Most of us initially will have got into fantasy football through work or friends leagues. Nothing wrong with that, but to really challenge yourself, how about you test your mettle against other Fantasy Football 247 regulars?
Season and Monthly League winners will be awarded a place in our Hall Of Fame – more on that to follow!
The Overall Members League (full season)
With a solid 85 points, Barntons Bashers retain their top position in the main league after GW16. Holding a global ranking of 1,473 and with 1,078 points, they are having a great season, and we are glad to have them setting the bar in our league. Herewegoagain are close behind having moved up to second spot with 1,074 points, and only a further 2 points back, third spot is occupied by Shane-PAIN FC on 1,072 points. New entrant, Robin Van Pricey, are straight in at fourth spot with 1,068 pts, having delivered an impressive 97 points this game week – the highest score of this week’s top 10. James101 make up the top 5, with 1,062 points.
A mere 14 points behind are a 3 man chasing pack, containing second season wonder Michu’s Grassy Ass, and two very experienced managers, Powerful Potty Fc and Cookie’s Monsters, all on 1,048 points. Site regular, Milk and Busquets, follows 4 points off, on 1,044 points, with Norfulk-in-chance closing out our top ten on 1,039. Other notable movers this week include the perhaps misnamed duo, Not so SPECIAL ones and Real Morbid, who both managed to score 103 points, almost double the game-week average of 55 points, moving up to 24th and 31st spots respectively. And no, no Potty Prizes will be awarded for guessing who they captained!
The Monthly League
In top spot at the mid-month point is X Treme, on a very impressive 275 points for the month, including 91 for this game-week. The team’s overall ranking isn’t so high as yet, but with this kind of performance and a team value of £110m we feel that’s going to change fast. In second spot, on 268 points for the month are The Untouchables. Falling to third spot, but only 5 points behind, Killer instincts delivered 263 points in December to date. In fourth spot, on 261 points, are our season league leaders, Barntons Bashers, and Real Morbid rise to fifth on 254 points, lifted by their outstanding game-week.
The Greatest FC enter our rankings at 6, narrowly missing out on a ton, scoring 99 points (unlucky!). In 7th spot this month is James101, with Pimp my Side in eighth spot, at 247 points. Closing out our top ten are Inter ma’nan and Monkeys Nuts.
Many thanks to elleffcee for working out the monthly table – you may notice a slight difference in a couple of the rankings, this is because the monthly charts that are automatically generated do not take all hits into account – clearly these should be factored in to show who’s really performing best.

NIN – I know, I’ll be patient with him. And I am going for him, for sure, but I’ll try to make the hit later, just before his price rises. I have yet to decide if I’m going to ditch Arnautovic or Amalfitano. Amalfi’s price is falling quicker so prob it has to be him.
Albertini – Cool,i think i’d sell Amalfitano too.
Yes, probably it’ll be him, also with the new manager he can loose his place and Arnie is playing quite upfront and can always score one odd goal or provide an assist.
Well just sold Aguero and Shelvey for Negredo and Theo. Next week it will be Terry for Merts and possibly a sideways move from Nasri to Silva.

A serious question (no, really): is a 12 point hit EVER worth it? Basically, the plan (in view of Aguero’s injury) is: (i) to beef up the midfield and play 3-5-2; (ii) to take advantage of price rises over the next 3 weeks ahead of January WC: and (iii) to be ready for the Cup which starts next week? Are these three motives enough to justify a -12?

Bacuna -> Walcott
Aguero -> Chamakh
Nasri -> Yaya
Basically, as I see things at the moment: (i) I’m descending rapidly down the overall ladder; (ii) my main goal in my first FF season is to win my mini-league (about 40 points ahead and have led since the opening whistle) and to do well in the Cup; and (iii) hell, why not shake things up a bit???
It would leave me with the following starting XI:

blue_moon – Absolutely not mate haha,unless you have an injury crisis (No..just Aguero doesn’t count!! hah!) or there’s a massive DGW ahead then a 12 hit is bad every time,i was chatting with Mito earlier and he worked out that with my 93k rank,a -4 hit alone will sink me to roughly 105k..that’s just a 4 hit, you could easily lose 40k in rank before a ball has been kicked and there isn’t much to gain it back during a flat week,my advice would be to take this idea..put it in a little box,burn it,bury it and plant a tree over it!!Never to be seen again hahah!!!
NIN – ROFL, great piece. I responded to innit above. Feel like I want to shake it up a bit. Rookie error no doubt, but boy it feels good (rest assured I haven’t pressed “confirm” yet)
blue_moon – We have a wildcard in two weeks mate,you can do it for free then,if price changes go against you then maybe take a 4 hit in the mean time to get the ball rolling and then finish your squad with your JWC,happy days..

look at it this way,lets say 2 of those transfers fail,by that i mean the player sold does better than the player purchased,your 12 hit is now starting to look more like 20ish ya know?? A 40 point lead in your ML isn’t a huge lead,but it’s comfortable,be careful not to throw it away in one week,16 weeks work gone in one 12 hit..it’s very possible,i’ve made some atrocious clangers down the years,we all have haha.

init – Yeah i’m good thanks for asking,no complaints thankfully.Yeah it would be good to see you around more,while you’re here,what say you for a system change in the new year,i’m toying with the idea of going to a 3-5-2 set up with a monster midfield..something along the lines of Walcott-Silva-Hazard-Ramsey-Mirallas with Suarez and Negredo/Rooney/Lukaku up top??

my wife has a team (I assist a lot) that is ranked second in the world in the team value. 115.7mil. made lots of trades but didn’t care as the only thought was to do well in the cup. Making final adjustments to the Cash Cows this week to be ready for GW18 start.
People has really reacted to Aguero’s absence! Kun’s on -216.8%, while Negredo is on 227% and Rooney is on 266%! Does that mean they will rise/fall by 0.2?

Veer – No mate,it doesn’t,as BM says a 0.1m drop/rise is the max for a single day..i expect Aguero to reach his value cap for the next 3 or 4 weeks,which would mean a total drop of 0.9m-1.2m in that time, with Negredo rising similarly..maybe 0.8m-1.2m region.
Is the most a player can rise/fall in a week 0.3?

Hey NIN. Yeah good to be back man. How’s everything? FPL was such a downfall while I was away, holy jeepers.
M&B – Yeah i’m good thanks,it has been a heavy scoring period that’s for sure,if i remember correctly you’re still around the 10/11k mark though so you’re fine,i’m nearly outside 100k..probably will be after this week’s games..whoopsie haha.
Yeah I went from highest top 2000 down to the top 10000 so I shouldn’t complain too much, but still a huge drop! Now the whole Aguero stiuation has made me contemplate my second 4point hit of the season so close to the Jan WC though.

M&B – Yep,you’re in good shape mate to be honest,you’ll have more time now you’re back home so you should be fine.As for my lot..well….a combination of not getting Suarez&Aguero early enough,some bad captain choices and John fucking Terry haha, i’m just hanging in the top 100k so it hasn’t been a total catastrophe,i plan to use my JWC as early as possible to plug the leaks i have.
Haha I’m sitting with Terry as well. He’s been rather useless ever since I brought him in! Yes, the Suarez / Kun bus was a must, I’m afraid. I’m considering a Aguero + Sessegnon -> Negrado / Lukaku / Jay Rod + Hazard / Wally switch for a -4 pointer.
He’s been a disaster mate,a few goals though which have been timely when they came but still,not good enough.Those sound like good moves,just had a look at your squad,it’s hard to say which combination will work best for you as you have City,Chelsea,Arsenal and Everton covered already..maybe Negredo&Walcott would fit the best..it’s very hard to call though..
I was thinking the Hazard / Lukaku one actually considering I have no Chelsea or Everton attacking players.. But then again, Negrado could step into the shoes of Kun and dominate and Wally was gold last season. lol

Great read James, didn’t realize i was on the top spot for the manager of the month lol.. oh well its my first season had some beginner issues, lost about 132 in transfers in the first few weeks(didn’t think it would really affect the ranking), captaining goalkeepers, not logging on for 3 weeks straight & the list goes on..pisses me off everytime i look at my game week history lol
Abood, you had an amazing week! I have a really stupid gameweek history, my first GW was a really bad team, so i played my WC in the second GW, and took a 24 point hit in the 4th GW!!
Not doing so bad now though!!!! Fortune favours the brave (sometimes).
