Fantasy Football League Round-up

FF247 League Updates GW20 FPL Fantasy Premier League

league-codes-banner-002

As the taste of turkey fades, the Yuletide mist dissipates, and we come to terms with the damage we’ve done to our wallets, our waistlines, and in some cases our reputations…

Welcome to our FantasyFootball 247 Leagues round up – including our first Monthly Hall of Fame inductee!

The Season League

Well, a rapid and at times fairly crazy few game weeks have passed since we last checked in on our leader board, (a mere two real world weeks ago!) but some things in life can be relied upon. We’re not referring to Potty’s fleeting relationship with reality, nor the fact that Mito may be the most connected man alive, but to our league leader. Barntons Bashers hold on to their top position in our main league after GW20. Now ranked 62 globally(!) with 1,349 points, it’s difficult for any of us to feel bad about being “second best” to this powerhouse of a team. In fact, with a launchpad such as this, at this stage of the season, dare we say anything is possible…? But let’s not jinx one of our board regulars!

Moving up from fifth to second spot, with 1,312 points, and somehow now at 835 in the global ranks, is James101. Just 13 points further back, rising five places to third spot, our own Cookie on 1,299 points leads a group of 3 teams within 3 points of each other. Those being Robin Van Pricey, still at forth, and The knights of ni a new entrant to our top ten in fifth place.

Our mid-month ranking’s number three, Shane-PAIN FC continue to score solidly but fell to sixth in our league table, though the gap back to third is a only fifteen points, so little more than an inspired captain choice away! Seventh in our table, just 4 points further back, is last time’s number two, Herewegoagain, followed closely, two points behind, by new top ten entrant Peps Packers. Mr Bean and Michu’s Grassy Ass make up our top ten, all of whom, we are pleased to note, are within the global top 7000 ranked teams!

A special mention must go to JTFC, who rose fast with a creditable 60 points last week, to 11th place in our rankings, only two points off our top ten, and only a captains choice off ninth spot, but it’s tough to blame anyone for betting on Suarez… Well JTFC, are you a sprinter or a marathon man? We look forward to seeing where you are next update!

The Monthly League

So we reach our first month end, and with it name our first Fantasy Football 247 Monthly League winner. Well, you’d not need Glen Hoddle’s clairvoyant friend to help you guess this one – yes, the scarily good Barntons Bashers had a hell of a month, racking up 473 points, 24 clear of the rest of us! As we wrote above, with that kind of a score you simply have to tip your hat and say well done, luck’s got nothing to do with it. And so we induct B Bash into our monthly Hall of Fame, and wonder who will take the title next time round!

In joint second spot, mid-month number two, The Untouchables and number one, X-treme, scored a very impressive 449 points in December. This would probably top a lot of leagues, but standards are high at FF247, and we want them to stay that way! Up from seventh to fourth spot, and only 4 points behind, is James101, with Serendipity storming up the ranks, delivering 442 points for December to take fifth.

In sixth place for December, is Cookie, another manager who continues to perform solidly in both our leagues. On 437 points and in seventh spot, scoring only one less than Cookie, is our comms genius, Mito. Again, a single point behind, Bryan Munich scored 436 to place eighth for the month, with our top doubles team of elleffcee and inittowinit’s team Aditupem, coming in at ninth with 435 points. Making up our top ten are indecisive fc and inter ma’nan on 434 points.

So, while B-Bash stole the show for the month of December, and was a worthy winner, it’s definitely worth noting that second to tenth spots were separated by a mere 15 points across the month. Everything to play for we think – so bring on the January monthly managers league!

(Many thanks to elleffcee as always, for verifying the monthly league positions – you may notice a slight difference in a couple of the rankings, this is because the monthly standings that are automatically generated do not take all hits into account – clearly these should be factored in to show who’s really performing best.)

Great work gentlemen very very good stuff!! well done to all that are doing superbly, even Cookie 😉 after last season I thought you didn’t know how to actually play this game :worthy:

    The B says:

    is this team worth WCing?

    Marshall – Mannone
    Coleman – Sagna – Clyne – Olsson – Chester
    Hazard – Ozil – Silva – Lallana – Koren
    Suarez – Adebayor – Lukaku

    Bank: 2.3M

After two GWs ill probably do:
Lukaku, Adebayor and Sagna > Bony, Aguero and 4.4M defender. (Depends on how soon Aguero is back, if he is a bit late, ill keep Sagna for 4GWs max)

      migs says:

The B that team is very good I think. especially for the next couple of weeks. I would hold onto that wildcard

      • The B says:

No this is actually the potential WC. Sorry if it seems otherwise, i think i messed up my first sentence there.

    The B says:

This is my current team where FT is already used to bring in Lallana and 3M in the bank.

    Marshall
Coleman – Dawson – Olsson (faces Everton)
Silva – Hazard – Lucas (2 point master) – Lallana
Suarez – Lukaku – Remy (tough fixture)

Subs: Mcgregor – Chester – Walcott (injured) – Collins (injured)

I think i should play WC. No Arsenal/Spurs cover unless i take a hit.

      migs says:

o ok I see. I have just taken a hit to get Walcott out due to his injury because I want to save my wc as I feel that it could really be beneficial in that last week so for me to tell you otherwise would be hypocritical of me. However if you really do not want to take that hit then you should play it as Walcott’s value will drop like a led balloon now and yes arsenal and/or spurs cover is a good idea. Not so sure about Bony over Ade however but you can play that by ear and see how they go. main plan is to get aguero in

      • Alright.Migs, how you doing? who did you get for Wally? I’m struggling with decision; ozil ((only gooner attacking cover) or oscar (have hazard but could double up as Chelsea goals seem to go through one of those two.

        • The B says:

Alex i think you should carry on the transfer with your way of thinking.

Ozil: If you have the funds.
Oscar: If you are short of funds and looking for differential.
Cazorla: If you are in a mood to take a punt.

        • Thanks B, I can afford ozil as long as I do before any price changes to Wally or ozil. Will mean a 4ph but I’m sweet with that.

        • migs says:

Hey NZ! Im good thanks and you pal? I could not afford Ozil otherwise I would have gotten him in so I took a little punt on Eriksen. Was not brave enough to go for Dempsey!!! Like the B said I would carry on with your line of thinking. other option is also Gerrard. Just rad that cabaye could be a major doubt, that coupled with rooney doubt could actually force me to play my wc

        • I’m good thanks mate, living the dream at the beach with my uk famil over; sun, sailing and drinking! Your in the same boat as me; I have them both too. So would you activate this week or give it this GW and see how the land lies? I think I’m going to hold and see how we go from there. Ozil it is for me. Thanks

        • migs says:

Fantastic to hear sounds like good fun! Will probably hold hey. I reckon one out of Rooney or cabaye should at least play so my subs will come into play anyway which is fine.

      • The B says:

Thanks migs, much valuable advice there.

Bony from GW23 could be a good prospect, unless he is not given much game time. Ill see how he plays in coming 2 GWs.

i think your team after wc look better

    • 22.3

The B, I’m with migs here, I do think your WC team is better but I think holding your card for a few weeks will be beneficial in the long run. You seem pretty set though so if your happy with call, go for it smile

      The B says:

      Thanks guys.

Past 2 weeks have been rough for me and cant get any more rotten weeks because it will eventually take me out of top 50K.

I think ill play WC, still deciding, confused. Lol.

I think Ozil and an Arsenal defender will be essential over coming 4GWs.

    WC Team:

    Mignolet-McGregor
    Coleman-Koscielny-Bardsley-Ward-Shaw
    Ozil-Hazard-Lallana-Silva-Mutch
    Adebayor-Suarez-Lukaku

Enough funds left in the Bank to Lukaku – Aguero

    Maybe Change the keeper combo?

    Thanks

      migs says:

Ripcurl, seems a very decent tem hey. Pool always annoys me as their defence is not that bad but then they always seem to let the odd goal in which is annoying. you have exposure from most teams in keepers and defence so its a nice mix. cant really think who else could go in there other than Ruddy from Norwich? do you need to save funds?

      • Ripcurl82 says:

I don’t need to save funds.

        I was thinking Marshall/Ruddy myself

Could always downgrade 0zil once Ramsey is fit but he will probably be on fire with no Walcott

        Thanks
