FF247 FPL Team GW23
Welcome to FF247 FPL Team GW23.
Our score of 65 in GW22 saw us record our first red arrow in seven weeks, despite us beating the average of 57. This is what a failed captain (Salah), a blanking goalkeeper (McCarthy) and failures on the part of Dallas and Targett (one point apiece) brings. Luckily for us everyone else delivered – the mandatory clean sheet for Dias, assists aplenty for Grealish, Gundogan, Bamford and Antonio while Bingo Bruno was the stand out with the full house of goal, assist(s) and clean sheet.
The red arrow takes us back to 967,981 but with 2 free transfers, a wildcard in hand and double game-weeks coming up we’re confident of a strong finish.
Our GW22 Result…
Let’s go see what was decided…
Our GW23 Transfer(s)
With two free transfers we’ve going big on the Burnley backline, buying Pope and Lowton for Forster and the out of favour Chilwell. This is mainly with an eye on their newly announced DGW in which they have fairly favourable fixtures. Both also come straight into our team this week as they welcome Brighton. We have kept McCarthy, not only for comedy value, but also because Saints are likely to have a couple of DGW’s of their own soon.
To confirm then we have SOLD Forster & Chilwell and BOUGHT Pope & Lowton
Captain – Bruno
Our captain is Bruno as we look to him to add to last week’s impressive tally. Our vice-captain is Antonio.

Was thinking: Romeu->Soucek, bench Jesus and go 3-5-2 and have 2 FT next week.
Thoughts please.
How about getting a player for the 24 double? I see you have faith in the
*Son
Little Red – true – not convinced with Fulham players…. Burnley – could do, hence rolling a FT. Have Man City players, so covered there. so would just be Everton (could be Jesus->DCL) and could bring in Burnley defender for KWP – good moves?
Burnley defender for KWP sounds good. Lowton or Mee.
KWP to a Burnley defender or Johnstone to Pope and save a FT.
So you wouldnt bring in Soucek, when he is on form, and against Fulham?
Rather I wouldn’t have Jesus on the bench against Liverpool.
But what are the chances of Aguero being back?
If I bring Lowton/Mee in for KWP, I would just be benching them then, or would you play them ahead of one of the other defenders I have?
Aguero is still not fit which Pep confirmed.
I’m suggesting bringing a Burnley player in which will help you next week when they have a double. Doesn’t necessarily have to start this week.
If you don’t like that then Johnstone to Pope and use him this week.
no, its a good suggestion GP – appreciate yours and Little Red’s help. :good:
Johnstone to Pope
and play, or bench?
Bench McCarthy but it’s more for next week
Thanks Smash
Evening all.
Duno who to start out of this lot
And got 2ft

Johnstone to Pope gives you a GK with a fair home fixture for this weekend and a decent little run including a DGW.
Rest is looking good. I fear for DCL being on the bench but many will say you have it right.
I agree with GP here. I’d go for Pope. As for the lineup it’s tough! I’d be fine leaving it as is but obviously DCL on the bench could hurt.
Cheers gp and mattx
I missed out on soucek points last week on the bench
Is Foden to gundogan a good move? Or cancelo to mee?
I wouldn’t touch Cancelo there.
Foden to Gundogan is probably solid enough.
:good:
+1 yeah I’d just sort out Foden.
Who would you prefer for this week Pope or Martinez? Just thinking whether to switch my reserve keeper to Pope now or wait.
Think I’d prefer Martinez for this week as I think Arsenal and Brighton both have good chances to score. But think Martinez might get more chances to get save points. It’s a close call though.
I’d prefer Pope though not a lot in it
Prefer Pope by just a bit.
Evening folks. Seems like I’m only getting the chance to do a weekly check in these days but at least it’s some time I get to spend with you fabulous people!
Which option is best here? Have an idea but would like your thoughts.
A. Johnstone to Pope
B. Salah to Son
C. Both A and B for a -4 hit.
Would you look to captain Son? And would you be planning to get Salah back later or go without for a bit?
I’d likely cap Son if I did bring him in. Right now it’s on Antonio. As for Salah I’m considering leaving him as I’ve started getting superstitious again. Basically hoping that not owning Liverpool players they will start firing again :wink2: would gladly sacrifice OR and MLs if Liverpool did well in real life!
B I think
Any love for the hit? I’m really torn between A and B. Last week my hit paid off so I doubt I’ll be lucky two weeks in a row!
Yeah I don’t mind it. Though I’m taking too many hits
Same here! In the last 5 weeks I’ve had hits every week bar one. Although one of those weeks was a -8 so really you could say I’ve had a hit every week for the last 5!
Considering WCing this week and BBing next week – 3 x Burnley, 3 x City, DCL and West Ham & Chelsea vs Sheff Utd & Newc respectively.
Will be working on it this evening to see if its viable but at first glance I much prefer the fixtures for GW24 than GW26 (even though GW26 has more fixtures).
On a similar theme. Would it not make more sense to wildcard in GW24 you could BB three Leeds players for double and have the GW26 info which is the advantage
Possibly Smash but I’ve looked at the variables for
GW26 and they’re not great. I’ll prob keep Bamford and then get 2 Leeds for 25 all being well.
Interesting
That’s interesting, Cookie! I hadn’t thought about that. I’ll have to create a team similar and see how it looks as I can’t imagine it right now.
Would you just go with the teams you mentioned so 3x City, 3 Burnley, DCL, 3x West Ham and 3 Chelsea or bring in others?
Probably focus on those Matt predominantly- likely have Bamford and Grealish.
Hmmm that is very interesting! You’ve got me thinking now as I was just planning on the 25/26 WC/BB which think most were.
Be interesting to see the WC Cookie.
