FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team Gameweek 14
Welcome to the FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team Gameweek 14.
BEFORE YOU READ ANYTHING ELSE… THIS WEEKS DEADLINE IS TONIGHT! 18:45 GMT Raz you have been warned!
Talk about chasing last week’s points! We brought in Wilson and Pogba after they seemingly ‘hit form’ with a joint total of 29 points last time. This time… 5! In total. That’ll teach us. Or them. We are on a wildcard this week, but will they make the cut? Stay tuned to find out. In total we got 57 points which was actually ok, the average was 43 and it saw us ahem ‘rocket’ up the rankings (not that hard from such a lowly base!) from 420k to 279,771. Still a long way to go but at least it’s a jump in the right direction after three consecutive red arrows. Aside from the new flops, sorry signings, the rest was a mixed bag. DDG did his usual with a welcome clean sheet. The rest of the defence just about managed to match his 6 points between them. Richarlison got the same with an assist and Sterling pulled the rest of the midfield out of a hole with a welcome 13 points, albeit from an assist on a penalty and a goal he knew not much about! Up top Kane stumbled to an improbable captain haul of 16 and Jesus came off the bench with an assist. And now the fun begins… WILDCARD TIME!
Last weeks ‘result’…
This weeks WILDCARD!
Where do we start?! Some have been champing at the bit for weeks to play the wildcard, but the majority held firm until we just couldn’t resist anymore. Rotation at City was made worse by Pep’s reported comments last week that Aguero and Jesus would not start many games together (which now he has backtracked on). Alonso, despite a couple of recent clean sheets was taking up too much cash at the back and limiting what we could do elsewhere. We had Davies who is now being threatened by Rose, Cedric was lingering about like a lost soul, we had some chap called Long from Burnley who doesn’t play – even Tom Carroll’s place was now under threat. Chelsea’s fixtures are about to turn very positive. And we still didn’t own Salah!
So the decision was made, the button was pressed. All we needed to do was reach agreement. Hmmm. The fun had only just begun.
Bear in mind there are five of us, spread over four countries, with time zone issues, family commitments, work pressures, a series of disagreements was inevitable, but all in all, we didn’t do too bad. We are all still talking. Sort of. As much we did beforehand anyway.
The biggest issue, as we’re sure many of you are agonising over was whether to choose Hazard or Morata to cover Chelsea’s fixtures. We really wanted Hazard deep down but we did everything possible to justify a team without him. But we failed. And indeed not only have we got Hazard but his mate joins in also as we go heavy on Chelsea. Kane stays and without a real standout 3rd striker we have taken the unprecedented step (for us at least) of going 3-5-2.
Niasse is our 3rd striker. We know, we know. Run, Forrest Run. Our squad really is a box of chocolates. There’s always one you don’t like. Or two.
To be fair to Niasse he’s done ok and with RLC in as our 5th midfielder, we’ll likely play RLC most weeks – his short term fixtures are good enough to warrant starting and his goal at the weekend confirmed the move.
Salah was a ‘shoe-in’ and Richarlison stays.
The surprising element was us keeping Sterling. In all honesty he’s only there due to our fickleness after his goal and assist at Huddersfield. He is however great value, even from the bench. We’d have liked Sané but costs dictated otherwise.
So at this point we were left with limited resources at the back. DDG stayed until the last minute, but his inclusion meant our defence was stupidly weak and we decided, reluctantly, to sell DDG and use the proceeds to get a Chelsea and Arsenal defender (Christensen and Mustafi) while the remaining three spots go to Simpson, Lowton and Dunk who actually rotate pretty well, on paper at least!
In goal we plumped with Begovic alongside Elliot. Pope was a strong consideration, but we were wary of Heaton returning at some point, plus the extra 0.1mln just went that little bit further to shore up the defence.
The team in full
And so this is how we line up ahead of GW14…
Our Captain is Eden Hazard
No pressure Eden, but our rank is pony, we’ve brought you into the fold and now we’re empowering you with the armband. Lead the troops by example, we demand nothing less – you have some Welsh people visiting this week, take them to the sword man, take them to the sword! And while you’re there, set up a couple for your mate Alvaro too. Just in case Eden defects, Harry Kane is our vice captain.

Leave Davies there or start him hoping it’s 90 or nothing? Probably nothing.
Id keep him on the bench.
Thanks B
Init,
Are you planning to sell him imminently?
This will help me answer your question.
What earthly difference does that make GP?!
Well . . .
If you plan on selling him then I would l start him and hope for one last shebang.
If you are keeping him then why would you keep someone of that price and NOT use him so play him.
Just play him I guess is the headline here.
Seriously, I would play him before Lejeune
I think I’d take the risk and play him. It’s a minimal chance he comes off the bench for Rose and it’s possible he starts. But yeah you know the risks and Lejeune don’t have a bad fixture
All set?
I think you’re going to get Wilson anyway Macro so yeah that looks OK.
Need some help here guys. 2 FT.
1. Lukaku, Erik > Morata (C), Sane (cant afford Hazard)
2. Erik, Lukaku > Hazard (C), Firmino
3. Lukaku > Morata (C) and save other FT

Thinking of using 2nd FT any way, Rangel > Daniels, bench Gomez and play Daniels ahead. Will have a good backup in case Sterling is benched?
That’s not a bad plan as well actually. As much depth as you can get at this time of year is never normally a bad thing.

Hello B, for me it´s option 3. Wouldn´t buy Sane right now, he´s just one yellow card away from ban.
Damn, completely overlooked that. Thanks for reminding. Just realised that Murray is on thin ice as well.
When does the YC accumulation reset, after Christmas?
Here you go Colriles
Good stuff Innit.
Howdy all, hope last GW was a good one.
Sitting on this lot, 1 FT and 0.2 ITB.
Hold FT for this week… or anything glaring that anyone can see?
Looks good, I might go with Daniels ahead of Richarlison. But your starting 11 is in good shape.
Thought about it B, but Richarlison seems to be in great form right now. Think he’s got points returns in his last 4.
Hi all, hope you are well. Any advice on my team? Got 1 FT and 1.8m in the bank. And yes, that is a 4-5-1 formation.
I have some suggestions myself:
A) Davies -> Alonso (double Chelsea defence)
B) Kane -> Morata
C) KDB and Ladapo -> RLC and Morata (-4, change to 4-4-2)
I think it’s between A and C for me. I’d obviously be without City cover, but I think that’s okay for now as they are not as explosive anymore.
Thoughts guys?
Without City cover if I go with option C, that is
Dude. you’d sell Kane? Everybody has been posting that Kane scores versus Leicester like versus no other team. ANd from the 4 braces he scored this season, 3 came away from home. I’d go C.
Sup Raz
Did you know that I live in the Netherlands now? Yeah, I thought about selling Kane for Morata for Kane’s two away matches (while Morata has delicious home matches), then just bring Kane back if he started firing again. But option B seems the least sensible to me
I’d hold the FT. Looks like you can have a good line up with that bunch. Upfront needs wiri
I’d go C
Cheers Raz, Gavy, Smash, I think I’m gonna go with C.
I am happy with the team, just two thoughts.
1. Should I be starting Jones?
2. Elliot or foster?
1- I’ve stuck Jones in and put Davies in 1st bench spot. Not super sure either way.
2- Close but Foster for me.
Cheers colriles. I’ll follow your lead on the GK.
This will be Davies last chance for me so going to give him the bod and leave him on
@Gavy, I will be patiently awaiting your meltdown this GW. 😉
Gavy – id start Foster as Newcastle are struggling big-time for goals
