The rank is an embarrassment, and that’s coming from me…

OK so our lyrical talents need a little brushing up but so does our overall rank in all honesty. Plodding along at just under the 2M mark at Christmas. We feel we are really yet to truly start this season. A drop of 400k places and of course the customary red arrow.

We reside at 1,964,141 to be exact and to appease those who like everything on exact record.

We scored 53 points in GW14 which was 7 points below the average. If it was not for Mo Salah (eventually), and Jack Grealish scoring us 16 and 10 respectively, then we shudder to think how we would have looked.

Fair enough, Matt Targett of Villa secured 6 points for his clean sheet and KDB and DCL had an assist each but the rest were blankers (‘blankers’ I said).

So ahead of a busy few days as we select our Christmas food supplies and wrap the last of the presents, we are required to work out how we approach the Boxing Day FPL deadline.

We have one Free Transfer ahead of this week and a skinny £0.3m in the bank. Oh, and potentially a Chilwell injury to consider.

Tis’ the season… (to find a quiet corner and nail a Baileys or six).

Our GW15 Transfer(s)
Bruno and Chilwell dominated the initial thinking here. One probably needing to arrive and the other probably needing to depart. With neither being French this should have been straightforward, ish. But then our BGW18 / DGW19 plans resurfaced. To reiterate / remind you: we (sort of) decided that we would Free Hit in the former and Bench Boost in the latter. Meaning we would need to build towards 19. A gentle discussion about the merits of a cheap John Stones punt or an episode of ‘FF247 does Dallas’ ensued but it was all soon interrupted when Cookie bundled into the office and clearly had a fair bit to get off his chest, and boy did he unload…

Maybe the in-laws had just arrived (we shall discover more on Christmas Day when we release his latest Diary edition!) or perhaps he simply had a point.

Most mere mortals would be quaking in their boots at this point. The Daddy of FF247 finally losing his sh*t with us all because of our abject performance, etc.

Errrrrrmmmmmm, no…. our teflon panel, all sporting their well worn ‘been there, seen it, done it’ t-shirts, barely glanced up. And cracked on with the meeting.

Bruno was still a thorn in the side, or not as it so happened. Acquiring him was becoming problematic, certainly in relation to the 18/19 plans. Kane or KdB would have to leave and neither of those things were deemed particularly desirable this week. Bruno would have to wait. As would all others apparently as we slowly came to the realisation that saving a transfer this week was probably the best move all round, albeit understanding that we have to rely on either Dann or Kilman to turn up for their 1 point cameo.

Understandably this particular decision was less complicated. West Brom at home after a ‘rest’, in which he still managed two goals and an assist. Say no more.
