Fantasy World Cup Live Match Chat Day 4

Oh yeah baby, Sunday’s don’t get any better than this. Not only is it the last day of the US Open golf, but it’s also the Lord’s Test match. Oh and we have some T20 action to enjoy. And……wait for it…..four, yes four World Cup games! Get in there.

Our day starts early, at 2am at Yaya’s Ivory Coast take on Kagawa’s Japan. Then you sleep and tell your partner to wake you up around midday. Go enjoy a lovely Sunday lunch and be ready for 5pm at the Swiss take on Ecuador….obviously not that exciting a game, but it’s just the build up to the evening. 8pm sees France take on Honduras and many of you will be looking to the likes of Benzema or Cabaye to produce a decent point’s tally for your side.

If you’re still awake – and you should be, you slept all morning, its the Argies – Messi, Aguero, Higuain, di Maria et al taking on the Bosnians. Get through this game still awake and you’d have had one hell of a 24hrs!

Sit back, relax and enjoy the action right here at FF247 Live Match Chat, an interactive chat which encourages you to keep involved and share your thoughts and emotions as the matches take place.

Thanks for reading Fantasy World Cup Live Match Chat Day 4 – Good luck everyone!

Does anyone know where we can see all the players scores so far?

Poor England. Not a surprise but still. Uruguay losing is a big surprise though. Same for Japan.

Anyway, why didn’t Shaw start? Shaw > Baines!

      Kop Warrior says:

Shaw was never going to start ahead of Baines!

      • Raziel says:

The left side was being overran. Think van Gaal would’ve started Shaw instead. Look how well it worked for Sterling by the way. Rooney was also crap on the left (apart from his assist). In my opinion Shaw had a much better year than Baines.

      • Calvin Clyne says:

Agree he was never going to start him first game, but after Baines’ crap performance I’d really like to see some balls from an England manager and just give Shaw a chance now. I know how I must be coming across but I’m usually the first to defend England when others are bashing them! That’s how frustrated I am.

        • Shadow says:

Baines wasn’t crap, he had 2 on 1 situation most times down his side. Not sure why they didn’t sort it at half time.

        • Mutley says:

Should have played Wellbeck out left and Rooney through the middle.

        • Calvin, i don’t think Baines played badly. He was defending the left side all on his own! Sure he didn’t get forward like he does in the prem, but if i knew i wasn’t going to get any cover, i don’t think i’d want to venture forward much either.
Shaw would’ve been even more exposed in my opinion as he might not have had the maturity to reduce the runs forward on account of the lack of cover in defence.

And i played left midfield for Spartak under 11’s, so i know what i’m talking about. 😉

I realise the complexities with transfers and formation changes but be warned do 1 transfer at a time!!!! Ive just tried to do 3 at once and its removed Baines (7) and Ramos (9) but fortunately I have got ahem…… Mesbah and Montazeri to come in!!!! :big-cry!!:

      peakydave says:

I can feel an unwanted Pottys prize may be on its way! :shake:

      • Oh dear Peaky. I think Cookie posted something a day or so ago saying to deselect the player first, then change formation. Not much good it’ll do you now though!
I’m sure the team(s) of those backup players will come through for you….
        smile

      • If I do nothing and just play my best 11, I should do well. Not because they will do great, but because the rest of you will end up with guys you never intended to play. I will reign in the confusion. Sometimes doing nothing is winning.

        • peakydave says:

Wish id just gone big-guns now!! Oh well at least im well versed on middle eastern flags! smile

        • HL says:

Chose to go with the same strategy, myself…
Happy with my 1st 11 and Cpt Neymar also did well, so I see no reason to change anything…
Once this round is over, maybe I ll downgrade someone depending on the results/performances etc so I can have at least 2 players that actually can play, sitting on my bench…
          For now, all is well…
Hope it will stay that way (no injuries and all that)…

        • Kop Warrior says:

HL – You do realise that we can make any transfers until after the group stages?

        • HL says:

          Yep…

        • Kop Warrior says:

          Cool

        • Calvin Clyne says:

No way man, the amount of times last season I had tasty points sitting on the bench this is a God-send! It’s obviously been explained very poorly, and this first GW seems to be pretty much trial and error, but from everyone’s shared experiences we seem to be sussing the rules out now so as long as you are careful you may as well rotate through as many players as you can.

      Andy says:

I’m in this boat too, I removed a player changed formation and still managed to lose my highest scoring defender somehow, also had to bring in Mesbah, surely it’s a sigh Dave.

      • peakydave says:

I just cant wait till the EPL starts again then we’ll all know exactly where we stand!! smile Actually Andy its a shame Algeria aren’t in Englands group again ,they kept a cleanie against us last time!! 😉

Hold on, tell us more about this Andy. You removed a player, and when you tried to change formation, another player was removed even though you had 1 spot open?

        • Andy says:

I tried to move to a 3-5-2 from a 4-4-2 so I switched out Manolas and changed formation but when I did it Baines also moved to the bench so I effectively had to make two substitutions instead of the planned one.

Do you remember if Baines was your rightmost defender?

        • Andy says:

          Indeed he was Tekno

        • Bongo says:

Hi Tekno, I have just had the same thing happen to me. I transferred out a defender that was sitting second from the left in my team with zero points to be replaced. I then changed formation to the required 3-4-3 to accommodate my midfielder, but instead of losing the blanked out player it just took the furthest player from the right. Lucky for me the player it took is yet to play so I can just transfer him back in.. Dodgy to say the least so positioning of players is very important.

        • Wow. That site is utter toilet.

Lesson for me is to stick with the starting formation no matter what.

Will try to plan accordingly in gwk 2.

    Andy + Teks, i had a 3-4-3 formation, i did this :-
1- took out Palacios of Honduras.
2- changed the formation on the tab to 4-3-3.
3- brought in Evra to join Manolas, Alves + Baines.
All hunky dory, for now anyway, its still a shite site tho, should have used the mirror, which is the same as the EPL site, as Mito said, some one who has made no changes is going to win Pottys comps, because those people changing are losing points willy nilly.

Mwahahahahahahah, lads, I realize there’s a lot of confusion concerning the McDonald’s fantasy site, all I gotta say is, I’m loving it…
When there’s so many surprises, so many flaws, it really will test our capabilities as fantasy managers due to all the unforeseen factors. I don’t know about any of you, but I’ve already devised a strategy to deal with this whole substitution nonsense…
    Remember folks…
    Chaos is a ladder.
