FF247 Fantasy Football Team Gameweek 4
Welcome to FF247 Fantasy Football Team Gameweek 4. We scored 49 points in GW3, a miserly 6 above the average and we saw a relatively minor jump in the rankings as a result. All in all it was a bit of a miserable old GW though. 19 of our points came from just three players at the back and even two of our benched rearguard scored more than any of our midfielders or forwards, Firmino excepted. Our midfield was consistent, if nothing else, with three points each. Lukaku blanked but that was the least of our worries, given his ownership. Kane coming in as a 4 point captain was the real kick in the teeth. All in all it seemed fairly consistent with what most other managers experienced though so we aren’t panicking and playing our wildcard just yet. Just. More on that later though… We come into GW4 with £0.9 in the bank and 1 free transfer to play with. Here’s our team as it looked at the end of last week…

Transfer for GW4
The opening gambit in this weeks transfer discussions simply had a picture of the transfer page and the phrase “Painted ourselves into a corner then…” How apt when you look at that p*ss poor midfield! And how little we can actually do about it with just 1 free transfer and a paltry £0.9m in the bank. But hey, that’s what Alonso can do for you.
Small improvements were discussed, perhaps Brady in for Gross for example. Really, really small ‘improvements’. But that’s all you can discuss really unless major structural changes occur and that’s not going to happen without a wildcard realistically. Maybe that’s one for next week or even the week after then. Let’s see. As it stands we will be carrying 2 free transfers into next week as we decided that rather than making the said small changes we would ride it out this week, see what happens and reconvene with a pair in hand next week. Feel free to add your own puns to that last sentence.
Our Captain is … Romelu Lukaku
Kane and Firmino got a vote each but Lukaku came home with the spoils with three. Stoke away really can be a 50/50 fixture for any team on any given day. Given the relative difficulty of both other candidates fixtures though it is hardly surprising that Lukaku won as it simply feels like pushing against the most open door, out of a lot of stiff doors.

The team itself only really presented one main question this week which was Ince or Carroll. When asked to the committee the most persuasive argument cannot actually be repeated on here for fear of offending at least half of the population! But the premise was “Play Ince, that (person) owes us”. Yeah ok, stats should come into play here and we should present an argument for one or the other but sometimes you just have to pick one don’t you!
Davies being benched may raise an eyebrow but really he has the worst fixture out of our other defenders who aren’t called Alonso. The two who play have reasonably favourable home games, he has a tricky away one. Doesn’t matter what Alonso has, if you damage our midfield to that extent you’d better be ready to deliver 10 points each and every week!

Hey guys, I feel like that this could be a great GW to go with differential captain. I’m thinking between Brady and Alonso. On the other hand i have Lukaku, Kane and Mane from elite players whom i usually give an armband.
Any oppinions? Taking a risk or going with the big names ?

Hhahahha appreciate it man xD I think he should deliver against Palace at home so in my eyes he has bigger chances for a solid gw than most of so called “elite” players. Anyway, we’ll see…. cheers

Would appreciate thoughts on this team. Was thinking of taking out Lukaku for Morata and replace Ward Prowse with another mf. I have 2quid in the bank. Or just leaving this team as it is and saving my ft. Not a fan of taking hits so early!
Would save FT, United have been on fire and there is no reason to get rid of Lukaku for Morata and also you have no United cover in mf

LMAO! Thanks cookie! I know right. Not sure how I ended up with these lots. Do I take yank two of them out or? Taking out Ward prowse and milijoves leave me with 12.3! Who would you suggest? is it time to jump on Mooy bandwagon?
Waltine, in my view you need a biggish hitter in that midfield and you’ll need to release some cash from somewhere to do that. I would consider making a million or so out of selling Azpi or Valencia – Azpi to Naughton gets you 2mln for example. I like the Lukaku to Morata move but maybe not this week.
I would be really tempted to sell Azpi to Naughton and then sell JWP to Pogba or Mikhi which gives you United coverage and then look at maybe bringing Morata in for Lukaku in the future.
