FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW23
Another decent week here, and yet again also one that could have been so much better; but for some fine margin decisions this week in both team & bench selection, and some much wider ones in weeks previous. To have Shaw with his 8 points sat behind Camarasa on the bench is gutting. To have Rashford not even in the squad, having owned him a few weeks back is baffling, but more on that later! As for those who we did bother to pick Fabianski (9) and Digne (12) did us proud, and Wan-B did us even prouder with his simple 4 points… 3 of them somehow coming in the form of bonus points despite conceding 2 goals in a defeat, go figure, Superman he truly is.
Captain Salah carried the can for our mids and forwards with a contribution of 22. It’s just as well he did as the other 6 managed 1 assist between them and not much else for a total of 16 between the sorry lot.
All in all this left us with 69 points, which was 20 above the average, and another overall green arrow which saw us jump nearly 10k to 35,665th, which is actually our highest rank so far this season. And with all of our chips in hand we are feeling fairly confident about a strong finish.
Last week’s result…
This week may present some challenges though as we own Son, who was obviously always earmarked for removal this week, but also TAA and Kane who have both now been ruled out long (ish) term. We do however have 2 free transfers and £1.6m in the bank, so let’s go see how we decided to utilise it all…
This week’s transfer decision…
… wasn’t exactly a picnic! Kids and candy shops spring to mind, especially with the money that releasing Kane and Son afforded us. Then again it’s not that often in FPL that you find yourself with twenty odd million and two free transfers to use on it. We could have had pretty much anyone we wanted, so you’d think it would be easy peasy. Left to ones own devices then yes it probably would be, ask five different blokes though and that complicates matters somewhat.
The key decision really was the Kane replacement. Rashford and Aubameyang were the prime candidates debated. The former presented a problem though as we already owned three Man United players, and thus sparked a debate as to how to rectify that particular situation. As an aside though, and before we continue, we should add that Aguero wasn’t actually mentioned once, and that’s despite one of the panel already taking a hit to bring him in and at least one other we know of seriously considering doing so!
It was boiled down to one of two options really;
Kane & Son out for Aubameyang & Sane… or
Kane, Son & Martial out for Rashford, Sane & Alli (for a -4)
The panel was so split that we even asked on site in the comments for opinions; and that came back just about as inconclusive too. This one literally came down to the wire with a split panel; two on each side and one with a completely different suggestion altogether (Kane & Martial for Rashford & Sane), but in all honesty nobody really had the stomach (or time) left for a third debate!
Ultimately, we went with… Kane & Son out for Aubameyang & Sane
We’d love to tell you why but we honestly can’t, it really could have gone either way. We get the feeling that had we not had the ‘three Man United’ issue that Rashford would probably have come in. Rejecting the ‘hit’ scenario was perhaps simply a fear that Martial would slap us in the face with two juicy home games ahead.
Fair to say your committee is now a bit ‘spent’, but never let it be said they don’t at least try!
Our Captain is Mo Salah
This one was at least a bit easier, in fact it was done and dusted in less than 5 seconds. Which probably tells you everything you need to know as to why.

afternoon everyone.
this is my team so far. wilson will be upgraded to someone (auba/aguero/firmino) later today. not sure on formation and whether snodgrass starts this weekend. should i go 4-4-2 or 3-5-2 ?
Think you have it correct as is mate!
cheers rosco. good luck with tomorrow. hope you smash em
Fingers crossed! Its gonna be bloody freezing, might have to put my top on!!
Ok right or wrong transfers are done.
Now the question is who should I bench?
Current thought is:
Fabianski
Digne Shaw DLuiz Robbo
Sane Pogba Salah Hazard
Rashford Arnie
Bench – Jimenez, Pereira, Westwood
@Otieno, I bench Arnie (he won’t play) and Luiz and start Pereira and Jimmy. But if you don’t want a defender and forward from the same game (some managers hate that), just start Luiz over Pereira.
+1
According to the Daily Mail Arnie is out of the squad. Not in the right frame of mind!
@BenDinnery
Pep on Aguero and Gabriel Jesus. “I am going to play one or both, I don’t know. There are many games and everyone is going to play a lot. We don’t know what will happen in the future.” #MCFC
How wonderfully unhelpful Pep!
Team talk spoiler alert that

Haha, that is peak Pep
Hi everyone,
2 FT, ,0.2ITB.
I am hesitating:
1- Auba, Son–>Rashford, Sané, 3ITB ;
2- Kamara, Son, Haz–>Rashford, Sané, Nasri/Pereyra (0.9/0.3 ITB).
Or some other idea?
Cheers!
At the moment your front 8 structure is correct (7 players and a cheap fallback; Kamara) I would keep this structure so in essence, I would keep Auba (as you will want him next week and certainly GW26-GW28) and just do Son and Kamara to a 4,5 mid and Rashford. Then use the money you bank to improve your defence next week.
Good advice from Rosco
Rosco can hear you, why are you talking like he is not in the room?
Was that a ‘get a room’ based comment!?
No, but I am sure Smash will appreciate that you envisioned that. :shake:
Damn right, tops and tails in a bubble bath, glass of bubbly, Sky Sports on and the dogs obviously 😉
Exactly that’s how we roll!
I propose a hot tub for the three of us.

Mind you, if we did it Cool Runnings style, there’s room for Mito too
Think Init be perfect for your bobsled team. He can push and would carry a lot of weight going down the track. Because between the other 3 there be very little weight, wouldn’t be surprised if your sled came to stop halfway without Init.
Very true. He does have a couple of inches even on Rosco (height wise, obviously) so offers good power to weight ratio all round.
Thanks a lot Rosco and Smash.
My moves were also to get some City coverage – but I know that this is not absolutely mandatory. And they were probably motivated by the fact that my patience with Haz is reaching its limit: I sold him before his 3 weeks 13-3-15 run, and bought him immediately after – to get small returns!
I think that I will do what you suggest. I am not sure that I will immediately invest the money in the defense though, I will have time to think about that!
Thanks again!
I’m in the same boat as you with Hazard, but I think I’ve accepted that the only way to make sure you have him for his hauls is to simply not sell him. It’s easy to move around your premium mids but you run the risk of never having the right one at the right time, something I’ve learned the hard way this season!
Jump in Swirls we’ve always got room for you my friend!
<3
I’m in, beans being eaten as we speak. Bubble bath on the way.
More than welcome
How come Aguero was not considered, especially since he was benched last game and is sure to start a plum fixture in his next game??
This is an interesting question, in particular since two of us, might end up moving Kane for Kun, I already did and Init is deliberating on it. Long story short, the Jesus brace scared off us a bit. I brought him in before the City game, so I didn’t have all the info with me before making that decision. It is a lot of money and besides Sala,h the most money we will spend on a player, so I think we want to be sure he will play and after the Jesus brace we are not sure he starts. Cue Auba on the bench and Kun starting now.
Hahahaha. I can only imagine the headache. Since the Kane injury my only replacement option seems to have been Aguero, however I have Sane already but City cover is essential. Auba does not have the needed quality around him in my opinion. I am still debating bringing Aguero in for Kane, it is going to come down to the wire!!
I did Kane to Aguero and so I probably wouldn’t do it, if I were you!
Trent :oogle:
Ahhh i’m 2 hours behind !
There will be plenty that will read your post and have it be the first time they have seen it.
