FF247 Fantasy Football Team Gameweek 4
Welcome to FF247 Fantasy Football Team Gameweek 4. We scored 49 points in GW3, a miserly 6 above the average and we saw a relatively minor jump in the rankings as a result. All in all it was a bit of a miserable old GW though. 19 of our points came from just three players at the back and even two of our benched rearguard scored more than any of our midfielders or forwards, Firmino excepted. Our midfield was consistent, if nothing else, with three points each. Lukaku blanked but that was the least of our worries, given his ownership. Kane coming in as a 4 point captain was the real kick in the teeth. All in all it seemed fairly consistent with what most other managers experienced though so we aren’t panicking and playing our wildcard just yet. Just. More on that later though… We come into GW4 with £0.9 in the bank and 1 free transfer to play with. Here’s our team as it looked at the end of last week…

Transfer for GW4
The opening gambit in this weeks transfer discussions simply had a picture of the transfer page and the phrase “Painted ourselves into a corner then…” How apt when you look at that p*ss poor midfield! And how little we can actually do about it with just 1 free transfer and a paltry £0.9m in the bank. But hey, that’s what Alonso can do for you.
Small improvements were discussed, perhaps Brady in for Gross for example. Really, really small ‘improvements’. But that’s all you can discuss really unless major structural changes occur and that’s not going to happen without a wildcard realistically. Maybe that’s one for next week or even the week after then. Let’s see. As it stands we will be carrying 2 free transfers into next week as we decided that rather than making the said small changes we would ride it out this week, see what happens and reconvene with a pair in hand next week. Feel free to add your own puns to that last sentence.
Our Captain is … Romelu Lukaku
Kane and Firmino got a vote each but Lukaku came home with the spoils with three. Stoke away really can be a 50/50 fixture for any team on any given day. Given the relative difficulty of both other candidates fixtures though it is hardly surprising that Lukaku won as it simply feels like pushing against the most open door, out of a lot of stiff doors.

The team itself only really presented one main question this week which was Ince or Carroll. When asked to the committee the most persuasive argument cannot actually be repeated on here for fear of offending at least half of the population! But the premise was “Play Ince, that (person) owes us”. Yeah ok, stats should come into play here and we should present an argument for one or the other but sometimes you just have to pick one don’t you!
Davies being benched may raise an eyebrow but really he has the worst fixture out of our other defenders who aren’t called Alonso. The two who play have reasonably favourable home games, he has a tricky away one. Doesn’t matter what Alonso has, if you damage our midfield to that extent you’d better be ready to deliver 10 points each and every week!

If I had Chica this week I’d be seriously considering him. Yeah ok Huddersfield haven’t conceded but so what, do we now expect they won’t ever again?
As for Davies I think it’s the other players which dictate this for you, not him. In terms of CS’s you have to aim from the bottom up in terms of opposition and also weigh in home / away along that journey and play the percentages accordingly. He fares the worst of the 4 this week so I think you have it right as it is.
Hey Init, thanks for you input. You have convinced me into it. Chica captain!! Hopefully it works out. I can Wham scoring and chica looks most likely to do so. I would be surprised if Huddersfield kept a cs away from home again.

I’m in the process of buying in some big mids but can’t decide which ones! Oh and a Newcastle defender and can’t decide which one. Basically playing at both ends of the fantasy spectrum this evening

Milbs / Rosco – no point me milling over this on my own. You have to pick (dreadful though I know) a Newcastle defender for GW’s 5 & 6. Pick one please!
For me Legeune would be my pick and debating him on my WC, think he’ll be a BPS magnet!

Hi, I’ve been agonising over my wildcard. I really respect the opinions on this website, please share your thoughts, am I crazy to weaken my mid like this?
Obviously no Lukaku is a risk but I actually really like this team. The only thing your midfield is missing is Eriksen/Alli but you have Kane up top which should cover.
Only thing I would keep in mind is Hegazi may lose his spot when McAuley is back, but can be easily dropped to Naughton/Brighton/Burnley defence and rotated with Carroll/Chalobah.
Would Bertrand -> Cedric allow you to make any decent upgrades?

I think Hegazi is ok this week so save that transfer and the subsequent 0.5 for another rainy day.

I’d have Laca over Kane this week for starters. Probably even Chica over Lukaku.
Abit stupid I know but it’s a bet with a pal ? Hmm I like the lacazette pick over Kane, wouldn’t want chaca though lukaku has been brilliant. If I do Kane to lacazette I have 2.5m in the bank, where do I go from there? Thinking Carroll but no obvious upgrades

I wouldn’t panic about Hegazi unnecessarily but a move to Harry Maguire soon looks good.

Decent team.. but no pool cover worries me. Anyone of Eriksen/Alli can become Salah.
