FF247 FPL Team GW14
Welcome to FF247 FPL Team GW14
Lattes all round
Look up the word mediocre in a picture dictionary and you’ll find one of our team from GW13… at least there was none of the mayhem of recent game-weeks and we actually captained whom we said we would captain.
You know things haven’t gone well when your defence is the star of the show! Up top, our forwards combined for a grand total of 9pts. Our midfield trio weighed in with a staggering 13pts, which included our captain KdB and new signing Jack Grealish. At the back, Coufal picked up a clean sheet and two baps, Targett a clean sheet, Chilwell an assist and a bap. Dann (who came off the bench for Mahrez) and McCarthy should just go play in midfield or up top.
All this saw us score a whopping 46pts, four above the average which allowed us to register back to back clean sheets for the first time since GW5, and we now sit in 1,627,496th place.
That’s enough about GW13. It’s time to get serious, we have two free transfers burning a hole in someone’s pocket and we now have BGW18 and DGW19 to build towards. With that in mind, it’s over to the committee…
Our GW13 Result…
Let’s go see what was decided this week with our 2 free transfers and £0.4m spare.
Our GW14 Transfer(s)
It all started off in quite a sedate manner…
Kop opened the meeting by asking if anyone had any thoughts on transfers. Init responded with an extremely sensible suggestion of replacing with Kilman with a Leicester defender with DGW19 in mind. The next thing you know, Cookie barrels into the office and suggests selling Vardy & Mahrez for Salah & Bamford. I think he’d been on the mulled wine! Cookie’s Colombian partner in crime then weighs in with support and starts waffling on about tea & latte. Unsurprisingly, Floydeth is also in favour of these moves. Cookie only needed one more vote to make this happen… surely it couldn’t?
The next thing you know, Init, GP & Kop are on board. It’s really happening. Cookie & Mito have finally gotten one over the line. As GP said, “This season is batshit nuts”.
Just a word on the blank and double GW’s in 18 & 19, given as we touched on them above. Having ran through a number of scenarios the consensus at the moment seems to be that we will play our Free Hit Chip in 18 and possibly our Bench Boost Chip in 19. This means building a squad between now and then to do so. Which rather flies in the face of our eventual transfer decision this week! But we can’t just put everything into 19 as we also need to score points in 14. And 15. And 16. And…. you get the point.
To confirm then we have SOLD Riyadh Mahrez & Jamie Vardy and BOUGHT Mo Salah & Patrick Bamford
Captain – Harry Kane
Unlike last week, our captain decision was not a unanimous decision. Kane took the vote by 3 to 2 over Salah. It goes without saying that our vice-captain will be Salah.

Morning this is me. Saving my transfer so it can’t bite me on the bum. With Boly being a major doubt and Wolves winning after going back to three at the back I’m hoping Kilman gets a start
Nice 4-3-3 that Smash.
I’ve got Kilman coming on if Konsa doesn’t play (yellow-flagged with an illness).
Worried for Kilman’s overall game time, though.
I’d heard Konsa had Covid – don’t know how true that is, but it would theoretically affect his return time (then again, Salah just breezed back in, so who knows!)
Looking great, Smash! I’m with you in the Kilman Krew!
Looks good to go Smash.
Have I got this right – Lamptey over Adams?
I think so Cookie. He is a hard player to own
More chance of a CS from Lamptey, I reckon – so yes .
I’m playing Bissouma over Bowen (on purpose too!) in a hope he’s involved for a goal/assist against SHU.
I would play Adams over Lamps meself.
Agree.
I’d play Adams, myself. If Sheffield United do score, then that’s probably it, whereas Adams could well get something (put it this way, I wouldn’t be convinced Man City keep a clean sheet)
Adams???
Play Adams
I think you have it right
Ohhhh a split vote….interesting thank you all.
My thinking on Lamptey is that due to the nature of both oppositions, Lamptey is likely to attack almost as much as Adam. Adams is unlikely to haul. Brighton are top of the clean sheet odds this week.
See a lot going Bruno for captain over KDB.
In two minds myself.
You have the openness of Leeds (why did I buy Meslier….) v the fact Bruno has only done well at home twice (one haul ).
And then KDB
Blanked really the last two gw’s, City are not playing well and gone more defensive
Moving the C from Vardy a couple of weeks ago due to stats still burns but I never really had it on Bruno.
What is your rationale for one over the other?
City are not converting the chances KdB makes and I think I’m correct in saying he has no open play goals all season.
Vs
Bruno at the heart of much of what United do and the game vs Leeds is expected to see both teams attacking and hopefully lots of chances.
That’s the rationale. Doesn’t make KdB a bad pick, the quality is there and he could haul vs anyone.
cheers Cookie. Have it on Bruno now but cthat could change
Wish everyone good luck. Captaining Mo.
Bench order correcto?
I’d read comments 25 and 36.1 first and then decide.
It pays to catch up!
Yeah, I’d captain Bruno or even Son just to be on the safe side
LRL – keeping to the Salah cappo decision?
…asking for a friend  :wink2:
Yes I am.
Still not a 100% but heavily leaning towards it too.
There’s seven or eight days to their next game, feels odd to rest him now.
Odd, just have read other posts. I am changing to Bruno. I think it’s the best best.
What say you?
If there is major doubt that he starts, is it worth the risk of letting him carry the armband?
Hi Gear,
After reading posts on this and other sites including Twitter feeds, I have gone for Bruno.
Will keep him, but move to Kane. Can’t seem to find a decent way of getting Bruno.
Good luck then Odd Dane. Thinks not looking good for Mo today but a must have and cappo option next game.
I think that’s wise
Hey guys, some fine tuning needed
1. Which of the 4mil gk to come in for Steer? Steele, Forster, Verrips or Cock-fella?
2. Which 3 defenders to play?
3. Bench order?
1. Forster
2. Chilwell and Lamptey yes, Dias and Lewis are a coin toss as I’m not convinced either will keep a clean sheet
3. Bench order is fine
(Extra)4. Just be careful about captaining Salah if the rumours flying about this morning are true
Agree, 1-3. Not sure about 4(haven’t a clue).
Thanks for your thoughts Swirly! Would’ve gone with Forster as well as I’ve just checked the injury records of the 1st choice gk. Was planning to capt Bruno all along just haven’t made the changes yet and will just switch the VC to Kane instead of Salah given the rumors. Best of luck!
Yeah, I have Mccarthy and have Forster as my goalkeeper sub as it’ll only be one of those two as the other guy is out.
Best of luck to you too, bud. As I have Kane as captain and brought in Son this week, I’m wishing your boys the best too!
Morning all,
This is my current squad and as you can see I have 2 FT’s. I’m WCing in GW16 so I just need to use my FT’s to play the next 2 GW’s. With that in mind my plan is to sell Vardy & Mitchell which will leave me with 14.5m to spend on a forward & a defender. Who do I go with for 2 GW’s?
Robbo and Ollie Watkins?
Cheers GP. I’ve been leaning towards Robbo. I’m not so sure about Watkins, he’s got the fixtures but not the form. I’ve been considering Wilson or Bamford.
Certainly true. I’m just coming at this from the punt for two weeks angle – West Brom and Palace aren’t ‘on paper’ bad fixtures for a punt.
Bamford of the other two. I reckon you may keep him even after the WC. He’s fantastic.
Yeah, I’d go with Robbo and then one of Bamford or Wilson.
Cheers boys
