re gonna start the season strong. Schweini isnt fpl material. Your sub defence wont start any games probably. If you have aguero, then get rid of yaya and put walcott/ozil/ramsey/cazorla. attack looks strong

I know he’s too expensive but cresswell is the new baines, there i said it! and hopefully i will stick to it. Downing leaving may mean he will be on more set pieces and corners. also payet was too good not to pick from todays performance. Cazorla too… I also have 2m in the bank for when Aguero decides to start playing :/. RMT PLEASE!
