Fantasy Premier League Captain Picks Gameweek 32
Welcome to Fantasy Premier League Captain Picks Gameweek 32. After an international break, the FA decided to give us three GWs over nine days – there is non-stop action going on here folks as the next round kicks off at Saturday noon when Spurs welcome Watford to White Hart Lane. All the big teams face weaker opposition this round, meaning that there are several players to consider for the armband. Manchester City, Everton, and Tottenham all play at home, while Chelsea have to take the trip to Bournemouth, and Arsenal face Palace in a London derby. Manchester United face Sunderland, but their recent shyness in front of goal and lack of fantasy options exclude any United players from being among the options in this article. I assume most Zlatan owners are ghost teams, but if any of you have brought him in, he at least deserves to be considered for the armband, given his opposition. The rest of the standout captain candidates for this GW are mentioned below, so let us take a look at which players to consider captaining this game-week, shall we?
Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli (home vs Watford)

[/three_fifth]
It looked like the Tottenham boys were going to blank Wednesday night against Swansea, before a late comeback saw both Eriksen and Alli reward their owners with a goal and an assist apiece. Alli has been the form player recently, gathering four goals and three assist in his last five matches, while Eriksen has gotten two goals and four assists in the same run of fixtures. Tottenham have won five Premier League matches in a row, and with their opponents being Watford at White Hart Lane at the weekend, there is no reason to believe that they will not win this match as well. Watford may have won their last two matches, but they were at home against Sunderland and West Bromwich. A quick look through Watford’s results this season shows that they have consistently struggled against teams better than them – for instance, Tottenham won 4-1 in the reverse fixture earlier this season. Tottenham are clear favourites to win this match comfortably, and whichever attacking Tottenham player you have should be considered a captain candidate that is not only likely to produce a good score but could even provide an explosive score if Tottenham decide to run riot.
Sergio Aguero (home vs Hull)
[three_fifth padding=”0 20px 0 0″]
[/three_fifth]Both City and Aguero have been a bit of a mixed bag recently. After winning four matches in a row, City have three draws and one loss in their recent matches. Excluding Stoke, these matches were against Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea, so City and Aguero will be glad to see that Hull are coming to the Etihad next. While Aguero has failed to deliver double digit points since GW13, he has four goals and one assist in his last six matches, showing consistency rather than explosiveness. Hull may have improved under Marco Silva, winning three of their last four home matches, but their last three away games have resulted in three losses and nine goals conceded. In fact, Hull have not kept a clean sheet in seven matches, relying on outscoring their opponents rather than keeping it tight at the back. As such, this may be the match where Aguero runs riot again. He has consistently improved since being dropped for Gabriel Jesus, and if City play the way we know they can play, Aguero could be an excellent captain choice.
Eden Hazard, Diego Costa (away vs Bournemouth)
[three_fifth padding=”0 20px 0 0″]
[/three_fifth]While still being top of the league, Chelsea have ‘only’ won three of their last five matches, with a loss to Crystal Palace and a draw against Burnley. They may face a tougher opponent than we expect when they travel to face Bournemouth, as Bournemouth have not lost in five matches, earning two wins and three draws in the process. If we look at Chelsea’s recent matches, we can see that they have been tight: three 2-1 victories, one 1-2 loss, then two 3-1 victories and two 1-1 draws before that. In other words, Chelsea have managed to ground out victories, despite dominating their opponents less than previously. As such, they must be considered favorites for this match as well. Their standout players, Costa and Hazard, are the two captain candidates from this team. Costa has blanked in his last three matches, but managed three goals and one assist in the five preceding matches. We all know Costa’s quality, but recent form suggests that Hazard is the better option, as he has failed to score or assist in only three of his last twelve matches. Additionally, he has three double digit returns in his last six matches, scoring four goals, two assists, and nine bonus points, which shows that he is as explosive as he is consistent. In two of the matches he got three bonus points, he only scored one goal and was substituted yet still managed to get all three bonus points, proving how influential he is while on the pitch. While Bournemouth may present a challenge to Chelsea, the Blues must still be considered favourites. Expect Chelsea to grind out another victory here, with Hazard and Costa leading the line, making them both prime candidates for your armband.
Phillipe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, Divock Origi (away vs Stoke)
[three_fifth padding=”0 20px 0 0″]
[/three_fifth]With both Lallana and Mane injured, many raised questions as to how these injuries would affect Liverpool’s attacking play, but it was defensively Liverpool struggled as they played 2-2 at home against Bournemouth Wednesday night. Origi and Coutinho both scored a goal, with Firmino providing an assist. While I am highlighting three players from Liverpool, they have all produced well recently. Coutinho has two goals and one assist in his last two matches, Origi has two goals and two assists in Liverpool’s last five matches despite only starting two of them, and Firmino has one goal and five assists in his last six. Stoke have gone four matches without a win, and they have consistently played poorly against better teams, losing 1-4 at Anfield earlier this season. Liverpool are on better form, with three wins and two draws recently. While the trip to Britannia may scare some fantasy managers away from Liverpool players, Liverpool are the favorites to win against a team that underperforms against better opposition, and Coutinho, Firmino, and Origi are all likely to be among Liverpool’s goals, and they are also likely to be overlooked by many as captain candidates for this round.
Romelu Lukaku (home vs Leicester)
[three_fifth padding=”0 20px 0 0″]
[/three_fifth]Despite blanking against Liverpool and Manchester United, Lukaku had great form before these matches, as he had five goals and two assists in the four preceding matches. Lukaku has grown from being the unreliable fantasy player we all had come to love and hate to being a consistent performer, putting him top of the top scorer chart with twenty-one goals this season. Everton’s recent performances have been as expected: they won comfortably at home against Sunderland, Hull, and West Bromwich, scoring nine goals and conceding none in the process, while they lost away against Tottenham and Liverpool and earned a draw at Old Trafford. Everton’s opponents, Leicester, have won all five matches since Ranieri’s sacking, but it is noteworthy that four of these matches were at home and that Liverpool was the only team in the top half of the table they faced. In other words, Everton away will be Shakespeare’s biggest test so far, and with Everton’s remarkable home form, Everton must surely be considered the favourites here. Lukaku has double digit returns in three of Everton’s last four home matches, making Lukaku a reliable and explosive captain candidate.

Fixture Tracker
The Tracker in full…
DGW34 IS ON THERE AS CONFIRMED BUT DGW37 IS VERY MUCH PROVISIONAL!
That’s our best guess as to how it will pan out and there is still Southampton vs Arsenal to be rearranged. That looks likely to be in GW35 or 36. The FPL site itself has said that they expect the remaining games to be confirmed on or around the 7th April.
Teams with DGW’s ahead… (with thanks to Rosco)
So everyone is getting players like Zaha and Bentekers? We do know they have freaking hard fixtures right? Anyway, what do I know. I made allt eh wrong decisions, again. Should have just went with the hit last gameweek and get freaking Tekkers then. Now it will be for games like Liverpool/Arsenal/Spurs. Games I don’t like.
Hey Raz, those Palace fixtures are horrible eh? On paper at least. Then again they have just gone and won at Chelsea!
Every team has offdays though. Look at United. IT’s the only thing they had after Fergie left. ;p
And then you have NEgredo whom scored in his last game but has been shite overall in his last 8.
ANyway, going through a rough patch the past couple of months and the game really isn’t cheering me up with the terrible scores I have had. Even looks like my mini-league is going to be lost after being head 100 points.
Vert for Coleman and leave it at that yeah? Or do what else?!
Spurs have a DGW coming on soon?
Yeah but in 37 so that’s irrelevant to me right now.
That’s an expensive defence there – you sure you don’t want to downgrade Coleman more and free up funds for elsewhere?
Only thing I’d consider it for is ‘Boro given their double. Could be an option. I’ll look at how they rotate with the others for 33. Thanks Robbo.
Am I right in guessing that every transfer you make involves several spreadsheets being carefully studied first?
Init, go get a defender from Arse, Utd or Soton. Those 3 have the most games left.
Not at all Robbo, honestly, I don’t believe in planning and preparation…. My desk as we speak! :see-no:
But yeah, this time of the season I take every single one as if it’s the last. ML on the line so I make no apologies for taking it deadly seriously!
There are more spreadsheets than is probably probable or indeed healthy
Probably wise advice that Elle. I’ll look at that too. Thank you.
No apologies needed for taking it seriously initt – I salute your dedication to the detail. I try but by this point in the season I had completely forgotten that there was a rotation sheet on this site…in fact, I’m off to have a look now before I rashly make my transfer(s) this week
I see you are playing IPL Fantasy as well then? :-p
Siggy to Theo…
ARS can hurt you big time in the next 2GW’s…
You ll thank me later 😉
p.s. not having Kun is also risky for next GW…
All about what the rivals have now HL. None have either of those. Siggy sits fine in relation too. If I could easily reach Kun I would but I can’t but again it doesn’t look like a ML consideration unless they take big hits to do so. And if they do start doing that then even better!
Bit late to the party here but that’s definitely the transfer I’d make Init. Either that or Davies if you’re raising funds for someone else.
Evening all. How’s everyone doing? I got a 61-4 last GW and lost ground in my ML, so I now have 32 points to make up. Any tips, please?
I have
Jakupovic, Valdes
Alonso, McAuley, Davies, Williams, Valencia
Eriksen, Alli, Sanchez, Coutinho, Lanzini
Vardy, Lukaku, Barnes
Am thinking of Eriksen and Lanzini out for Hazard and Ward-Prowse (hit). Is that nuts, with Eriksen’s fixture v Watford coming up? Don’t think Lanzini is doing me any favours, and with JWP’s DGWs on the horizon maybe that’s the way to go.
£0.1 ITB, by the way
Help!
Thanks
That seems like a pretty good team for this week as it is already? I certainly wouldn’t be losing Erik right now.
Lanzini has got double figure scores in hist last 3 home games, and Swansea aren’t very solid at the back – I would stick with what you have there.
Thanks, Init and Robbo.
The voices of reason. Had even thought of downgrading Sanchez to Wally to free up funds for Lanzini to Hazard.
Wise counsel – much appreciated.
Guys i’m thinking of WCing this week, here is what what I’ve got so far.
I originally had Vardy instead of Origi but Ibra is bottlenecking my funds so I decided to drop him.
What do you guys think of Origi and Wijnaldum.. Should Sane be in there instead of a double Spurs mid?
Feedback is appreciated.
joga
How about getting Hennessey for Grant so you can use him for Palace’s DGW?
I’m not sold on Wiji being FPL value at £7.5 (and you have Origi anyway) so how about Walcott in there? Arsenal have DGWs to come.
Hi guys all. Below is my team for this week. 64pts in last week. Any thing advice?
1. Do i need to transfer?
2. Stephens or Barragan or Holgate?
3. Who is captain? Ibra/ Sanchez/ Coutinho/ Ali or Vardy?
Kaka
Good score last week!
Unless you have two free transfers and would lose one if you didn’t make a change, I would save the transfer and line up as you have it.
Personally I would side with Alli for captain there as I think he has more potential of him getting 2 or 3 than Ibra does. Can understand Ibrahimovic being the choice for some though.
Thanks MitchellC,
Ali also looks good choice. I will decide it by today about cappo
Anyone know why John Terry cost £8.1 in the 2011 fantasy season?
He didn’t. He was only £7.4M and £7.5M at the end of each of the seasons straddling 2011.
No no he did cost 8.1 at one point
Yup,
It wasn’t the season you mentioned though.
Right my bad anyway you know why he cost that much?
He would probably of started off at 7/7.5 million with Chelsea keeping something ridiculous like 25 clean sheets the previous season and then raised the rest with all of the transfers ins and outs.
