Fantasy Premier League Captain Picks Gameweek 32
Welcome to Fantasy Premier League Captain Picks Gameweek 32. After an international break, the FA decided to give us three GWs over nine days – there is non-stop action going on here folks as the next round kicks off at Saturday noon when Spurs welcome Watford to White Hart Lane. All the big teams face weaker opposition this round, meaning that there are several players to consider for the armband. Manchester City, Everton, and Tottenham all play at home, while Chelsea have to take the trip to Bournemouth, and Arsenal face Palace in a London derby. Manchester United face Sunderland, but their recent shyness in front of goal and lack of fantasy options exclude any United players from being among the options in this article. I assume most Zlatan owners are ghost teams, but if any of you have brought him in, he at least deserves to be considered for the armband, given his opposition. The rest of the standout captain candidates for this GW are mentioned below, so let us take a look at which players to consider captaining this game-week, shall we?
Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli (home vs Watford)
[three_fifth padding=”0 20px 0 0″]
[/three_fifth]
It looked like the Tottenham boys were going to blank Wednesday night against Swansea, before a late comeback saw both Eriksen and Alli reward their owners with a goal and an assist apiece. Alli has been the form player recently, gathering four goals and three assist in his last five matches, while Eriksen has gotten two goals and four assists in the same run of fixtures. Tottenham have won five Premier League matches in a row, and with their opponents being Watford at White Hart Lane at the weekend, there is no reason to believe that they will not win this match as well. Watford may have won their last two matches, but they were at home against Sunderland and West Bromwich. A quick look through Watford’s results this season shows that they have consistently struggled against teams better than them – for instance, Tottenham won 4-1 in the reverse fixture earlier this season. Tottenham are clear favourites to win this match comfortably, and whichever attacking Tottenham player you have should be considered a captain candidate that is not only likely to produce a good score but could even provide an explosive score if Tottenham decide to run riot.
Sergio Aguero (home vs Hull)
[three_fifth padding=”0 20px 0 0″]
[/three_fifth]Both City and Aguero have been a bit of a mixed bag recently. After winning four matches in a row, City have three draws and one loss in their recent matches. Excluding Stoke, these matches were against Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea, so City and Aguero will be glad to see that Hull are coming to the Etihad next. While Aguero has failed to deliver double digit points since GW13, he has four goals and one assist in his last six matches, showing consistency rather than explosiveness. Hull may have improved under Marco Silva, winning three of their last four home matches, but their last three away games have resulted in three losses and nine goals conceded. In fact, Hull have not kept a clean sheet in seven matches, relying on outscoring their opponents rather than keeping it tight at the back. As such, this may be the match where Aguero runs riot again. He has consistently improved since being dropped for Gabriel Jesus, and if City play the way we know they can play, Aguero could be an excellent captain choice.
Eden Hazard, Diego Costa (away vs Bournemouth)
[three_fifth padding=”0 20px 0 0″]
[/three_fifth]While still being top of the league, Chelsea have ‘only’ won three of their last five matches, with a loss to Crystal Palace and a draw against Burnley. They may face a tougher opponent than we expect when they travel to face Bournemouth, as Bournemouth have not lost in five matches, earning two wins and three draws in the process. If we look at Chelsea’s recent matches, we can see that they have been tight: three 2-1 victories, one 1-2 loss, then two 3-1 victories and two 1-1 draws before that. In other words, Chelsea have managed to ground out victories, despite dominating their opponents less than previously. As such, they must be considered favorites for this match as well. Their standout players, Costa and Hazard, are the two captain candidates from this team. Costa has blanked in his last three matches, but managed three goals and one assist in the five preceding matches. We all know Costa’s quality, but recent form suggests that Hazard is the better option, as he has failed to score or assist in only three of his last twelve matches. Additionally, he has three double digit returns in his last six matches, scoring four goals, two assists, and nine bonus points, which shows that he is as explosive as he is consistent. In two of the matches he got three bonus points, he only scored one goal and was substituted yet still managed to get all three bonus points, proving how influential he is while on the pitch. While Bournemouth may present a challenge to Chelsea, the Blues must still be considered favourites. Expect Chelsea to grind out another victory here, with Hazard and Costa leading the line, making them both prime candidates for your armband.
Phillipe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, Divock Origi (away vs Stoke)
[three_fifth padding=”0 20px 0 0″]
[/three_fifth]With both Lallana and Mane injured, many raised questions as to how these injuries would affect Liverpool’s attacking play, but it was defensively Liverpool struggled as they played 2-2 at home against Bournemouth Wednesday night. Origi and Coutinho both scored a goal, with Firmino providing an assist. While I am highlighting three players from Liverpool, they have all produced well recently. Coutinho has two goals and one assist in his last two matches, Origi has two goals and two assists in Liverpool’s last five matches despite only starting two of them, and Firmino has one goal and five assists in his last six. Stoke have gone four matches without a win, and they have consistently played poorly against better teams, losing 1-4 at Anfield earlier this season. Liverpool are on better form, with three wins and two draws recently. While the trip to Britannia may scare some fantasy managers away from Liverpool players, Liverpool are the favorites to win against a team that underperforms against better opposition, and Coutinho, Firmino, and Origi are all likely to be among Liverpool’s goals, and they are also likely to be overlooked by many as captain candidates for this round.
Romelu Lukaku (home vs Leicester)
[three_fifth padding=”0 20px 0 0″]
[/three_fifth]Despite blanking against Liverpool and Manchester United, Lukaku had great form before these matches, as he had five goals and two assists in the four preceding matches. Lukaku has grown from being the unreliable fantasy player we all had come to love and hate to being a consistent performer, putting him top of the top scorer chart with twenty-one goals this season. Everton’s recent performances have been as expected: they won comfortably at home against Sunderland, Hull, and West Bromwich, scoring nine goals and conceding none in the process, while they lost away against Tottenham and Liverpool and earned a draw at Old Trafford. Everton’s opponents, Leicester, have won all five matches since Ranieri’s sacking, but it is noteworthy that four of these matches were at home and that Liverpool was the only team in the top half of the table they faced. In other words, Everton away will be Shakespeare’s biggest test so far, and with Everton’s remarkable home form, Everton must surely be considered the favourites here. Lukaku has double digit returns in three of Everton’s last four home matches, making Lukaku a reliable and explosive captain candidate.

Fixture Tracker
The Tracker in full…
DGW34 IS ON THERE AS CONFIRMED BUT DGW37 IS VERY MUCH PROVISIONAL!
That’s our best guess as to how it will pan out and there is still Southampton vs Arsenal to be rearranged. That looks likely to be in GW35 or 36. The FPL site itself has said that they expect the remaining games to be confirmed on or around the 7th April.
Teams with DGW’s ahead… (with thanks to Rosco)
Evening gents! Nice little midweek gw. Got to the heights of 62(-4) and closed a ML gap of 60 to 6 in three weeks!
Want Kun, don’t we all, but that means either Vardy or Lukaku out or a -8, which I’ll obviously stay away from. If no Kun than I would change my attentions to the dgw34 and in that regard does Diomande->Tekkers + AOA make sense? Cheers
Nice progress DMC! Tekkers is intersting me too, and if it’s a logical time to use up the AOA chip too then that could work. I’d be a little reluctant to lose Lukaku or Vardy just yet.
Cheers banjo! It does make sense I think, also because I want Sanchez back in soon and when that happens I’ll need one of the top 8 to be an enabler so if I do that move in two weeks this the one (the only one since the season started) that I would have a strong top 8 (or one without one bench fodder). I could leave the AOA for the last round after the WC/BB combo but I have no idea yet who’ll in my team and / or if they’ll have a good fixture for that one.
So the plan would be
GW32 Dio -> Tekkers + AOA
GW33 -> Siggy/Sterlo -> Sanchez/bench fodder (-4)
That leaves me 0.2 short from for Ibra in 34 but I would deal with that in 34 itself!
Plan?
Sounds like a very solid plan to me! I wouldn’t go crazy for Ibra GW34 anyway, he’s got to be a high risk for rotation. I assume Hazard will be your cappo this week?
Not sure on the capo front yet tbh. Reckon it’s between him and Alli.
I did forgot to load the team didn’t I?
Evening. Just catching up on the comments from today and have a question given a theme I’ve seen – did I miss Siggy dying or something?! Seriously, why’s everyone seem to be selling him?!
West Ham have the 2nd worst goals against in the league at home with 27. The man himself is joint top 10th for overall FPL points, joint first for assists and has 8 goals. From the last 2 Swansea games he’s played that I’ve seen he’s pretty much trying to be Superman and doing everything too.
And most seem to be to buy in Sane or a Sterling who both come with a massive Pep rotation warning.
Anyway, just asking. Sell him if you wish
Init
Great minds obviously because I noticed that too.
I’m holding. Too decent-looking a fixture I think to remove him.
Forgot to mention the next 3 games too. That was maybe when I saw it and assumed he followed this with like Chelsea and City or something but nope it’s Watford and Stoke!
Hey init, I don’t think it’s that everyone suddenly hates siggy or thinks he’ll suddenly start turning in 2 points from here on in! I just think there are a lot of really great midfield options performing and a lot of them have the doubles! I’m tempted but only because I think Erickson and Hazzard could be better options but who knows in this game!
Hey guys, how’s it going? I’ll be holding Siggy as well. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that his drop in points coincides with Llorente being out. Ben Dinnery’s reporting that Llorente is close, if he’s fit for the weekend then Siggy’s point potential looks really good.
I see what you mean init and this is that type of game where you ship him off and he scores a brace. The semi-exodus may be for what rosco mentioned – too many other strong options in Haz/Sanchez/Alli and then the Zaha’s of this life along with the ‘need’ to acomodate Vardy/Kun are pushing him away. That being said I’m not selling him this gw, but I would if it was a straight -4 to get Kun!
My plane is now taking off so I’ll pick this up later! Cheers
I was thinking exactly the same Innit !! My main rival has sold him so i’m hoping he bangs in a brace this weekend !!
Perfect. I’d encourage rivals to sell him for sure!
Init, like some of the other guys I feel exactly the same way! If we were going to sell him we should have done it before Spurs, but having kept him for that one we surely must play him for the next 3?!?! Against Spurs he played out on the left and had to track back to cover Walker’s forward runs. Spurs also had 85% possession. Red’s comment on Llorente is a great point as well. Enough said on that one I think. Everyone stop selling him!
I was in the sell Siggy camp but I think I have other priorities this week. WH away isn’t a bad fixture and as mentioned, if Llorente returned his returned should increase.
I accidentally activated my WC while testing out some potential transfers, so I have some players in and some out before their time was due. Siggy was an unfortunate casualty of this, but I wanted to keep him, and would recommend others to do so as well.
Snoddy and Vardy out for Alli and Origi for a hit? I desperately need Alli in my team.
Can you do a defender out instead of Vardy
Smash – It can’t be a defender. The money won’t be enough. If it’s for a defender then I would have to sacrifice Siggy instead of Snoddy but i want Snoddy out.
No love for Son instead? Looks like he’ll be playing up front and is far cheaper, but could score well over at lest the next couple of GW’s?
Although if it really HAS to be Alli then better to lose Vardy than your other strikers – his next 4 games are all away and the champions league QF’s might prove to be a minor distraction for him!
Red Robbo – I’m hearing Kane will soon be available so Son will be on the bench again.
Exactly the point on Vardy! Im fearing he will be rested and CL prioritized. 4 straight away games. I sound mad thinking about selling Vardy but Lukaku’s fixture is better and I want to play Aguero(C) vs Hull.
I see not even Alonso to Yoshida and Alli for Snoddy
Nope. Even if i downgrade Alonso to Yoshida it still won’t be sufficient.
Eagle
Sanchez to Walcott and Snodgrass to Alli?
I’d leave Vardy well alone just now.
GP – Never thought about Wally but i’m glad you pointed it out. I just brought in Sanchez GW31 and was for a hit! Those moves you suggested are viable.
Get those Spurs assets ready for the weekend gentlemen, sounds like Mazzarri may have to suit up himself to get 11 players on the pitch. Injuries everywhere, could be a goal-fest that one!
Yeah I was gutted that I could not do Firmino to Erikson
Red as you can see in my comment #30 above, I’m trying to find a way to fit in Alli into my team.
I think GP’s suggestion looks pretty sound, Eagle. Sanchez eats up a lot of money. He definitely could have grabbed a couple assists last match but I’m not sure he’s going to be as dangerous as he was earlier in the season playing up top. I’ll be going without him at least until the DGWs and/or my WC, and might not even get him then. It’s scary not owning him for sure, but he’s just not producing from out on the wing right now. I’d much rather have Alli.
I’m selling Siggy for Erik right now
Hahahah
Haha, good weekend to have them both I think! And Alli too if you can swing it!
All that paragraph on Siggy in vain
Evening all,
I’m having trouble deciding what to do with this lot. I’m tempted to do Costa to Ibra with my FT. Although Kun is tempting too. Also thinking of Siggy to Wally for a -4. Can anyone talk sense at me?
Niknak
Tough one.
I’ve gone Costa > Ibra purely due to playing Sunderland this Gwk & his 2 double gwks coming up.
I do luv Aguero and would normally always have him in my team..but,
His price is just too much to balance out my team, especially with so many in form Mids to choose from.
I’d hang on to Siggy one more week should score well vs WHM this wknd.
Cheers bigpopz. I might just do Ibra in tonight.
Evening gents
Amazing what a good Gwk does for your mood
Extra spring in my step going to work today after a surprising 67 score,
Green arrows and riding top of my ML just can’t wait for sat.
So feeling confident I’ve took a hit to bring in Sane for Mane & Ibra for Costa,
Am I set..?
Looking good Biggie! Like the moves, let’s hope the big man destroys the Mackems!
Well set Bigs – looks good
Cheers guys
Should I start Lorente over King.
Was thinking Lorente should be due back and could crush WHM ?
Yeah I would if we get a positive sign he plays.
Hey Bigpopz. I’d wait until the pressers to make a decision, hopefully we’ll know if Llorente is fit to start by then.
Great team there! You’re all set!
