Fantasy Premier League 2015-16 Pre-Season Round up

Hello. Happy Summer everyone and welcome to your Pre-Season Article. The article is intended as a ‘work-in-progress’ and a workspace where we can keep each other up to date with all the latest line-up and substitution news for all twenty of this season’s Premier League teams ahead of our final selection of our fantasy squads.
We should also record the scoreline particulars including the all-important scorers, assisters and ‘nearly men’. Any salient information such as a defender on penalty kicks duties, a midfielder playing striker or Asmir Begovic playing some part in a Chelsea match to let him think he has a chance of playing this season, can be found here.
Of course, if you are lucky enough to witness any of the action, your opinion is valued too so let us know who impresses and doesn’t impress during these games.
Now you may have noticed the cunning use of “your”, “we”, and “each other” above. This is not a one-man band, because I’m useless musically and I’m not on at all hours (as much as I would like to be), so please do get involved – get the line-ups ‘up’ and the opinions flowing.

Alright, draft 2. Much different that the 1st one I had. Thoughts?
MayAr
I like Fonte in there. Scored and also hit the crossbar today so he could be a great pick again this season. Why Terry over Ivanovic? Just curious on that one, may be the right decision though. Other three defenders should play most weeks I’d think.
Front seven are very strong but can you afford Cabaye rather than Puncheon? Cabaye should be on most set plays and then a great pick at 6.5M.
I’d have a strategy to get Silva, Sterling or Aguero in for week three. Having at least one will be crucial I think.
Yeah City cover almost certainly will become essential. One would think that Yaya will play better and Sterling is certainly not hurting their offensive firepower. City has outscored Chelsea by 41 goals, Arsenal by 46 and United by 59 in the last two seasons, yet most (myself included) always seem to not worry about getting one of them in before the players on those other teams.
Mito, I agree 100%. I have a fantasy philosophy for most games that the big hitters from the big teams should be the core no matter what. Now for some reason I always apply and stick to that in stuff like the U21’s and MLS and it works a treat but when FPL rolls around I get caught up in the periphery too much. I’ll be majoring on the core this season and City will be a big part of that. Probably to the tune of three.
Yaya is much more attractive now since he does not cost 11mil.
The only reason I picked Terry over ivan was latte gets more yellow/red cards.
I want to get Cabaye but will have to downgrade somewhere else to get the extra 0.5. City players will need to fit in somehow, can’t go 5 games without that cover haha Thanks!
I mentioned this before, but I think it is a point worth making again in case someone has not seen it. I am in the Azpi camp over Iva, so as long as Filipe Luis is transferred out. Having looked back at their last 3 seasons, I can say that Azpi compares very favourably when he plays. In the 3 seasons that Azpi has been about he would have trailed Iva by 10 points 3 seasons ago, by 9 points 2 seasons ago and would have beat Iva by 2 points last season if he had been given equal minutes. Obviously minutes are a concern, that is why I added the caveat of Filipe Luis. It is tough building a team we are happy with and money is tight everywhere, so anywhere that we can get similar production for less money we should certainly consider it. I think this could be the case here if Luis leaves. So Iva owners, if money is tight and you don’t know where to squeeze an extra mil out, this would not be a terrible place to downgrade.
Mito
He’s in my draft. I’m sure the Luis deal is going through.
I love the points potential for Azpi.
I have 3 in so far, haven’t actually built a team, but I think Azpi, Theo and Cedric are in. Assuming that the conditions for Theo and Azpi are right.
Yeah, would have had him last season but for Luis coming but then he hardly got a look in anyway. Was quite the surprise.
I’ll probably go for Courtois as my Chelsea defensive cover. Azpi would certainly be my choice otherwise, even if Luis stays.
Courtois would also be my favorite for the Chelski defensive coverage, no more Cech will be an added bonus as he’ll be rotation free so you should be able to back him up with a 4.0. I can’t see Terry playing as many games as he did last season either, I think we’ll start to see him in cotton wool from now on.
Nice work GP, cheers for this mate
No worries NiN
Hope it’s useful having everything in the one place.
Thoughts on this draft.
You need arsenal coverage. They’re playing so well in preseason and look like they’re gonna start the season strong. Schweini isnt fpl material. Your sub defence wont start any games probably. If you have aguero, then get rid of yaya and put walcott/ozil/ramsey/cazorla. attack looks strong
I know he’s too expensive but cresswell is the new baines, there i said it! and hopefully i will stick to it. Downing leaving may mean he will be on more set pieces and corners. also payet was too good not to pick from todays performance. Cazorla too… I also have 2m in the bank for when Aguero decides to start playing :/. RMT PLEASE!
Sound squad Tique, no Citeh though.
Tique
I agree that Cresswell has lots of potential but at 5.5 and with West Ham’s run of games, I think that is a stretch too far to start with. Even Jenkinson at 5.0 is a bit much considering. This could change.
Really like the defence and strike force.
Nice effort. But in truth I’d personally downgrade Cresswell to a 4.5 and get Ki up to Cabaye mate.
Great work Gallant mate, gonna be great watching this all get filled in. Hopefully be able to help with one of them…
CC
One? Where would I be without you? 😉
How are you mate? Are you looking forward to the new season? Expecting big things from you!
Yes one! But from the stands if all goes well so it should be in decent detail.
Good thanks, can’t wait! Hopefully have something for you all this week.
How’s your team coming along?
Cool. Which match are you going to?
My latest draft, what’s your impressions?
Thanks.
United vs Barca. Just need to find a legit ticket hawker (strike hawker, replace with scum of the earth).
Solid first team, be interesting to see Tekkers at Liverpool. Confess I don’t know most of your bench yet, and won’t make any suggestions as I don’t know any prices or fixtures yet either! Will throw something together soon.
Wow that will be some match. Hoping all goes well pal and you make it in.
Benteke will be Kane if the Liverpool move doesn’t go through. Losing all hope in Villa just now.
Cheers CC.
Looking forward to seeing your team soon.
Gp. Like the team mate. Few things I’d look at;
ruddy rotates well with butland.
Do you want two midfielders that are new to the teams and may take time to settle in? (Also palaces fixtures are horrid at the start!)
I assume you will have all 3 defenders starting most weeks (I class a 5mil plus defender as a regular starter) so downgrade some of your others or downgrade one of them to free up cash?
Forward line is same as mine although I may go for Wilson over deaney as they are a coin toss and Bournemouth have better fixtures.
Feel free to discard this mate, just my thoughts.
Ps GP, thanks a ton for putting this together. Bloody helpful!
NZ
Thanks for your comments.
Butland was in but came out when Muniesa went in.
I don’t see Cabaye as a risk, Payet a bit yeah but I’m willing to go on that one.
My back up defenders are both 4.5M so can’t get cheaper.
Ta pal.
