Welcome to FF247 FPL Team GW23.

Our score of 65 in GW22 saw us record our first red arrow in seven weeks, despite us beating the average of 57. This is what a failed captain (Salah), a blanking goalkeeper (McCarthy) and failures on the part of Dallas and Targett (one point apiece) brings. Luckily for us everyone else delivered – the mandatory clean sheet for Dias, assists aplenty for Grealish, Gundogan, Bamford and Antonio while Bingo Bruno was the stand out with the full house of goal, assist(s) and clean sheet.

The red arrow takes us back to 967,981 but with 2 free transfers, a wildcard in hand and double game-weeks coming up we’re confident of a strong finish.

Our GW22 Result…

Let’s go see what was decided…

Our GW23 Transfer(s)
With two free transfers we’ve going big on the Burnley backline, buying Pope and Lowton for Forster and the out of favour Chilwell. This is mainly with an eye on their newly announced DGW in which they have fairly favourable fixtures. Both also come straight into our team this week as they welcome Brighton. We have kept McCarthy, not only for comedy value, but also because Saints are likely to have a couple of DGW’s of their own soon.

To confirm then we have SOLD Forster & Chilwell and BOUGHT Pope & Lowton

Captain – Bruno
Our captain is Bruno as we look to him to add to last week’s impressive tally. Our vice-captain is Antonio.

Do people consider a Burnley defender is a better option than Dallas for the doubles?

    LD says:

What would you do here? 2FT 2.1 ITB. I could bring in a Chelsea defender for Robertson and play him ahead of Dallas, or just do the Forster to Pope move ahead of the double…

Play Stones or Digne? Already have Dias playing just not sure on the double up.

Would Luke Shaw be worth a transfer this weekend? He is on a good run if form and really starting to get those assists in.

Based on the advice above, should I go with Lewis and Nyland out for Pope and Dallas? Then perhaps next week look at an extra City player or Burnley defender, then the week after perhaps Saints? Of course would depend on any injuries/suspensions.

I think just one of the transfers will be sufficient, ideally the one you would play (if at all). That leaves 2 FT next week and more flexibility to react to whatever situation arises.

2FT and 0.4 ITB. Don’t want to waste a transfer, but unsure who to get in. Considering Burnley defender for James as unsure if he can nail down a spot.

I would do the burnley move.
& i would play coufal over one of city’s def. I’ve a feeling that pool will haul against them.

      • leeboy104 says:

Just after I posted I looked up the CS odds:
        Spurs 46 %
        Chelsea 44 %
        Manchester United 39 %
        Brighton 36 %
        Leicester 34 %
        Leeds 31 %
        West Ham 31 %
        Burnley 28 %
        Southampton 27 %
        Manchester City 25 %

and changed Stones to Coufal as you suggested. Chelsea have such good upcoming fixtures but their possible double looks horrendous: MUN and liv.

        • Shrivathsa says:

Would you want to swap James for Rudiger?

        • leeboy104 says:

I really like the look of Rudiger, seems to have nailed down his spot in a solid defence and is a bargain at 4.5. Silva’s injury might help confirm his spot for next couple of games. Their double is horrendous but their 5 fixtures either side of the double look great. Bit of an aerial threat too by all accounts.

People are getting in Burnely defenders for DGW, but you’d expect a Chelsea defender to score a similar points total.

        • inittowinit says:

Burnley aren’t as good in defence as their reputation suggests. Just running the stats through for the DGW fixtures article. They are ok but not great but any means.

Getting a Burnley defender in seems fine to me. Good stretch of games ahead. Hopefully a CS or two along the way and if not, well at least we failed with good intent.

Recent stats have been off a bit, but look at who they’ve been playing. Only recent CS was v Liverpool.
