And then there were four. It’s semi-final time at the World Cup and very much a South America vs Europe affair. We’ve said a sad farewell to Colombia, who received an amazing reception when they returned to Bogota. Also offski are Costa Rica, who played with so much heart and a stubborn defence throughout the tournament, while Belgium and France have also exited stage left.
Our first semi-final sees hosts Brazil take on the World Cup’s Herr Consistent, Germany. The Germans were back to their robotic best in disposing of France, while Brazil produced their best display of the tournament, certainly in the first half as they fought, literally, past the plucky Colombians.
The second semi brings together Argentina and the Netherlands, both of whom have somewhat stuttered through so far. The Dutch needed penalties to find a way past Costa Rica, which will be an obvious concern for LVG as he attempts to plot a way past the Argentinian defence which has kept two clean sheets in a row. If recent form is anything to go, goals may be at a premium here, so it may just be a moment of magic from Lionel Messi, Arjen Robben, Gonzalo Higuain or RvP which settles the tie. Worth noting that Angel Di Maria has been ruled out with injury, but better news of Sergio Aguero, who is expected to have recovered from (his latest) injury in time for the showdown.

who knows Big, think you’ll see a much different Holland side as LVG has no interest in playing this game. Maybe Brazil with Silva back may look to recover some pride and if the decent Dutchies are rested then maybe Silva, Oscar may be worth consideration.
Will have to be a late call though mate due to the teams being potentially very different to what we have seen thus far.

Evening ATF, as I understand it, Sanchez passed his medical this afternoon and an announcement is likely tonight or tomorrow, which should then pave the way for Barca to announce Suarez.
The fee for Sanchez I understand is 27.5mln with 2.3mln of add-ons depending on what they achieve, which I guess in Arsenal’s case is their usual 4th place Championship trophy.

Fancy Sanchez to be a big hit at Arsenal, prob more suited to our game than Ozil, in my opinion. With Walcott fit and if they can keep Ramsey and Wilshire fit and with Abou Dhiaby returning they could be a proper outfit this season.

Hi NIN, I must admit it’s the one FF game I could never take to. We tried to start a league last season on here, well actually it was on FFC then, but the interest was so low I think the league consisted of me and either Gasco or Muts and I gave it up after about 6 weeks.

Don’t get Raz’s hopes up mate! It’s not a goal unfortunately. In a shoot out once the ball comes forward again it’s inactive without going into the finer detail of the actual rule. This is different to a normal penalty in a game. It looks like it hit him on the way out as well which is the final nail in that one I’m afraid as that cannot count then regardless.
