FF247 Christmas Week Bundle – GW’s 20 & 21

In order to give our hard working team a bit of time off over the Christmas period, we have decided to wrap our whole festive week up in one article. Sort of. We shall still update our FF247 Site Team on the article each time, but perhaps without the usual amount of detail. The Predicted Line-Ups will still be live at all times.

DGW21
This one begins on Saturday 1st January, with an 11am deadline (maybe!), and now finishes about a week and a half later on Wednesday 12th.
We were down to 8 games, having lost Leicester vs Norwich and Saints vs Newcastle due to injuries Covid, although the deadline remains for now. That has now been bumped back up to 11 with the three additional games the week after.

Sticking to the theme of being brief…
Summary of GW20
San Francisco FF247 69ers
There must be something about the number ‘69’ as it is our most scored points tally this season now. It’s only a treble, out of 20 weeks and almost 6 months, but hey if you keep asking…
It was a welcome tickle after a recent spate of red arrows and actually saw us post our 2nd best GW rank of the season; 74,929th. That’s still a lot of numbers though and probably doesn’t sound that impressive but these individual GW ranks are an oddity, as having looked at the rest they are predominantly in the millions. In fact it’s difficult to fathom how our overall rank is actually so high (relatively) when you look at them all individually, and indeed collectively.
Anyway, we digress. So how did we come upon this latest satisfying 69? According to some of our own committee it was ‘pure blind luck’. According to others it was simply because we played our WC so late that we were able to capitalise on a mixture of latest info, current form and fixtures. It was also down to us holding our nerve a bit over things like not owning Salah, sticking with Ronnie and not doing anything daft (like selling Bowen for a hit ahead of Watford, just as a random example).
Overall that left us at 139,312th, which means we effectively halved our rank.
Let’s go see what decided ahead of GW21 then with 2 FT’s in hand, a DGW looming and another 69er notched. But as we all know…
Transfer(s) for GW21
Given that it is NYE and most of our committee seem to be on the piss and unable to commit to any early morning involvement we have decided to make our moves now.
With a token gesture of a nod to the alleged upcoming DGW, combined with a guilt free 2 FT’s, we have decided to grab a couple of them and just crack on, come what may and all that.
Rudiger was on thin ice anyway and so he makes way for Diop. We would have preferred Coufal but we couldn’t afford both him plus any real decent replacement elsewhere so Diop gets the honour, with the bonus that he is pretty much nailed on, whereas their full-backs aren’t so much.
It is also all compromise up top as ideally we would have liked Antonio or even DCL but Toney fitted the budget and his fixtures are hardly the worst for someone also on pens.
It’s all a bit punty but let’s face it what is these days.
To confirm then we have SOLD Rudiger & Broja and BOUGHT Diop & Toney

Just replaced Salah with Mane, I think he will be the ideal replacement when Salah is at Africa Cup. Don’t think many will be smart enough to make this move, most will go for Son.
Salah and Mané are both away for AFCON..? So this does not feel like a smart move, no.

That’s a really underwhelming DGW IMO. I tried a quick FH draft but halfway through I couldn’t even think of DGW players that I’d like to have in my team. No more than 4-5 standout options. Also, I am quite hesitant to replace my Liverpool duo and West Ham triple ahead of home games against Brentford and Leeds.
What are your initials thoughts?
Not fh worthy for me… got 4 dgw players, (5 after ft) and right now it looks like i will just go with that…
I am in a bit of a pickle as I only have 3 DGW players and one of them is Dalot
Now there are reports that Pep tested positive and 7 first-team players are in isolation.
I will keep my eyes open and decide what to do close to deadline.
The only tempting DGW teams are Leicester, Brighton, Manu, and spurs really unless FH to get Chelsea for one week punt.
Maybe Maddison, Cucurella, Ronaldo and DDG from those teams but that’s pretty much it for me.
Yep, if you insist on Chelsea players only FH makes sense as they have BGW 24 and 25.
Thinking maybe FH as I have Salah and very few doubles. As I have all my chips and triple City. No Spurs or Ronaldo
I’ve used one of the FH in GW19. As it stands of now, have 5 DGW players and need a couple of Man U.

If u used a free hit and have 5 dgw already, just take a hit i would say.
Liverpool and west ham fixture is still very good.
I wouldn’t FH and I wouldn’t be in any rush to get United players.

If down one FH I certainly would not use it as there will be a big blank later. Those that still have all chips though I do wonder when you would use them all

Having both FH’s does at least give me a bit more flexibility as to when I use my WC.

Smash, it’s very team dependent, so I can see why you’d go for it. I might be forced into it myself if the City outbreak worsens and if there are other fixture changes. We’ll see once we are close to the deadline.
Are you going to deal with Salah next week or thinking of holding him for the next one/two until he’s back?
If I FH I’ll prob hold onto him I guess though losing value. If I don’t FH I’ll sell this week for Son for sure

I thought of free hit but have 2 manu and spurs each. Can get maddison and then maybe dennis for a – 4. To have 6 dgw players.
A – 8 maybe if i want to be aggressive.
I only have 3 DGW players (one of them is Dalot) and just thinking that a -4 ph will do me. However, those are my initial thoughts but there is a lot of time until the next deadline, so I reserve my right to change my mind haha
Having watched United play against Wolves, I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see Dalot come back into the XI.
My thinking as well, AwB was comical at times…I think Dalot starts the next one but don’t know whether he starts both.

Afternoon all,
Is this team worthy of a free hit? I have 1FT and 0 ITB, I’m leaning towards saving my two free hit chips for blanks and future DGWs, and just using my FT for Bernardo >> Maddison.
Is it worth doing any further moves for a hit? Maybe a Spurs or Brighton defender for Livra and then play him over Cancelo?
I don’t think a FH is needed. Using the 1 FT to bring in another DGW player should work fine. That is what I am leaning on at the moment. The Bernardo>Maddison is a good shout. I had not considered that one yet myself but I like it. Obviously waiting to see how the remainder of this GW plays out.
Hi all, DGW announcement bit of a bust, no? That said, I’m leaning towards just one FT as I’ve got 5 players doubling so far. Probably replacing Watkins – what do people think of Wood vs Maupay? ( A question I never thought I’d write here….

I would tempted to just go for Dennis or King or both if you already have one of them. They have a decent double and then Norwich the week after.
