Fantasy Premier League Set Piece Takers 2014-15
Ok then so we saw quite a few requests for an updated ‘Set-Piece takers’ list on the comments recently and it jogged our memory that we hadn’t done one and as ever we took notice and decided to take action. We had a quick look around the offices of FF247 and found Eddy and Flingy slumped in the corner playing cards and a light bulb came on! So suddenly Eddy became our roving reporter and was whisked around the world to see all of the pre-season friendlies he could manage in order to bring you the latest set-piece table, while we locked Flingy in a darkened room, with Google as his only friend, to bring you the stats on last seasons set-piece specialists. Enjoy…
Please find below the FF247 Set Piece Takers List for 2014/15. This list is a guide that we hope will help you select players that have the potential to bring in goals and crucial assist points. The table is based on information gathered from last season’s games, Opta stats, pre-season friendlies and FF247 community input.
The article itself is archived under the tab at the top of the page entitled Tips/News and is linked under the drop down box ‘FPL SET-PIECE TAKERS 2014-15’ so you can refer back to it at any time, as are many of our other articles and helpful tools such as Fixture Tracker and Weekly Tips.
Please be aware that this list is subject to change due to player injuries, drop in form, suspensions, manager whims, etc. The list will be updated throughout the season and as ever we welcome anybody in our community to inform us if you are aware of any updated roles or indeed anything you think we have got wildly inaccurate! You’re not perfect and neither are we 😉
Players are listed in order of priority for each particular role –

So while Eddy was jet setting around the globe, Flingy was busy squirreling away to bring us the highlights of last season’s set-piece stats which are below for your perusal. The first deals with the players who had the ‘Most’ in each section. The second examines the teams themselves. We hope you find these both informative and helpful. There are obviously some players in there who are no longer with us (gone abroad, not died) and there are new players at some clubs who will take over some of these duties.

Thanks for reading Fantasy Premier League Set Piece Takers 2014-15. These tips were brought to you by Eddy and Flingy.
Ed and Flingy thanks very much for this! great to have such info available at our fingertips
Just taken Sanchez out for Sterling could be a big misstake but need funds for better fwd what do you thk
Could be a great change tho. I think Sterling will do better than Sanchez.
Silver- I have been very impressed with Sterling so far and if I had to go with a Pool player then it would be him. Do you have any other arsenal cover tho?
Sorry Migs had to do some work no Ars cover might put Giroud in but not looking good keeping eye on Sanogo
Thanks for the article guys! Just 2 remarks regarding Swansea and Newcastle. De Guzman has returned to Villareal hasn’t he? So no free kicks for him. As for Newcaslle Ben Arfa seems to be having problem after problem so perhaps their new VC might be in charge of penalties and such?
Btw do we have a return date on Benteke? Seems like ages ago he played.
KFC,
Benteke was expected back in October, but both he and Lambert have said he is ahead of schedule but won’t be fit for the start, so going to stick my neck on the line and suggest sometime in September :hippo:
Cheers Cooks! I guess 0,2% of managers will have to wait a tad before seing him score them some points! haha!
Btw do you reckon a few youngster from the United squad will break in the first team this year (Blackett, Keane and Lingard come to mind as they played quite a bit). Also wonder why Wilson was not selected. So much promise after his debut last season!
KFC,
Wilson fractured his finger just before the tour and needed an op so he was left behind to recover and has since been playing for the reserves.
A lot depends on who we buy of course, but I would think at this stage that the likes of Wilson, Blackett Lingard, Keane and James will all feature during the season at certain times as LVG loves to develop a youngster and much is expected of these kids. This is of course, is if they are not loaned out for the season to get them experience – guess we will know more in the next fortnight or so.
Ok thanks for the update. LVG does in deed favour the youth academy so it will exciting to see who he puts his faith in. We are all hoping to sign quality players by the end of August but we might have some of that required quality waiting to be polished and nurtured by LVG. Our biggest and most important signing has been made so far.LVG. Hopefully he turns Blackett into a Hummels 2.0, Cleverley into Xavi 2.0 and Young into Robben 2.0. Then we are set! Ha!
We can only hope KFC, though I would suggest the last two are a bridge too far, even for LVG. A lot is thought of the kids though, which is great to see – and one would assume they have the right man at the helm to develop them.
What are ManU plans for Fellaini this year?
Haha Cookie one can only dream so much!
@bundeena: well Fellaini aka flop-aini is rumoured to Napoli day after day. But I donno if he will move. LVG could use him as back up. But a 27,5 million for a back up is quite a lot. LVG probs will wanna get rid the dead weight including Nani an Anderson. Personally I would love Fellaini to prove us all wrong and become some midfield powerhouse such as Matic. LVG should be able to find a role where he “excels”. Since he is still on vacay enjoyin’ life we can only assume. What are your thoughts?
Morning All
Quality article Lads.
But with Eddy polishing his Rifle and Flingy ringing the RAC for oil its amazing this Quality piece of journalism came together at all.
Brilliant
Potty
An update on my tinkering.
Newcastle / Sunderland rotation for keepers.
Luis and Debuchy to start every week. One of the other three based on home fixture rotation.
Ramsey, Mirallas, and Sterling every week. One of Snodgrass / Sigurdsson based on fixture rotation.
Jovetic, Rooney, and Costa to start every week.
Let me know if I’ve missed out any glaring issues, I’m pretty happy with the defence. The mid was a struggle but I think I’ve got most places covered here. I’d have liked Lamela over Mirallas but was £.5 short.
Flingy
Be wary on Miralles as he is likely to be a sub in Mwk 1
Potty
Cheers Potty, why is that?
Also regarding the Costa post, he has been playing friendlies so I reckon he should be starting come the PL, hopefully.
Flingy
PS…….Costa I hear from a close CFC lad ain’t fully fit as yet
Potty
NZ_Alex – I lied. It costs me the same to do this with my team:
Krul Pantilimon
Luis Debuchy Collins Mariappa SHAW
Ramsey Mirallas Sterling Sigurdsson ALBRIGHTON
Jovetic Rooney Costa
It’s only a draft and will likely change as I wanted to see what I could do with Yaya in there, so just bear that in mind:
Cookie- Not too shabby that! If you didn’t have Yaya in there then who would you be looking at? With his price tag means you missing out on Mata and have Young instead. The Ramsey/ Sanchez debate is a tough one but obv with funds here you have gone with ramsey. Alternatives could be Silva and Sanchez in for them. (would this be enough for Mata then?) No big hitters in defence which isn’t a major issue like many think. Not sure on Ward and Huth, davies better value I reckon. I have Bojan as well so I like that move. Not enough security with City strikers and not many others of good value to play 3-4-3 then.
Cooks, I like your team. Ive got a similar defence/attack although my midfield is very different. How dos your team rotate?
