FF247 FPL Team GW11
Welcome to FF247 FPL Team GW11
Tea or Dinner?
Clearing the weekly average by more than just a sliver of daylight was a refreshing change for us in GW10. We scored 57 points which was a full 13 above the average of 44. That’s more like it!
We had three tens, a nine and an eight among our lot and shoutouts go to Kevin de Bruyne, Jack Grealish and Jamie Vardy (all 10) – although JV9 needed the armband to achieve his – then onto Diogo Jota (9) and Ben Chilwell (8).
The rest, well the least said the better with no fewer than FIVE 2-pointers which at least was better than Scott Dann with his big fat zero.
We now look towards next week and the obvious Aston Villa/Newcastle issue which of course affects us too! We have Grealish and Targett missing for this game-week so how do we cope?
Well, with the confidence of a green arrow and a rise of 374,490 in the rankings, we welcome the challenge.
We now reside at 1,674,807 (yeah, great…) with eyes on the top 1 million our next target. What a season, and all that. With two free transfers and a bit of cash in hand (albeit just £0.2m) we should be ok to hurdle this quite easily, shouldn’t we……….
Our GW10 Result…
Let’s go see what was decided…
Our GW11 Transfer(s)
This wasn’t quite as straightforward as anticipated. In fact we were almost stumped at one point. After a few easy weeks in terms of decisions it was perhaps refreshing to finally have a debate on our hands. The good news was that we decided on next weeks moves. The bad news was that this weeks proved rather more difficult.
Rather than talk you through some 357 or so WhatsApp messages allow us to summarise the sequence of events:
Next weeks transfers were decided first, oddly. And not to throw in any spoilers for GW12 but Salah was in the mix, obviously.
Targett was then the target and either Dallas or a Saints defender were coming in. End of.
Until someone woke up and asked about the logic of that given that Dallas faces Chelsea and we already have a Saint in goal.
Plan B seemed to involve Vardy leaving. When he faces Sheffield United…. erm, what?! Suffice to say that was thrown out too.
Back to the drawing board.
Such was the lack of direction or focus another debate broke out instead about whether the evening meal was called tea or dinner. This one has history and dates back many years, with both Cookie and Init getting quite (inexplicably) passionate about it, both then and now. Apparently it’s tea in the north, and most definitely dinner in the ‘posher’ south. For two people who get along so well this is a bizarre dividing point, but seemingly one they are happy to come to blows over. And they did! We’d appreciate feedback on which one it is… we think.
Then an epiphany. Of sorts. JWP had been mentioned along the way and he suddenly became a person of interest again when Mahrez entered the equation. We already have KdB so this would be quite a bold and attacking move and probably rely on City doing Fulham 5-0, which to be fair is not beyond the realms of anyone’s imagination. But poor Ziyech, we barely knew thee.
It gained traction to the point of being passed by the committee. It was flowered up as an attacking stance. So let’s go with that narrative and see how it pans out!
All of which now ruins next weeks transfer plans!!!!
To confirm then we have SOLD Grealish and Ziyech & BOUGHT Ward-Prowse and Mahrez
Captain – KdB
Less confusion about this one, in fact none. We would imagine that most people who own him will come to the same conclusion.

Hi.all, some advice please on what to do. 2FT and 0.9 ITB.
A – Kane and Riedewald to Brewster and KDB. Long term move with City’s favourable fixture and Spurs having some tough matches coming up. Kane’s yellow flag is a worry but not having him this week vs Arsenal also scares me.
B – Grealish (or Ziyech) to Mahrez. Can’t afford a straight swap for KDB. I get a City player and keep Kane.
Forgot to add if I do option B, I would prefer to keep Grealish since I think he will return points in the long term.
B and keep the extra transfer for next week.
You reckon not getting KDB (who is more nailed on) a risk?
A it’s a long term thing
B.
Thanks all for the advice. I did Ziyech to Mahrez
I’m entirely undecided on Captain choice. Could be any from 6 or 7 decent options. And double Chelsea or double Saints at the back.
Any help?
Vardy I’d say. GTG
I’m in the same boat
I have mahrez Fernández and vardy..
I’m thinking mahrez
Mahrez – he’s got the form and the fixture.
Seriously at a loss on what to do here. 1FT, 0ITB, three players out and no MCI cover.:help:
What would you do?
Martinez > McCarthy is an obvious one. I would probably do Robertson > Walker and play 4-4-2
Go 3-4-3 and do Son -> Mahrez. You’ll have no bench or keeper, but c’est la vie.
Actually 3-4-3 wouldn’t work – 4-4-2 and hope Robbo plays.
Cheers both!
Had a bit of decision paralysis, so just went with McCarthy in goal and no hits.
Fingers crossed… Saw some speculation that both Salah and Robbo might not start
Does Masuaku seem to have limited minutes, after West Ham went to a back four against Villa for the 2nd half last week? Have a headache of him or Cancelo for this week
Masuaku’s played the majority of every game this season – presumably his removal was a tactical one. He should be fine to start this week.
Used my 2 FT+ a hit. 1.5 ITB
Should I take another hit to sort out the GK or Mitchell in case Cancelo doesn’t start :scratch_one-s_head:
Keep it as is imo, not many CS to dish around the past few weeks. Doubt it’ll change much this gw
Cheers Dane, I will resist the temptation :good:
I know Mahrez will do well but seriously tempted to move the armband on Bruno. His away stats are too good to ignore.
These are the points in his last 4 away games:
Brighton-12
Newcastle-11
Everton-17
Southampton-10
I’m doing Martinez to Mendy for a hit. Long term project.
Or Cancelo to Dias/Walker?
What to do? 1ft and some money in the bank…
Was thinking Martinet to Mendy for a hit, which is -2…
Greallish to Mahrez? Or? Are we certain Kane will play?
Team.
Was thinking of-8 before involving losing Son and Jane and getting Jesus and KdB.
I did Grealish/Kane to KDB/Bamford out of fear factor than anything else. Had C on Vardy all week.
I see a lot not wishing to change the keeper. I would. They just have not been secure of late so would not want him as my keeper going forward. Mendy is certainly a decent option given their performances although the fixtures are a bit harder. I have my eye on James as a double up if I ever stop firefighting.
Kane/Son – Kane has a good record v Arsenal. I think it comes down to how much you want KDB or not
Think I like the -8. Though Mendy is better than Martinez anyway it’s whether you want to spend that on a keeper. I think you might be right about the Villa fixture
I could also do-8 and replace Soon and Greallisj and get KdB and JwP instead? Means keeping .Kane…
I’m not a fan of JWP personally he’s playing quite deep
Not afraid Spurs will crush it tomorrow?
By the way everybody acts like the dgw of Villa wel be son? I think next year?
Villa have got two fixtures to get in at some point (so two DGWs for them). I’d imagine it would be in the New Year now – the fixtures are busy this month enough as it is.
Raz, get Mahrez and go GKless. Many will do the same. It’s not worth a hit for possibly 2 points return.
If not this week… Mends week surely surpass Mart8nez long term?
Raz, stop fiddling around, get Mendy for Steele and chill out. You will have two rotating GKs to play with 😉
+1
