Fantasy World Cup Live Match Chat Last 16, Day 3
Morning Chins 😉 Welcome to the last 16 of the World cup – or the round of 16 as some choose to call it, or the first knockout stage. In fact, call it what you want – either way, it’s sudden death time – lose and you go home, outta here, offski and this will likely mean that your coach resigns or gets the chop or in England’s case receives a pat on the back and a “bad luck old chap”.
Monday is Europe vs Africa day. France vs Nigeria get’s us going – hopefully goals is the order of the day and a game akin to Nigeria’s 3-2 loss to Argentina will do very nicely, thanks lads. The evening gives us another viewing of ze Germans as zey take on ze plucky, mucky, lucky (delete as per your personal preference) Algerians. Both European sides will be favourites to go through, but it’s been a World Cup of surprises thus far so mustn’t count our chickens quite yet.
The final day of the round sees the Argies back on display as they attempt to neutralise the Swiss – that shouldn’t be tricky. However, with the likes of di Maria and Higuain quiet so far and Aguero injured (obviously), it’s been down to little Leo to carry the Argies through the group. Easy then, mark Messi out the game and you’ll be fine – how many times have we heard that before?! Switzerland’s only chance of course is if Shaqiri turns on the style and his hat-trick vs Honduras will leave him feeling on top of his game.
The round is concluded as Belgium take on the US of A. Could be a tough one to call this as Belgium have hardly set the tournament on fire as yet, while the Yanks have surprised many with their courage and adventure. Klinsmann of course, has been here before and knows what it takes to get through this stage of the tournament and there’ll surely be cries of “Mashed potato” and “You’re the man” if awesome talisman Dempsey can lead America through to the quarters, or quarter finals, or last 8, or the round of 8…..we’ve gone full circle here.
Enjoy, select your squad’s wisely and good luck.
Rumours flying around that Hummels is sick and wont feature. That would suck!!!!
Also we are in for some shocks when Algeria’s lineup comes out.
GO NIGERIA!> Really didn’t expect this, good job guys!
Giroud has been absolutely terrible so far. Some things never change.
Agreed. Hopeless first touch. Griezmann is a good option off the bench though. Pogba and Valbuena have both looked very lively too- the latter has earned me 6 points already!
Yep. They need to take him off and get Benzema back in the middle. Poor management from Deschamps, for me.
He has to be very frustrating to watch. He looks absolutely terrible, but he still ends up scoring!
They could do so much better. He really is a crap striker.
He should do better. There is a difference. Don’t think he can. 😛
i actually quite rate him, but today he’s been poor. And his aerial strength is something he’s got to be careful of, he’s throwing a few elbows too
Valbuena already on 6 points. :hippo:
GET INNNN
Indeed. He’s unlucky to not have an assist yet too.
Josh
Any players in this match? I have Enyeama, Omuero, Varane, and Benzema (c). Scored 17 pts between them so far.
I have Benzema and Matuidi playing. Would have had Sakho, but I guess he didn’t feel like playing haha.
And just lost 2 points from Matuidi for that tackle. -1 for the yellow and another -1 for 3 fouls. Awesome.
Can I ask who your strikers are? I have Benzema, Müller, and Messi (Slimani sub). Do you have Neymar?
I do. I avoided the Messi train again; I have Neymar, Benzema, and Müller with Slimani and Djabou as subs.
Oooooo, very likely that Messi ends up as my cap then ^^^^
I will counter that with Djabou as my captain as he gets a hat trick against the Germans
If Benzema doesn’t get more points I could very well end up playing both Slimani and Djabou. :big.lol:
Hull sign Snodgrass.
great signing for both parties
Yeah, he’ll do well for them i reckon. Could be a cheapie for us in FPL next season too. Cant see him being 6 or 6.5m for Hull.
indeed. Hull might be a solid option generally. I think I had 3 of them through most of last season. Snod would be better than Livermore as a budget midfielder
I don’t think Snodgrass will be much of a budget mid. He’ll probably be his usual 6 or 6.5 price. Too expensive as a 5th mid and is probably good for the 4th mid spot. There might be other better options though.
He could be the ‘Brady’ we all had in the beginning of the season, who scored crucial points for us with set pieces duty.
