Fantasy Premier League 2016-17 Pre-Season Round up

Fantasy Premier League 2016-17 Pre-Season Round up

Hellllllooooooooo FPL’ers! We’re back. It is that time of the year again when we begin to look ahead to how our 20 Premier League teams are preparing for this the most potentially cash-laden, superstar-fuelled, world class manager-jewelled season in history.

FPL will again afford us the chance to back our favourite players (which is of course price-dependent – but that’s for another article) but we need to know that they will be playing in a position worth having them, that they are in form, and more exciting perhaps, where the next bargain of the ‘Alli, Mahrez, Payet, Vardy’ ilk are to be found.

And so to assist us along the way this article is intended as a pre-season scrap book where we intend to record all teams pre-season fixtures and will include where possible all salient information as to who is scoring, who is assisting and who is looking hot and who isn’t.

I will do my best to get all information posted as swiftly as possible but it will all eventually appear here. I would appeal to you to follow my example and in the format of previous seasons assist me by including team news with substitutions, team formation information, goal scoring and assisting records and any other information FPL-relevant.

The main new addition here is that this article is linked in with the HOT COMMENTS section that appears above the Latest Comments. Basically we have created a comment link for each team. Simply scroll to the Hot Comments for the team you require info on and it’ll take you to their section and we will have all their pre-season info in one place courtesy of our fantastic community members.

The purpose of this is so that –

1. There is a specific place to post relevant pre-season info for each team –
Please post any findings – line-ups, signings, team news, match reports, etc…

2. It’s easy to find all the info.
Need to know the pre-season line-ups for Arsenal? Easy, just click on their link in Hot Comments and you will come to their hub.

    Hello All,
This is my first time posting and my first time taking advice on my FPL team. After doing crap during the last two seasons i have realised that I am crap at this. So I ask for some guidance and thoughts on my first draft for my team.

Look forward to the help and the abuse.

    Cheers,
    Rick

Welcome to the site mate. We’ll try improve your rank haha smile a few thoughts on your team is your defence really I would skip Sunderland since Big Sam is set to be announced as England manager tomorrow also I would wait to see how Palace are defensively with their new keeper in preseason first.

      • Ricki1991 says:

Thank you for the quick reply. Didn’t even think about big Sam!! I’ll have a look at other options! My thoughts on van aanholt are that he was excellent going forward.

        • MattX says:

He is but ultimately he’s a defender so if Sunderland become an absolute joke at the back he won’t get many points because sadly he won’t get a goal or assist every game.

        • inittowinit says:

Talk of Moyes being the obvious replacement and if that’s the case then it’s as you were with Sunderland really. He’ll build from the back. PVA is always worth a look regardless really.

        • MattX says:

I didn’t hear anything about replacements but Moyes at Sunderland could be decent.

Hi Ricki, a warm welcome to the site. I like your mids and forwards there, well balanced. I’d prefer someone other than Fletcher as back up but let’s see who emerges from pre-season as a cheap pick and on set-pieces. Your keeper combo worries me! Watford have just about the toughest first 5 games going and even Hull have Leicester, Arsenal and Man Utd I think it is in the first 5. I’d defo look at swapping those. Use the link below for rotation pairs but also look at the first 6 tracker above it when doing so. I’ve not checked your defenders rotation so do the same with those and alter accordingly within your budget. If it’s cheap end I’d be looking for at least 3 plus a keeper who play at home each week as a bare minimum even if the odd one has a tough fixture within that.

@SlickRick, Can’t see Paredes starting mate. They seem to have signed Djedje and he should be able to grab the job from Paredes or Nyom. So unless he comes in at the same price (he won’t), I would look to replace him. Of course you are probably just using him as a 4.0 throwaway I assume, so it may not matter. Williams has two nice fixtures to start and then it is dreadful, so that could be a player to look at, unless you are comfortable with keeping him through the rough patch or using up a transfer early. Solid team though to start off with. Long and Gray together is hard to stomach, as it feels like you are taking a double punt on forwards, but considering the budget and the prices it is understandable.

Ohhhh and Welcome to the site, we are happy to have you.

Hi Mito thanks for the reply,

Glad to be here, but I will not be dropping my guard thanks to cookie! You are correct that paredes is just a throwaway. However my plan is to use my wildcard after the 4th match day so the playwrs I have in I believe have the best run in. I have taken on board what you kind people have said in the forum and made changes to my defence and Gk. I’m sure my team will change again before the season starts though
