The Blame Game…
We could blame Unai Emery, we could blame the weather, we could blame twitter, we could even blame Aubameyang himself. We could blame whoever we like but the reality is that we are always liable to get caught with our pants down occasionally by doing transfers on a Thursday just in order to satisfy DeanLive and Mr Majeika and get a timely and sometimes useful article out there… (now there’s a blame thought!). We jest of course, it’s our choice to do this one early and it suits our schedule to do so, we simply have to hope that such bad luck is occasional rather than the norm, and to be fair we get away with it about 99% of the time so bitching about the 1% is a redundant waste of time.

GET OUT OF BED, GET ON THE PITCH AND DO WHAT YOU’RE PAID TO DO, YOU SICK, WEAK, SORRY EXCUSE FOR A MAN!!!

Ahem, apologies. And we were doing so well to hold it together and be mature about the situation there too!

The reality is that instead of enjoying Kun’s hat-trick and 17 points, which we would have had we waited until Friday and almost certainly not then done the transfer, what with more info at our finger tips, we got Digne and his ridiculous hair wafting in with 2 points. Although technically, according to the FPL site we replaced Auba with Camarasa, and his late show and assist, for 4 points. Which is a bit like that double substitution when they randomly pick who replaces whom. Either way we lost about 15 or 13 points on the deal, and who knows how many rank places. The only upside is that we almost certainly wouldn’t have captained him even if we had kept him.

Anyway, as you can probably tell this little episode didn’t irk us one bit…! We’d love to say it’s a lesson learned but it isn’t as it’s a lesson most of the panel already adhere to in terms of Friday transfers, we just don’t have that luxury with this team.

As for the rest and our overall performance we had precious little to cheer us up. Shaw got us a clean sheet, Son and Captain Salah a goal each and Pogba a brace. The rest got 4, 3, 2, 2, 2, 1 and 1. Our only solace was that we did somehow end up fielding a full 11, but as we’ve said before that phenom is somewhat overrated as we’d gladly take 5 or 6 over-performers rather than 11 duds. It meant we saw our first red arrow in eight weeks and we fell about 8k to 29,202nd despite posting a 59 which was still 2 above the average.

Last week’s result…

Before we get going on this weeks decision we should remind you that;
THIS WEEKS DEADLINE IS ON FRIDAY AT 6.45PM UK TIME

This week’s transfer decision…
The big plus side to our above faux pas is that we are now way ahead of the curve and possibly one transfer in front of most!

We go into this week with 1 free transfer and £0.4m in the bank. We have to have an eye on the newly formed blanks ahead in GW31 of course and perhaps a wee eye on the potential DGW’s.

More on planning ahead later though as we found ourselves teetering on the brink of having 10 players this week, potentially 11 if Camarasa made it, potentially 9 if he and Doherty perhaps didn’t. And all this assuming that the rest of the ‘fit and available’ ones actually play! As a result our main focus was simply getting another nailed on body in, and no we don’t mean Jesus. All eyes did however turn to a teammate of his in the shape of Sane. Given his recent marginalisation by Pep we felt it was time for him to leave.

His replacement Felipe Anderson was actually an easy and unanimous one to land on, perhaps it was as straightforward as seeing Fulham (H) next to his name this week. West Ham’s fixtures turn for the better in the weeks ahead, with next week being a notable blip in the trend. The fact that they do play in BGW31, and against similarly appetising opposition in the form of Huddersfield (H) in that one, definitely helps. We know he’s been a bit off the boil as of late but he is still essentially their best player, maybe Arnie aside, but at least we know when he’s fit and when he isn’t, which seems to be one step ahead of the relationship between Arnie and Pellegrini.

To confirm then; we are SELLING SANE & BUYING ANDERSON

Planning Ahead…
Given the consternation and confusion that seems to have risen on the boards from the upcoming blanks and doubles we felt it would be remiss of us not to touch on our thoughts and plans in relation to our team. The truth is that we are fairly relaxed about it all right now. Having a full set of chips in hand does help in that regard of course, but we also know that we need a plan of how to best utilise them. The prevailing attitude amongst the committee is that we will start planning properly as and when the DGW32 fixtures are actually confirmed. To do so prior seems a tad premature and it is also a good few weeks away yet.

That said, don’t take our laissez-faire approach to mean that we are not at least prepping for it all. As you will see below we have begun our planning by combining our team with our Fixture Tracker to analyse clearly how we look come BGW31 and DGW32. As it stands we seem to be in half decent shape to deal with both but something has to give along the way as it seems fairly clear you can’t cover both completely. In short, we shall take another view on this once those 32 bad boys are actually announced and keep you updated as to how we plan to proceed once we actually know ourselves!

Our Captain is Son, our vice is Aubameyang
Somewhat surprisingly Son got 3 of our 4 captain votes this week, Anderson took the other. Perhaps it’s just his now enduring consistency but we did expect Auba to get at least one, given his fixture. The latter did at least get more vice votes so he takes that consolation, and was possibly down voted as a result of having played a full 90 minutes in the Europa on Thursday. And producing very little in the process!

Our team in full…
