Extraordinary(ly) (Pointless) General Meeting…

We won’t beat around the bush here; GW22 was less than kind to us. We scraped home with just 48 points, 9 below the average. Inevitably it meant a big red arrow, one to the tune of almost exactly 50,000 places, which now sees us in 141,497th, our 2nd lowest ranking of the season. Our entire team managed just 3 assists and 1 goal between them. Our highest scoring player was captain Vardy with just 10, and that was doubled up from 5, which pretty much tells you all you need to know.

Our GW23 Transfer(s)
We come into GW23 with 1 FT and £1.5m in the bank.

As mentioned last week we decided that we were going down the ‘Robbo’ route, as opposed to the Salah one. And with that in mind we needed to raise a bit of cash. We began that process by losing Alli to Maddison and this week the cull continues at a pace…

Anyone who has followed us with any modicum of interest over the years will know that we are anything but rash and certainly don’t go making early transfers just to beat the odd price rise. That was until this week! We don’t normally even have a ‘team’ meeting until a Thursday but on Wednesday night we were alerted that our intended target Danny Ings was on the cusp of a price rise, cue an Extraordinary General Meeting. Cue people being dragged out of bed, away from their TV’s and families, pulling over at roadsides and in some cases even as extreme as having to stop shopping for FF247 branded phone cases.

Possibilities were explored, including a fresh discussion about whether Robbo was indeed the correct path, which brought Firmino and Salah back onto the table, albeit briefly. The upshot was that we were happy enough to make an early transfer, for once, and so it was done; Tammy left us, Danny joined and our plans were still on course. They do still teeter on the brink of disaster though as we are now bang on the money to acquire Robbo at the expense of Mings next week. It’s a situation we shall just have to monitor and we have a back up strategy should something go wrong which could conceivably involve either Firmino or Salah again.

And then after all that scrambling… Ings didn’t rise after all! D’oh!

To confirm then we have SOLD Tammy Abraham and BOUGHT Danny Ings

Captain – Kevin De Bruyne
With City looking back in form and facing Palace at home this week Kevin romped home with 4 votes. Jamie Vardy picked up the other plus all of the votes for Vice Captain, so if Pep were to do something silly he will step in.

  1. Hi all. Thanks for the articles this week – some real food for thought.

    I’m pretty tempted by Jimenez to Firmino. I can just do it. Rashford’s injury is a bit of a bummer though, although if he’s not out for long I don’t think he’s worth ditching. City’s strikers would be first on my list if Pep would guarantee their playing time. Sadly, I think that’s a no.

    Still need to get rid of Gazzaniga but not sure it’ll happen this week.

    Thoughts on Firmino in for Jimenez? 1FT, £2m itb. Anything else floating your boat?

      I think only you can answer whether that move feels right this week and not next. You could well see Jimenez and Firmino scoring about the same this weekend.

      Only thing I would consider is the flexibility in having two FT next week incase plans change and all of a sudden Firmino isn’t an option for the DGW and Salah is.

      • Yes. Good points, as ever, GP. I guess I’m just aggrieved about not ditching Jimi to Ings a few weeks back when I tipped him in captain picks!

    • I did Jimenez to Ings. But I already have Taa, Mane, Salah and KdB. :p

    • Whats your plan Raz ? I’m benching him this week for Cantwell.

      • He’s playing. He’s either first or second striker.. that for a midfield is decent. If Rashford isn’t starting his chances go up. He should be involved in most goals. Also Uniteds fixtures after are very good. I could do him to Mahrez for a punt… but that would be chasing points and Mahrez might not even play.

        • Not sure his chances go up with Rashford out,especially against Liverpool but yeah feels odd benching him.No point doing a one week punt on Mahrez as you will want him back for Burnley.Think i’m gonna lose him for Salah though next week.

        • I see. Already have Taa, Salah and Mane. Him or Grealish are probably the first to go though.

        • Yeah actually considered losing Grealish instead, downgrading Tammy to Greenwood and switching formation.Will have another think about it after this weekends games.

      • Hold transfer.

        • I’d still prefer Ramsdale over Gazzzzzz personally. But both are doubtful. Ryan should be a good option. I had him from the start of the season..

        • Is Ramsdale deffo out for this GW?

        • Ramsdale was involved in vey light training so probably won’t start and will be on bench.

        • Thanks for letting me know, I’ve got a non playing sub keeper! Looks like il have to transfer Ramsdale out! Who’s the best option to transfer for?ive got £0.5m ITB!

    • How about Grealish to Cantwell this week then Alli and Tammy to Mane and Maupay/DCL? Would that work cash wise?

    • I’ve decided to go without a GK this week. Have 1 FT but will need it for the next round. It’s unlikely Ramsdale to get a CS even if he plays. So, that is like losing 2 points.

    • KDB is always a good choice. Even when he blanks, he’s never far away! Although you do have a huge choice there for captain!

    Who should I bring in for Richarlison? Can only think of Maddison or Silva as the best options.
