We need to talk about Kevin… again!

It’s amazing what a difference 1 solitary player can make to a GW. With 7 of our players, including our captain, gifting us just 21 points we were going into the Liverpool game staring down the barrel of yet another disappointing red arrow. Alexander-Arnold surpassed this on his own with an amazing 24, and Mane chipped in with an assist too. The outlier from all this was Alli who had earlier grabbed us a goal. For once our latest signing also did something as Grealish got us an assist too. In the late game Jimenez got us a goal and an assist leaving us on a total of 70 points for the week which meant a fair jump back up the ranks to some degree of acceptable decency; we gained about 50,000 places and now sit in approximately 60,000th according to some ‘outside of FPL sources’ (at the time of writing the actual official ranks are still updating, but you get the gist; we are in the green).

Going into GW20 we have 1 free transfer and £3.7m in the bank. Let’s go see what was decided…

Our GW20 Transfer(s)
Some things just aren’t meant to be. On at least 3 separate occasions this season we have talked about / saved up money for bringing Kevin into our team but for whatever reason it’s just never happened. Well, make that 4! Last time out we stated our intention to buy him this week for Zaha but we were fully aware that we were leaving ourselves vulnerable as it was dead on the money. A -4 to secure it early was discussed but at that point it made little sense as it meant benching one of a seemingly strong front 8. We did however also agree that if we were scuppered then we would still be happy enough to proceed with Zaha away to the Saints and simply hope that it was a blessing in disguise and that Pep would rescue us with his rotational habits.

And sure enough a pesky overnight price change means that we are yet again left to talk about Kevin for another day.

To confirm then we have HELD our transfer

Captain – Sadio Mane
Not the easiest fixture on paper this week, but almost certainly the strongest team, and having seen Liverpool make Leicester look like Lincoln we are hoping Mane can make Wolves look like Wycombe.

For the record he got 3 votes, Vardy got 1 and Alli got mentioned along the way too, mainly as a vice.

Is anybody else starting Lord Lundy (probably over Kelly and/or Rico) for this weekend’s onslaught of PL matches? His first haul in GW2 still reverberates around in my haunted mind.

This is my WC team, good to go or any suggested changes/recommendations? Thanks

VvD over TAA seems criminal now. Any cash to spare?

      • AC Kop says:

Unfortunately no cash to spare! I could potentially do traore to Dendoncker to fit him in?

        • jamesimmo says:

I can’t directly advocate Traoré’s removal after what he did for my team last night but, on the flip side, TAA did even more…

Perhaps even Söy to somebody cheap? It depends on how you believe Leicester will react with their better upcoming fixtures. Either way: it’s probably worth the sacrifice somewhere.

Really want to keep Kane as a differential but replacing Kane frees up some money!
        Can do the following:
        VVD > TAA
        Grealish > Maddison
        Salah > Mane
        Traore > Cantwell
        Kane > Firmino/ Rashford

        • AC Kop says:

Kane > Rashford also would allow me to keep Salah

        • jamesimmo says:

That’s a decent little trade-off. I can’t seem to re-accept Cantwell as a viable FPL asset, haha, but I appreciate that you can’t expect too much from those within his price bracket.

Kane vs Norwich [(A) and (H) over the next batch of Gameweeks] fills me with optimism too. Although, that said, owning Firmino’s a great differential as well.

      Thanks Jamesimmo!

May just sleep on it and see how I feel in the morning.
      Here’s another option:

TAA will outscore VVD in the long run imo…So Traore to Dendo or if possible to Cantwell and VVD to TAA…. After all there is no point in keeping money in the Subs where as you can spend that on the 1st eleven.

Hey guys. Zaha to Salah, done. Captain Salah/Mane/Kane? Can’t decide.

    Ditching Lundstram on WC. Madness?

Faces Arsenal, Liverpool and City twice in next 5 GWs. Tough schedule ahead.

Any suggestions for this wc team?

Hi Gang. I have 0.6 in the bank and one free transfer. Am concerned at having a weak bench and potential rotation issues might cause me problems. Am thinking Pieters out for Rico, however as always, I’m open to all options. Thanks all.
