Fantasy Premier League Captain Picks Gameweek 10
Welcome to Fantasy Premier League Captain Picks Gameweek 10. Considering the fact that we are already 9 weeks into the season now is probably the time when we start to take our captain picks even more serious than before! Those of us who have struggled throughout the opening game-weeks are sticking to the excuse that to date we haven’t taken things seriously. How difficult it is to get our capo right? Let’s just take a quick look at the highest three scorers in each of the past 3 game-weeks.
GW9
– Shaqiri 15pts
– Cahill 14pts
– Reid 14pts
GW8
– Stanislas 21pts
– Allen 16pts
– Holebas 15pts
GW7
– Koscielny 15pts
– Firmino 12pts
– Costa 12pts
So as you can see it’s not that easy to forecast who’ll be the highest scorer every week. But at the end of the day you don’t need to have the game-weeks highest scorer as your capo you just need to have someone pick up a goal or an assist, or for those of you insane enough to go with a defender, a clean sheet. With all the clean sheets that were about last week perhaps those who went with a defender weren’t that insane…
Anyway let’s take a look at those players who you ‘might’ want to give the armband to this week.
1. The Arsenal midfield (away vs Sunderland)
[three_fifth padding=”0 20px 0 0″]
[/three_fifth]Messrs Walcott, Ozil & Sanchez have been in devastating form of late. In fact such is the form of Walcott & Ozil that Sanchez has been somewhat left in the shade these past three game-weeks. Last weekend both Sanchez & Walcott proved to be popular captain choices, and what happened? Oh yeah, the Middlesbrough defence somehow held the Arsenal to a scoreless draw. Let’s just hope their Northern brothers don’t do likewise this week. The stats over the last three games suggest Walcott is the man to captain this week and he’s backed those stats up with a goal and two assists. If stats don’t interest you and you want to go with someone who has the potential to get that really big score then Alexis is the man for you. If you want to captain a differential then Ozil is the one as he currently features in just 8.7% of teams. What happened the last time Arsenal went up to Sunderland? 0-0! The fact that it’s the early game on Saturday is likely to put some of you off the Gunners but you’ll regret it when they run riot at Moyesies expense.
2. Zlatan Ibrahimovic (home vs Burnley)
[three_fifth padding=”0 20px 0 0″]
[/three_fifth]Why Zlatan? Well why not? He is after all the greatest footballer on the planet. At least that’s what he would like you to believe and after he scored four goals in his opening four games the United fans amongst us were quickly becoming believers. You’re not in France anymore Zlats. The last time Burnley visited Old Trafford United won 3-1, this was of course back in the good old days of LvG. Having been butchered by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last Sunday United will be hoping for an easier ride on Saturday afternoon and there is in fact some reason for optimism. Burnley have lost three from three on their travels this season conceding 9 times in the process. Given his current form giving Zlatan the armband is undoubtedly a gamble but if he’s going to reignite his season it could very well start on Saturday.
3. Roberto Firmino (away vs Palace)
[three_fifth padding=”0 20px 0 0″]
[/three_fifth]Aside from the visit of the Manchester United bus in GW8 Liverpool have been scoring rather freely of late and this sees them top of the scoring charts along with Manchester City on 20 goals. You would think that this would lead to an obvious candidate for the armband? Unfortunately it’s not that easy as the goals continue to be shared out amongst the midfield. You could easily make a case for Coutinho or Mane, but this week we’ll make the case for Firmino. With it becoming more & more apparent that Daniel Sturridge does not fit into the new Liverpool style (in the league, anyway) Firmino is likely to continue to take up the most advanced position in the Liverpool attack. It’s just a pity he’s not a natural goal scorer because if he was he’d be an automatic choice for the armband every week. He’s already scored three times this season but anyone who’s watched Liverpool will tell you it could easily be double that. However the fact that he’s getting in position is a good sign and this is why we’ve opted for him this week. When Liverpool last visited Selhurst Park Firmino got himself on the scoresheet. Let’s hope he can do so again on Saturday evening.
4. Etienne Capoue and Troy Deeney (home vs Hull)
[three_fifth padding=”0 20px 0 0″]
[/three_fifth]Having conceded 22 goals in their opening nine games Hull have the league’s worst defensive record. Oh and they’ve conceded 11 of those in their last two away games. So it should come as no surprise to see both Capoue and Deeney included this week. With four goals and an assist in his opening five games Capoue started the season like a house on fire, unfortunately he’s failed to produce any attacking returns in his last four games. It’s lucky for him and his owners that he’s playing Hull this week. Deeney’s season hasn’t caught fire yet but he has shown the odd spark here & there. His recent stats are actually better than Capoue’s and for those of you looking to take advantage of Hull we’d opt for Deeney over Capoue.
5. Sergio Aguero (away vs West Brom)
[three_fifth padding=”0 20px 0 0″]
[/three_fifth]After contributing 0 points over the past 3 game-weeks (yes you read that right, a golden duck!) Aguero is going through a patch which is quite rare by his standards in the league. Sticking with him or shipping him out is something many managers might be contemplating at this very moment. Despite this no captaincy article is complete with the inclusion of the Argentinian powerhouse. Facing a side managed by Tony Pulis is never easy and this will of course be the case on Saturday afternoon. It’s interesting to note that City have scored three goals on each of their last three visits to The Hawthorns, although Aguero has only scored one of the nine. Special mention to David Silva who has scored on each of his two previous visits to The Hawthorns so perhaps he’s the better pick!! My opinion would be to captain him only if you don’t have any of the other players mentioned above.
Good luck for the GW and thanks for reading.
Thanks for reading Fantasy Premier League Captain Picks Gameweek 10. This article was written by Jeet
Fixture Tracker – the next 6 games
Seems one of my direct rivals has fucked up. He did 11 transfers and has already played hiw wildcard.
By the way, congrats Jeet.
Don’t agree with you on Ibra. Dude is 35, he was the worlds greatest striker. Probably too much value in him FPL wise, but I still want him because he’s the coolest. FUck the rest. 😉
Awesome stuff, Jeet!
I’ve gone for it, or am totally insane, and have sold Aguero. Besides that move, anything I can do to this bunch to improve?
Good luck I guess! You’ll need to monitor Rashford now as he limped off a bit there. You could always buy Kun to replace him if it’s serious
Many thanks Jeet, nice debut article. I will be capping Walcott, Coutinho, Zlatan, or Aguero. As you can see I haven’t really made up my mind :fish-bowl:
I see fucking Zlatan is playing for United. This is not good.
I see JRody is injured again, for Soton. Plus they are playing a B-team, sort of, versus Sunderland A-Team.
Too bad their fixtures are so hard, or else, Redmond/AUstin would be very interesting.
Ps. what is up with the mass shipping out Kun? Are they crazy or what? Kun is fixture proof and once he’s starts going again… aah well… nevermind.
Probably rage drops as most probably had him (c) over the last two GW’s
Seriously, 0 shots on target for City. Ibra playing the entire game doesn’t fall good with me, that plus a yellow. He’s on 2 or 3 now.
4
Precipice. Stupid booking as well. On his part.
Maybe the second half? Haha. I just watched the ending of the game and it said United 2 shots and City 0. Second half?
Whole game Raz – City didn’t have a shot on target.
Cookie meant bookings I believe. As for shots it was 0 on target and 3 off I think.
4 bookings though?! Welcome to confused stats central convo of the year
No he only got booked once tonight
I have always felt Pep was overrated, but it’s impossible to say this without people calling you crazy. He just had the best teams with the best material to deal with, and with City again he has the best material of the EPL. I wonder how he would do at a team like Everton, I’d like to see it. But no, he’ll just take over champion teams. The Barca he took over was probably the best team setup in years and same for Bayern, superb team back then. One or 2 buys and perfect.
Probably wouldn’t have done much better than Koeman has in all honesty Raz. His philosophy is great but you have to have the best of the best to make it work. That’s why Sir Alex was the greatest – he adapted according to what he had. He won the league with all sorts of different teams of different styles and with varying abilities. Some of his Championship winning teams were clearly not the best teams in the league that season, yet he made it work and won.
Before LvG came to United, he always had a decent record. He did well with the teams the first few seasons. After a few he would be spitted out, would be in a row the media, the players, the Argentines and whatnot. HAHA! What he did at Ajax, Barca, and Bayern was great. He always spoke about his philosphy, attractive, attacking footblall, 4-3-3, the Ajax 71-73 CL reign and the 1995 CL winners. However, he stepped away from that when he had success with the NEtherlands with a really freaking mediocre team he made 3rd spot at the Worldcup. After that, no more philosphy, bs talk. He always was a bit mental but at least he had vision. Sadly we’ve seen nothing of it at United or England. Koeman is sort of from the same school, as is Pep. Both have actually learned from LvG. Worst thing about LvG is the players he buys, never ever give him the right to buy players, hahaha! NEVER! On that note, he was the one that scouted vdSar, whom was written off and playing for some type of amateur club.
I like the managers that are in the EPL, but some are only as good as their material. By the way, you reckon Zlatan starts Saturday? I fear the worse.
Yeah Zlatan will start. Mourinho really needs the points too much
Yeah, I agree with what you’re saying Raz.
I’m not sure he had “the best teams with the best material” though. What he had was Lionel Messi which really is the reason why Barça dominated football in those years. Not taking value from Pep here – he’s of course a top coach -, just saying that he never replicated that kind of football at bayern nor is he trying to do so at City. Sure he wants high tempo and possession but he knows that’s not enough in England. But he is no Alex Ferguson or even Mou, in a way, in what regards winning with different styles and adapting to the players. It’s always the other way around and who doesn’t adapt to him will play somewhere else. And that kind of attitude worked well at barça and bayern, in a way, because they have a high team spirit, but it won’t work everywhere, especially at a team full of stars and stars-wanabees. We’ll see how this ends but the kun saga may hamper his ambitions I’d say. I mean Kun actually tries to adapt, but he’s a striker FFS, not a winger or a n.º 10 as we saw him tonight at times. Dunno where this is going but the signs are not great, at least FPL wise which is of course what matters!
Hey guys,Any suggestions for this team.Have 1 ft and 0.4m itb
Grant Jakupovic
Amat Williams Holebas Stones Walker
Sanchez Walcott Coutinho Antonio Hojberg
Lukaku Austin Aguero
Decent team there. I’d save the transfer as you will need a goalkeeper pretty imminently
