FF247 FPL Team GW23
Welcome to FF247 FPL Team GW23.
Our score of 65 in GW22 saw us record our first red arrow in seven weeks, despite us beating the average of 57. This is what a failed captain (Salah), a blanking goalkeeper (McCarthy) and failures on the part of Dallas and Targett (one point apiece) brings. Luckily for us everyone else delivered – the mandatory clean sheet for Dias, assists aplenty for Grealish, Gundogan, Bamford and Antonio while Bingo Bruno was the stand out with the full house of goal, assist(s) and clean sheet.
The red arrow takes us back to 967,981 but with 2 free transfers, a wildcard in hand and double game-weeks coming up we’re confident of a strong finish.
Our GW22 Result…
Let’s go see what was decided…
Our GW23 Transfer(s)
With two free transfers we’ve going big on the Burnley backline, buying Pope and Lowton for Forster and the out of favour Chilwell. This is mainly with an eye on their newly announced DGW in which they have fairly favourable fixtures. Both also come straight into our team this week as they welcome Brighton. We have kept McCarthy, not only for comedy value, but also because Saints are likely to have a couple of DGW’s of their own soon.
To confirm then we have SOLD Forster & Chilwell and BOUGHT Pope & Lowton
Captain – Bruno
Our captain is Bruno as we look to him to add to last week’s impressive tally. Our vice-captain is Antonio.

Hello my friends. Exciting times are back.
When are you guys planning to play your Wildcard?
Which chips do you have left?
WC and BB.
And TC.
Same here. Looking to BB26, WC30. Saved a FT this week so have 2 FT going into GW24. Waiting to hear more about fixtures but plan to use FTs to get DGW26 players in.
GW29 will be rough with all the blanks, but will worry about that a but later.
Will play TC in one of the smaller DGWs, just waiting for the fixtures to come out, but TC doesn’t require planning so not worrying about it.
Depends on GW26 for me and how that looks for my current team. GW25 wildcard and bench boost in 26 is likely but if I’m ok set I might wildcard out of the bench boost. I will play free hit in the big blank and I think Spurs will get another double for TC
Cheers guys. Bit clear now. But, not sure who to play? What do you guys suggest? Robbo in for Maguire?
SO I have all the chips available. Idea is to play the WC for 25, BB for 26, TC in 24 or 27 for a city player and FH on the BGW 29(depending on the squad at that time)… Any other strategy anyone can recommend would be highly appreciated.
There are always numerous schools of thought.
Your plan seems fine to me. I’m thinking vaguely along the same lines. I may try to negotiate the BGW without the FH. Cookie above is doing something different. As is Leeboy. I like the cut of Leeboy’s jib. Others who’ve played their chips will be managing matters through transfers. Before the last set of DGW and BGW I was fairly sure I’d be using the FH for the DGW but in the end was happy enough with the side I assembled through traditional means.
In terms of the TC I may hold onto that into the 30s – keep it up my sleeve for a later DGW, should one materialise.
Make or break will be after 24 – to wildcard or not.
Hi Kushan,
I think it really comes down to your team. I think I have 8 “likely” DGW players for GW26. Before I had looked at that, I had it in my head to WC. My BB is gone so it doesnt make sense to WC now I feel.
Post your team up
So…..
for City’s doubles, we know its a Sat/Wed for DGW 24. That doesnt mean there wont be rotation but if they have a double in GW26, when will be second game likely be?
Not confirmed yet Dreamers although I understand that GW27 is a possibility.
Morning Cookie – as in their expected dgw would move from 26 to 27?
Dreamers,
No GW27 would be an additional DGW for City if confirmed.
DGW26 is fully expected just not yet confirmed. Will know more when this midweek’s Cup matches are decided.
Only then can they start making definite decisions.
Depends on the TV schedulers really. MNC v WOL in GW26 and MNC v SOT in GW27 could at the moment be played on any of the midweek days.
But, atm all of GW27 and GW28 are scheduled for Saturday and that will definitely change. If WOL, MNC or SOT regular weekend games are chosen for TV on Fri, Sun or Mon, that will limit the available days for the rescheduled games.
Anyone else toying with Gundogan cap this weekend?
Wotcha Burnsy.
In all honesty no, I never considered him which I guess is bizarre in itself as he is the in-form player playing a shoddy defence.
Haha, I wasn’t expecting this response from you both!
I’ve had 4 consecutive weeks of 3s and 4s on my captaincy from following the ‘top’ % chosen player on her & on the Scout. I’m even in two minds over giving it to Bamford! but Liverpool look so toothless & City so authoritative right now I might just bite the bullet!
Go for it Burnsy, as an owner I hope it works out great for you.
I just think it will be a tight game and despite their current defensive frailties, Liverpool still don’t concede many.
No. I just played it safe with Bruno. I hope it works out if you go for it.
Hey guys, just did Forster to Pope move. Still with 1Ft 2.1m itb. Should I leave it at that? Most likely will do Dier to Mee/Digne next week. Just a tad concern bout the bench as I think Dier will be dropped in place of Rodon. , Mitchell not playing and risky Pep rotations. Any thoughts?
Coys, I did exactly the same move and left the second FT for later.
With this heavy schedule some injuries are likely and best have it saved for that reason.
Hey Ivan thanks for the earlier suggestion and I’ve gone with you on the Pope move. Inclined to save and wait as well but just wondering if I needed some insurance for my bench :scratch_one-s_head:
coys, how about Mitchell to Rudiger to give you extra bench cover and set you up nicely for next week?
Thanks Cookie, I think I would’ve done this move if not for the DGW. Was thinking to use the remaining transfers for the DGW24/25 players
Fair enough coys, there are lots of good options this week.
Agree and interesting to see teams benching both city def and vice versa
Trying this new thing the kids are talking about, something with holding the transfer and such… Not sure I’m capable. But, good to go?
Might be more inclined to captain son you don’t get a much better fixture than wba home. Spurs didn’t look good the other night though
Cheers, thanks forgot about cap’n change :hunter:
Looks fine. Like you I’ve a Liverpool defender rotting on the bench. Unlike you I’ve started Soucek (for DCL).
I’m hoping to hang on in there this week. Some juicier gamesweeks ahead.
Best of luck.
Cheers Kralin, you too!
I really thought Trent had found some of his old form, but then came those sodding magpies and stole the show. And what a horrorshow it was! Might take him out for Mee or something :scratch_one-s_head:
