Favourable fixtures make Liverpool stars ‘must-have’ FPL acquisitions

Liverpool face West Ham United (H), Wolverhampton Wanderers (A) and Tottenham Hotspur (H) in their next three games and will fancy their chances of collecting nine points.

Defender Virgil van Dijk’s price has risen to £6 million on the back of some strong performances, and he should be high on your list of potential acquisitions.

Around one-quarter of all FPL managers own Van Dijk, and his recent contribution make him a ‘must-have’ defensive options over the next few weeks.

Florian Wirtz is another player worth considering if he is not already in your team, particularly now manager Arne Slot has indicated his back issue is not serious.

By contrast, Mohamed Salah (£14.0m) makes limited appeal after failing to get on the scoresheet in nine consecutive Premier League matches.

Dominik Szoboszlai (£6.8m) remains a strong midfield option, although it is worth waiting to discover if Jeremie Frimpong (£5.7m) is ready to return at right-back against West Ham this weekend.

Fernandez’s price drop highlights on-pitch struggles

Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez’s price has fallen to £6.8m despite accumulating 149 points this season. He has tallied just two points in each of his last three fixtures.

Given that Chelsea have played Wolves, Leeds United and Burnley during that period, FPL managers have every right to feel aggrieved at Fernandez’s lack of output.

Upcoming fixtures against Arsenal (A), Aston Vila (A) and Newcastle United (H) highlight why now may be a good time to ditch the Argentinian international.

Difficult decisions may also need to be made on Cole Palmer (£10.6m) and Joao Pedro, who enjoyed contrasting fortunes in the 1-1 draw with Burnley.

Pedro has been largely consistent over the past few weeks, but is generally a risky proposition in FPL when Chelsea face better teams.

Palmer has been hit-and-miss during the same timeframe, and the difficulty of the upcoming run of games make this a good time to look elsewhere for FPL points.

Maximising your remaining FPL chips

If you are fortunate enough to still have your FPL chips intact, it would be prudent to start formulating a plan for using them.

Using the Wildcard to set up a Bench-Boost for either Gameweeks 33 or 36 will likely prove to be a shrewd move if you target the right players.

The Triple Captain chip is best saved for using on a premium player during a Double Gameweek, to maximise your chances of picking up a sizeable points tally.

Manchester City still have a fixture against Crystal Palace to be rescheduled, which makes Erling Braut Haaland an enticing option when that game is staged.

The Free Hit chip is ideal for solving problems when teams have a Blank Gameweek. That status applies to League Cup finalists Arsenal and Man City in Gameweek 31.

The chip could be used in a Double Gameweek, enabling you to select 11 players who play twice without having to worry about their long-term value.
