FF247 FPL Team GW8

Welcome to FF247 FPL Team GW8.

This is a democracy, goddamit!

Anyone who has followed the FF247 Site Team article over the years will know that we’ve tried to do the right thing and follow a democratic voting process. Tried being the operative word, as you’ll probably also know that that’s difficult when you have one particular ‘leader’ who has a tendency to simply ignore said process if he doesn’t necessarily agree with it. At least in our case it definitely isn’t fraud, it’s balls out dictatorship!

Let’s see how we got on last week…

EIGHT POINTS BELOW THE AVERAGE! After being five behind the average in GW6, BEFORE you count the -4 we took back then, we have found ourselves yet again on the wrong side of the line in GW7, scoring a wholly uninspiring 45 points this time out, having saved a transfer. Seems like we can’t do right for doing wrong at the moment. (For those who failed mathematics or have a really short reading memory, the average was 53).

But how did you get those 45 points I hear you laugh ask?

Not from our defence, three quarters of our midfield or one third of our attack would be the shrift answer.

Basically, Trent (2), Taylor (1), Konsa (ZERO), Bruno (2), Son (CAPTAIN! 4), Saint-Maximin (3), Jimenez (2) can all get in the bin.

Carrying the weight of the rest, we salute Salah with his goal and bonus (8), DCL with his goal and two bonus and Callum Wilson with two goals and THREE bonus. Our ‘team’ scored only three goals this entire weekend – in just two matches.

Quirky, annoying, laughable, shameful ‘typical of 2020’: you choose which!

We slide to 2,352,440 in the Overall Rankings and a drop of just over 400k.

Our GW7 Result…

Gameweek 8 presents itself with a 4PM FRIDAY DEADLINE so we must move fast and make some decisions.

Let’s go see what was decided…

Our GW8 Transfer(s)
We go into GW8 with 2 free transfers and £0.7m in the pot.

Kane seems like a must have this week.

We don’t have Kane.

Somehow.

We must get Kane, somehow.

And so came the first vote: Bruno would be the sacrificial lamb and he and Jimenez would make way for Grealish and Harry.

All seemed tickety-boo as this was agreed upon fairly swiftly. Democracy in action and all that.

That was until Cookie suddenly pitched up and demanded a -4 in addition to the above to get Bellerin. We aren’t privy to his bedroom walls (fortunately) but we can only assume they are currently plastered with posters of Hector given this vote and his love for him on this week’s Capo article. This would however be the same Cookie who took a -20 recently on his own team. Someone go check on Cookie please as he’s slowly losing the plot!

This is however where it all took a turn for the strange as the normally conservative Kop agreed with him on the hit.

The cavalry was called for and fortunately our normal ‘sensible’ approach was adhered to and the hit was averted.

At which point even Kop caught himself and wondered how he had fallen into the trap, citing possible fraudalent voting on his behalf: “Stop the Fraud” he said.

Our reply was: “We did, we voted against him!”

It was suggested that Cookie should have called for the voting to stop after his own one was cast but as poetic as that would have been that’s not how we roll here: we cast all of our votes on time and before the deadline. And count them up.

And then see if our ‘leader’ agrees…

For once, he did (probably because that’s what he voted for too), and so…

To confirm then we have SOLD Bruno & Jimenez and BOUGHT Grealish & Kane

Captain – Kane
Hardly a surprise here, we’d expect to see a silly majority have it on him, at the very least then we don’t lose (more) ground as a result.

Salah will wear the VC one. It should be Son but we are spreading our bets as one day soon a game will be called off last minute and we don’t want to be caught out with our pants down.

Our GW8 team in full…

Any love for a -4 for Podence to Grealish?

Could probably wait a week it’s just one of those I know I’d prefer him in.

    Afternoon all,

Awesome tips article, Kop, found it really useful when putting together my wildcard side! Always great to see what my fellow contributors reckon for the captain choice too!

Anyway, here’s what my team looks like on the wildcard with exactly £0 left in the bank. Your thoughts would be much appreciated smile

I’m still clueless here. Two free transfers so Saiss at least might as well go
