FF247 Christmas Week Bundle – GW’s 20 & 21

In order to give our hard working team a bit of time off over the Christmas period, we have decided to wrap our whole festive week up in one article. Sort of. We shall still update our FF247 Site Team on the article each time, but perhaps without the usual amount of detail. The Predicted Line-Ups will still be live at all times.

DGW21
This one begins on Saturday 1st January, with an 11am deadline (maybe!), and now finishes about a week and a half later on Wednesday 12th.
We were down to 8 games, having lost Leicester vs Norwich and Saints vs Newcastle due to injuries Covid, although the deadline remains for now. That has now been bumped back up to 11 with the three additional games the week after.

Sticking to the theme of being brief…
Summary of GW20

There must be something about the number ‘69’ as it is our most scored points tally this season now. It’s only a treble, out of 20 weeks and almost 6 months, but hey if you keep asking…
It was a welcome tickle after a recent spate of red arrows and actually saw us post our 2nd best GW rank of the season; 74,929th. That’s still a lot of numbers though and probably doesn’t sound that impressive but these individual GW ranks are an oddity, as having looked at the rest they are predominantly in the millions. In fact it’s difficult to fathom how our overall rank is actually so high (relatively) when you look at them all individually, and indeed collectively.
Anyway, we digress. So how did we come upon this latest satisfying 69? According to some of our own committee it was ‘pure blind luck’. According to others it was simply because we played our WC so late that we were able to capitalise on a mixture of latest info, current form and fixtures. It was also down to us holding our nerve a bit over things like not owning Salah, sticking with Ronnie and not doing anything daft (like selling Bowen for a hit ahead of Watford, just as a random example).
Overall that left us at 139,312th, which means we effectively halved our rank.
Let’s go see what decided ahead of GW21 then with 2 FT’s in hand, a DGW looming and another 69er notched. But as we all know…
Transfer(s) for GW21
Given that it is NYE and most of our committee seem to be on the piss and unable to commit to any early morning involvement we have decided to make our moves now.
With a token gesture of a nod to the alleged upcoming DGW, combined with a guilt free 2 FT’s, we have decided to grab a couple of them and just crack on, come what may and all that.
Rudiger was on thin ice anyway and so he makes way for Diop. We would have preferred Coufal but we couldn’t afford both him plus any real decent replacement elsewhere so Diop gets the honour, with the bonus that he is pretty much nailed on, whereas their full-backs aren’t so much.
It is also all compromise up top as ideally we would have liked Antonio or even DCL but Toney fitted the budget and his fixtures are hardly the worst for someone also on pens.
It’s all a bit punty but let’s face it what is these days.
To confirm then we have SOLD Rudiger & Broja and BOUGHT Diop & Toney

Obviously not rushing anything but just some early thoughts. I was planning on saving my FH but things don’t look great atm. I have 1 FT, 5.6 M ITB and all chips available.
Hit(s) or FH, that’s the question
I have the same problem. Its tough when a lot of the single game week players have a good fixture. It makes it harder to say if you FH team would outscore your actual team, although of course in theory it should.
The free hit template might smash it but perhaps there might be a better opportunity in future also.
Due to this i’m leaning towards not using the chip and running the risk, although i’m still not certain.
You could do Watkins to Ronaldo/Kane and Son to Maddison for example and have a fairly good looking team for the double.
Also do you think Foster will be back?

Thanks for your thoughts SA Cooper! I was leaning towards not using a chip and transfers similar to the ones you mentioned. However, I think I may need to FH now after the latest TAA news. Also, I saw rumours that Coufal has COVID as well, so I may be forced into FH.
I don’t know if Foster will be back but I have Guaita coming from the bench if he doesn’t. I know he is Ben is “close to full fitness”.

I think it depends how many FH you have left. If you have only 1, definitely save it, if you have 2 it’s a bit more flexible. Smashes posted on the previous page is useful for planning, there could be a lot of DGW towards the end of the season, however we may have a bit more notice to plan for these.
Cheers SF! I’ve planned and planned but things keep changing, so we gotta adapt. I have all chips available and the latest plan was TC GW26, FH GW27, FH GW30, WC GW32/33/34, BB GW36. That plan might need some adjusting now.
I’ve a similar problem and for me hits will be the answer. Son to Maddy and Watkins to Kane is my choice. They are good choices beyond GW22 and also Son will lose you TV if you FH
Cheers Otieno! Yeah, that Son injury and losing TV is proper annoying. I think I will just be ready with the FH draft and planned transfers for not using FH, and reassess 30 minutes before the deadline (fingers crossed fpl website won’t crash again)…

Hi there all – it seems there are multiple schools of thought on what to do for next week, all depending I suppose on our team structures, cards used, individual hopes and pretentions etc etc.
) – Williams – Sanchez (Mr 15 points himself!)
I’ve only 3 DGW players atm (Sanchez, Sanchez & King – sounds like a team of football club barristers!) and was really looking forward to the FH, as I saw it as a way of (obviously, AJW!) keeping my existing squad and giving myself the leisure of dreaming for GW 22. I’ve heard all the arguments for and against, but seriously thinking about persisting with this, as I’ve seen that 100s of thousands of FPLers have already traded , and many for the unfortunate Son; leading me to think that the incidence of points hits will be very high for this round. In my view (and in my specific situation), the FH is an opportunity to make ground on those who will be losing 4, 8 and even 12 pts, for essentially having a similar team. I’m thinking of converting my current squad into a 8xDGW + 3 SGW player team, with cheaper, playing substitutes just in case. I’m pretty sure that it will gimme the boost I sorely need, but then again I guess every player and their dog will be thinking along similar lines! Team is as follows:
Sanchez – Fabianski
TAA – Cancelo – James (
Salah – Jota – Phoden – Gray – Bowen
DCL – Antonio – King
Basically the Covid situation has meant that my team is also set up for an eventual BB at some stage – like many others. (Farrrrk – am I rambling????)

Only change I’d make is maybe downgrading DDG (play Sanchez)

I rather think that one of the Watford boys (either Dennis, or King if he isn’t playing) may do as well as Luka – given the oppositions. But, hey, loads of seemingly ‘predictable’ situations have gone in the exact opposite direction before haven’t they?

Have just seen the report in the paper about Spurs’ win – and your selection of Moura might be a good one – was thinking about this too 6 and I see that my old mate Sanchez (Spurs) was not used (but on the bench) making me think that he could be a good value pick for the DGW. Hmm – this could work out to be a good gameweek, if one plays it right! Am afraid about ditching Antonio for Dennis, but Watford do have 2 good fixtures and he is one of the top strikers atm! Ah choices, choices! 😉
