FF247 FPL Team GW12
Welcome to FF247 FPL Team Gameweek 12
Gotta captain KDB, right?
And I quote…
“Captain – KdB
Less confusion about this one, in fact none. We would imagine that most people who own him will come to the same conclusion”
– FPL Site Team article GW11
We captained Vardy accidently – in fact, no one noticed until our h2h opponent let us know on site that our team captain was different from the published article.
Initial bursts of laughter gave way to headshakes, a little aroused suspicion flitted through the offices that we may have a rogue member within and then finally the acceptance and a dawning that we may have accidently struck gold here if KdB blanks. Perhaps this is the accidental kick-start our limping season needs?
Still, like a pack of ravenous wolves, we prepared to round up on the suspect. Who owned up before we could, to be fair to him, taking away all our power – by admitting that he took the screengrab but forgot to save the alterations. We win as a team and lose as a team and we will not be naming the culprit.
That’s fair innit?
Our performance
Somehow we managed to just scrape above the average for the week BY ONE POINT – our 63 eclipsing the 62 most normal folk got this week*
*GP got a net forty points on his personal team and should by announcing his retirement from FPL out of absolute embarrassment any time now.
It would be enough to say that if we didn’t have De Bruyne and three performing strikers we would be up an unpleasant smelling waterway without manual propelling apparatus.
De Bruyne: 14 points (NOT 28)
Vardy: 16 points (as captain)
Kane: 12 points
DCL: 6 points
So basically we lost 6 points on the captain debacle.
In fairness, JWP was just behind them with 5 (assist) and Mahrez with 4 (oddly, he blanked but got a BP).
The defence was dreadful.
We reside at 1,794,364, a red arrow slip of just shy of 120k places.
Our Gameweek 11 Result…
Over to Init then as we go see what was decided this week with 1 free transfer and £1.5m spare…
Our GW12 Transfer(s)
Yeah ok, whatever GP… :fuk:
I’d like to blame the pressures of life, perhaps coming home late on a Thursday night (after a very long day working in the busiest industry you can find at Christmas-time), perhaps a desire to see my kids for 10 minutes, perhaps a faint hope that a decision will have been made. But alas, no.
It’s pure incompetence on my part. I just didn’t press save. But it’s not the first time and I doubt it will be the last! Although I did front it up immediately, as GP says.
Anyway, onto this week’s pick.
After a few early and mild messages GP himself commented ‘Shambles!’. Forgive him, he’s new to this. Give him a few hours and he will surely see the pure madness that this decision making process can be.
And he did.
It’s difficult to summarise 300 odd messages in a paragraph but as you know we like to give you some sort of insight into the thought process so here goes some sort of (very) abridged time-line of events, in some sort of Cookie-esque diary fashion:
- 12pm Wednesday. Everyone is all set on some sort of plan to get Salah ahead of Fulham. Transfer and Capo seemingly nailed. Easy this.
- 10pm Wednesday. Salah just completed 90 minute needless minutes in a dead rubber.
- 10am Thursday. Kop and GP both go cold on him. Significant in that they are both Liverpool fans. Holding the transfer seems to be the decision.
- 10.33am Thursday (assume Thursday from now on as I’m sick of typing it!). Cookie wants a defender. Shock, horror etc.
- 11am. He’s being ignored but still pushing the defender agenda!
- 8pm Thursday. I return from work / the gym and ask if we are all done. And perhaps (now regrettably) pose an alternative. Which is simply a quick switch from KdB to Mane and back again in midweek to chase both Fulham and WBA.
- 8.01pm. Chaos ensues.
- 8.47pm. After a long shower if it would now seem that KWP, Vestergaard, Andy Robertson and TAA are all now being considered after Liverpool’s great run of games (Spurs aside) have suddenly been unearthed. As if this was new news, just released. Two guesses as to who instigated this flurry of defenders.
- 8.57pm. Someone finally cuts to the chase and offers up the 4 (semi) viable options for a vote:
1. Kilman to Vestergaard
2. KdB to Mane (and reverse it midweek)
3. DCL & Dann to Wilson & Robbo
4. Do nothing
- 9.30pm. I let this run its course for 30 minutes and we had definitive votes for 1, 3, 2, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4, 4, 1, 3, 4 and 1. Which is quite impressive given as there are only 5 of them. Even Trump wouldn’t struggle to have a field day with this lot.
- 9.45pm. Vote 3 (selling DCL for a hit) seems to be winning.
- 9.50pm. I veto 3, end of. We aren’t selling DCL unless someone else wants to front that up and write the article.
- 9.51pm. I’m back writing the article.
- 10pm. Saving the transfer gains traction, probably because nobody particularly fancies the risky Mane / KdB dance. (Or writing the article).
- 10.05pm. I try a last ditch attempt to convince them of the latter but there are no takers and they dig their heels in and vote for no transfer. And it’s usually me that is boring.
To confirm then we have held our transfer
Captain – Kane
I even offered up Kane (c) as a compromise to the Mane transfer but that didn’t work. With no idea if our one Liverpool asset (Jota) even starts Kane was the obvious default position. Vardy takes the vice role.

Good morning!
Good luck to the site team!
1 FT, 0.3 M ITB. The only way to get Salah is to take a hit and probably sacrifice 1 or 2 players, so probably not worth it. :scratch_one-s_head:
Also, what do you think about my starting XI and bench order?
Any help would be highly appreciated
All looks fine as you are.
Cheers init! I might roll for the first time this season 😯
I am between Son and Vardy for the armband but I think I will leave it as it is. I am tempted to play Podence but no idea who to bench.
Hi
Need your advise, not sure what to do. 2FT with 0ITB.
Grealish for Rodrguez if that works
Hi Smash
Im short of 0.1
Do you reckon Jota or JWP? For a long term?
Salah and a striker for Vardy and Rodriguez
Good luck to the site team and everyone.
Would you change the bench order here?
I’d bump Kilman up one. I’m debating whether to risk him over Coufal
Scared he could come on later in the game and play for 10 mins like last time.
Yeah I’ll see if Nuno says anything about formation
Couldn’t risk not having Salah so took a -4 robbo/Rodriguez out for Lewis/Salah. Hope it pays off!

Hello everyone – have been reading your comments and columns with great interest and have been trying to think of relevant things to say in reply, but am at a loss, so will abstain (Discretion apparently being the better part of valour!). Hope you are all fine. Had a great week last week, but this time in am looking at getting in our World Champion, Olivier Giroud, in the33 ridiculous ‘hokey kokey-style’ 3rd striker spot (I had Kane until a stupid last second before lockdown decision to change to Aguero a few weeks back, then a swap to Abraham last time to clear up cash for KDB, and now a gaping hole waiting to be filled!) – which is just a 3-4 GW experiment – to be replaced by a Watkins/Wilson/Ings/Adams/Antonio-type striker if Olivier goes all wrong. I know he’s alternating with Tammie, but I think he could be a good punt, with Chelsea in pretty good form. What the heck, I still got 92 points last week, even with Tammie’s meagre 1 point offering!
Stone the crows! What did I say was the better part of valour???
Kind regards all, AJ (Discretion is my middle name°W!!!
And my mastery of the the keyboard is astounding, with numbers replacing letters, funny signs replacing brackets, brackets replacing normal sentence structure – all disjointed and unhinged (very much unlike my state of mind!!!! )
I like the Giroud punt. He’s on fire
Thanks Smash! Above for taking the time to wade through my surplus comments! Cheers mate!
Oops – sorry, I meant ‘above all for taking the time to read…’!
Hope you have a good GW!
Morning all! Is this good to go? I’m worried about the bench options! Is it worth taking a -4 to deal with Kilman or Mitchell? 2.9 itb so plenty to play with! Does everything else look set up?
You could do with tidying up your defence but not for a -4.
Which defender would you recommend moving forward GP? I won’t take a hit this week but providing nothing else happens by the next gw, the defence is where I want to strengthen!
Probably a Southampton defender for Mitchell would be a good start.
