We need to talk about Kevin… again!

It’s amazing what a difference 1 solitary player can make to a GW. With 7 of our players, including our captain, gifting us just 21 points we were going into the Liverpool game staring down the barrel of yet another disappointing red arrow. Alexander-Arnold surpassed this on his own with an amazing 24, and Mane chipped in with an assist too. The outlier from all this was Alli who had earlier grabbed us a goal. For once our latest signing also did something as Grealish got us an assist too. In the late game Jimenez got us a goal and an assist leaving us on a total of 70 points for the week which meant a fair jump back up the ranks to some degree of acceptable decency; we gained about 50,000 places and now sit in approximately 60,000th according to some ‘outside of FPL sources’ (at the time of writing the actual official ranks are still updating, but you get the gist; we are in the green).

Going into GW20 we have 1 free transfer and £3.7m in the bank. Let’s go see what was decided…

Some things just aren’t meant to be. On at least 3 separate occasions this season we have talked about / saved up money for bringing Kevin into our team but for whatever reason it’s just never happened. Well, make that 4! Last time out we stated our intention to buy him this week for Zaha but we were fully aware that we were leaving ourselves vulnerable as it was dead on the money. A -4 to secure it early was discussed but at that point it made little sense as it meant benching one of a seemingly strong front 8. We did however also agree that if we were scuppered then we would still be happy enough to proceed with Zaha away to the Saints and simply hope that it was a blessing in disguise and that Pep would rescue us with his rotational habits.

And sure enough a pesky overnight price change means that we are yet again left to talk about Kevin for another day.

To confirm then we have HELD our transfer

Captain – Sadio Mane
Not the easiest fixture on paper this week, but almost certainly the strongest team, and having seen Liverpool make Leicester look like Lincoln we are hoping Mane can make Wolves look like Wycombe.

For the record he got 3 votes, Vardy got 1 and Alli got mentioned along the way too, mainly as a vice.

  1. Really torn on captain this week.
    Who would u pick out of
    Mané Vardy or kdb?

    • Any of those would be fine options. Liverpool are in steamroller mode, so Mané would be he best bet, I think. But surely Wolves can’t do to them what they did to City? :popcorn:

  3. Guys I’m being indecisive about capo choices. Had it on KDB but also thinking Mane but fear he will be rested. What do you think guys

  4. Any glaring issues or am I good to go?
    Was considering shipping CHO but may roll the FT..like many others I’m in mane/KDB dilemma lol..cheers in advance..

    • Yeah probably save the transfer. KDB came off last night so I think he’ll start tomorrow.

  5. Lots of people going with Mane or KDB as captain this week? Anyone thinking Vardy is worth it against West Ham?

    • Yes, I have it on him.

    • For what it’s worth I’m going vardy, but got my capo pick wrong last 2 weeks!

      Rodgers has said that Vardy won’t play all the festive matches. So I think he sits this one or Newcastle on New Year’s Day out – at least from the start.

      That was before the Liverpool result so perhaps Rodgers will put importance on an immediate bounce back and play his strongest team. Have a good reliable vice is what I’d say.

    • Vardy against West Ham is a great option, I think there is a bit of concern about him being rested and that’s why he is slightly overlooked. But it’s the Christmas madness, so anyone can be rested, so go with your gut.

    • Thanks guys! I think everyone is liable to rotation, the only thing I don’t want is for both the captain and vice to be benched this week!

    Afraid Sterling, Mane and TAA are being rested this round so thought of just Sterling -> Salah

    Cappo Salah, vice Vardy

    • I don’t think you can justify selling Sterling after scoring two goals with an ‘idea’ of rotation.

        • Dunk to a cheaper reserve and monitor Liverpool and City this week with two transfers in hand next.

          Boring but both City boys could go well and you could bring in a Liverpool player who is rested for this week.
