FF247 Fantasy Football Team Gameweek 3
Welcome to FF247 Fantasy Football Team Gameweek 3. Our good start didn’t last long. Just one game-week if you want specifics. After finishing GW1 with an impressive total of 86pts, GW2 brought us crashing back down to reality as we finished with just 35pts and a game-week rank of 3,402,911. If it hadn’t been for our United duo of de Gea & Lukaku we’d be stood in the corner wiping away the tears. With 18pts between them they accounted for just over 50% of our point’s total. The rest of our team were such a disappointment that they don’t even deserve a mention. So onto GW3 and our two free transfers…they’ll be needed!
The team in full
We have sold KdB & Kompany and bought Pogba & Alonso
Best laid plans and all that! The City boys get dumped unceremonously after just two GWs. Kompany may feel slightly hard done by but KdB has not yet brought his preseason form into the league and the lure of a United midfielder, both form wise and price wise, was too much for the committee to turn their back on. So Ginge has gone for the Ginge-wannabe, but we’ll be dabbing with the best of them. Now we very nearly decided to leave it there and carry over a free transfer for after the international break – that of course would be the normal, conservative move we would normally decide on – however, one bright spark suggested getting the most undefensive defender outside of Liverpool and after his Wembley brace, Alonso was voted in. Just. The two sensible committee members voted to hold, the two mavericks voted to get Alonso and spend, spend, spend and their bullying persuaded the final member to side with them.
At least the talk of treating Alonso as a midfielder does (subconsciously at least) make our midfield slightly less sh*t than it did before!
Our Captain is Harry Kane
No goals, two yellow cards, the August curse, but stats don’t lie. Or so we’re told. And Kane’s stats are pretty good – more shots in the box than anyone else in the league, hitting the woodwork three times already, it is felt that goals are imminent. And hopefully they are GW3 imminent. If Kane gets lost finding Wembley or fails to play for some reason, than the inform and popular Romelu Lukaku will wear the armband.

Good moves lads – so it’s AOA every week then?
Been a while since I’ve been here :O. Where is Potty and his crazy Predictions ???
I do miss Potty. His general craziness and his Predictions!! He had some helpers for some time but they have Kevin de Bruyned us, that is, they disappeared!!
Pancho/init/everyone else interested – this is what I got from FPL on the ‘hits taken before activating the Free Hit’ issue we were discussing a few weeks back!
Cut and dried then – it’s treated as a mini-wildcard.
Thanks DMC.
Interesting that DMC. I saw someone questioning it on twitter as they had played it but had already taken a hit prior to doing so. When their team reverted they had lost the Hit player but been charged for the -4 still. I can only assume they’ve noted that as a glitch and fixed it now from reading that.
Lawsuit?
” The case of Allan’s Allstars versus Fantasy Premier League will now be heard . . . “
I can’t even imagine why someone would have already played this chip!
Apparently it was by accident. Which is another warning in itself as they said you couldn’t cancel it like you can with the others. Not sure if that’s true but not trying it to find out!
It’s very easy to do – I nearly pressed the other day confirming a transfer. You have to be very careful.
If it’s not then it really shouldn’t be sat next to the others like that.
Many will play it by accident, I guarantee it.
DMC,
Ive done the chip in a trial team for just this purpose. We will see what happens once the deadline hits.
I’ll keep you all up to speed with it.
Ok Pancho! If it does annul any hits already taken as they say, then this could have another role which is to work a salvation board for those that had one or two hits and for some reason regret it at deadline time (late injuries, suspensions, one drink too many at the time of hitting…) and want to reverse them!
Pancho, see above! It is cancelable? Think I just made a new word up
I tried to cancel it on my phone but it wouldn’t let me so I think it isn’t cancelable (patent pending for Init).

I like those moves. Alonso’s double at Spurs was a warning to us all.
I’m persisting with KDB tomorrow and carrying the FT I think but your moves make your side looks solid.
Best of luck lads!
Apparently there was some underhandedness that went on in the voting. Something about a vote not being cast, but being counted, listen if anyone knows how to steal a vote it is a South American. 😉

So a South American dictatorship, no sorry democracy
Ok, I need someone to talk me out of playing my WC for this GW!
I don’t dislike my team (although I don’t feel too confident for this gw, given that many did feck all last time out) and generally would see the IB and august transfers deadline out but there a number of players that I believe will be must haves (Kane, Alonso, Richarlison) in the near future but they will be out of reach budget wise if I don’t move now (or they’ll force an unwanted downgrade in key positions).
I can’t get any of them without a hit in key positions (except Richard, of course) and I have already taken one last gw so don’t want to take another just now.
So it’s basically, WC now to strengthen it while I can or bite the bullet and save it for the IB (or in deed for a later time).
If anyone can be bothered, this is my team as is, the WC team and the head-to-head moves.
Should I go for it, or stay put?
Cheers

To be honest Cookies comments make complete sense and I agree with everything he said
DMC,
I truly don’t believe you need to wildcard. I looked at playing it myself and decided against it for a number of reasons:
Fixtures for a few clubs will change for the better around GW6/7 (ie around the next international break);
The transfer window remains open for another week and while your wildcard will cover that timeline, it won’t cover the short term implications of new players in or players sold – we don’t know what’s happening with the likes of Coutinho, Alexis, Ox, van Dijk, while Chelsea and Liverpool are looking to spend, City, United and Spurs could spend and Arsenal will have cash if Alexis or Ox goes. There are too many uncertainties for me.
Two weeks observations is hardly enough time to decide on wholesale changes.
Who seems a must now, may be replaced by other “musts” in 2/3/4 weeks.
That’s just me mate. On paper all the individual head-to-head transfers look good and make sense right now. But you know the situation can change very quickly in this game and my personal view is that while every one must make their own choice, those who play it now have either fcked up big time in selecting their opening squad (which you haven’t) or they’re just playing it as they’ve been bowled over by pressure that Player X must be owned now.
+1. Hold tight for now. The majority of your team is Utd, City, Spurs, Saints, all of whom should really go well this week (Saints being the uncertainty, and perhaps Utd won’t keep a CS). Provided Jesus and KDB turn up, you have a bunch of form players. The WC will be much more valuable once the window has closed as Cookie says.
It’s a marathon not a sprint!
Thank you Cookie – you are ruthlessly right I’m afraid. I’m now ashamed to even have considered it!! Seriously though, I guess I needed to read it. There’s no good reason to WC my team but the “pressure that Player X must be owned now” as you say. And, as you say, that’s not enough for a WC. Not at this time of the season anyway.
Cheers Pippin and Smash, you make good points too.
I’m now probably saving it, which basically says it all about the (no) need to WC!
Guys what’s the story with doucoure of Watford. Is he nailed on and is it worth bringing him in for Richie. Also I want to change kdb and Jesus but not sure whether to get Kane and Silva or eriksen and Kun. Thanks guys…what do you think.
Yes he should be nailed on. What’s the rationale for picking him in particular? I know he scored the other week but his past stats don’t suggest a flurry of goals.
As for the other I’d probably want Kane but the other combo is good too, mainly due to Erik.
Hey Initt. It would give me the money to complete the other transfers with .2 to spare. That and Richie hasn’t done a lot. I have Carroll on the bench to rotate with doucoure.
Ok, just wondered if you’d seen him play and been impressed or something. I saw the Liverpool game and a few highlights of others but can’t say he stood out. Looking at the other options at that price I’d maybe consider Can also.
Never thought of him actually. I’ll have another look. Cheers Initt
