Welcome to FF247 FPL Team GW14

Lattes all round

Look up the word mediocre in a picture dictionary and you’ll find one of our team from GW13… at least there was none of the mayhem of recent game-weeks and we actually captained whom we said we would captain.

You know things haven’t gone well when your defence is the star of the show! Up top, our forwards combined for a grand total of 9pts. Our midfield trio weighed in with a staggering 13pts, which included our captain KdB and new signing Jack Grealish. At the back, Coufal picked up a clean sheet and two baps, Targett a clean sheet, Chilwell an assist and a bap. Dann (who came off the bench for Mahrez) and McCarthy should just go play in midfield or up top.

All this saw us score a whopping 46pts, four above the average which allowed us to register back to back clean sheets for the first time since GW5, and we now sit in 1,627,496th place.

That’s enough about GW13. It’s time to get serious, we have two free transfers burning a hole in someone’s pocket and we now have BGW18 and DGW19 to build towards. With that in mind, it’s over to the committee…

Our GW14 Transfer(s)

It all started off in quite a sedate manner…

Kop opened the meeting by asking if anyone had any thoughts on transfers. Init responded with an extremely sensible suggestion of replacing with Kilman with a Leicester defender with DGW19 in mind. The next thing you know, Cookie barrels into the office and suggests selling Vardy & Mahrez for Salah & Bamford. I think he’d been on the mulled wine! Cookie’s Colombian partner in crime then weighs in with support and starts waffling on about tea & latte. Unsurprisingly, Floydeth is also in favour of these moves. Cookie only needed one more vote to make this happen… surely it couldn’t?

The next thing you know, Init, GP & Kop are on board. It’s really happening. Cookie & Mito have finally gotten one over the line. As GP said, “This season is batshit nuts”.

Just a word on the blank and double GW’s in 18 & 19, given as we touched on them above. Having ran through a number of scenarios the consensus at the moment seems to be that we will play our Free Hit Chip in 18 and possibly our Bench Boost Chip in 19. This means building a squad between now and then to do so. Which rather flies in the face of our eventual transfer decision this week! But we can’t just put everything into 19 as we also need to score points in 14. And 15. And 16. And…. you get the point.

To confirm then we have SOLD Riyadh Mahrez & Jamie Vardy and BOUGHT Mo Salah & Patrick Bamford

Captain – Harry Kane

Unlike last week, our captain decision was not a unanimous decision. Kane took the vote by 3 to 2 over Salah. It goes without saying that our vice-captain will be Salah.

    • Minamino isn’t good enough. So, even if Salah doesn’t start I’d expect him to come on.

        • That’s why I have commented on it twice now, because it is totally out of character. I’ve no particular issue with it but I have a feel for what is the norm and what isn’t, and this isn’t the norm for you.

          As long as you are aware of it yourself then I’ll hold off calling in The Samaratins for a bit.

          Although perhaps I was too flippantly dismissive of the shoelaces comments, assuming it was all in jest.

  2. There seems to be an exodus of Vardy, am I missing something?

    • Leicester’s fixtures are toughening up whilst Spurs fixtures are easing slightly.

      I did the Vardy to Kane transfer fir this game week.

    • Just seems to be the chosen makeweight for other moves is all. Can’t say much as I did it myself last week, albeit reluctantly. There will be a week or so when it bites I’m sure as he’s capable of big returns at a moments notice.

    • That’s what I though! He is also normally pretty good against the top teams. As my defence needs sorting more than anything I have no option but to keep him!

    I wanted to bring Salah but there are rumors circulating about him being rested.
    Any ideas?

    • Go to bed and forget about him?

      • Great shout but I am traveling atm, so no beds around. Other ideas :laugh2:

    • You might need my shoelaces if you end up bringing in Salah and he is a no show.

      What about Vardy to Kane for this game week?

      You may want to tidy up Mitchell for a regular playing defender at some point.

      If Salah is rested then you can then bring him in at home to West Brom for KdB for the Boxing Day fixtures.

        I was actually considering those scenarios:
        1) Vardy and KdB to Kane and Salah
        2) Vardy and Podence to Brewster and Salah
        3) Vardy, Podence & Chilwell to Bamford, Salah, Dier [(or similar) for a -4 hit].
        I will sleep on it and will reassess tomorrow morning.

          Love option 1.

          If Salah does indeed become a potential no show then just Vardy to Kane.

          Save the transfer and bring Salah in with one if your two free transfers for the next game week..

          I don’t want to sell KDB but I just can’t find a way to bring Salah in without sacrificing him. I will check the news in the morning and go from there!

    • If Salah is your preferred captain choice then keep the armband on him.

      If I had all three then I would have the vice armband on Bruno.

      I only have Kane so that is who I am captaining.

    We normally ask the writers who they are captaining and post it at the end of the Capo article but we aren’t doing one this week so let’s get a feel from the community.
