FF247 Site Team Game-week 5 FPL Tips
Welcome to the FF247 Site Team Game-week 5 FPL Tips article. Well, that was fun while it lasted. Our rank took a proper beating last week unfortunately, so thank gawd our transfer of Costa worked otherwise we’d be in deep poo poo. We scored just 38pts in GW4 vs an average of 43, which saw us fall from a rank of 22,450 down to 78,944. There are very few highlights for us to be brag about – Costa was clearly the best performer with his 12pt return from a Sunday in Wales, while Baines chipped in with a clean sheet and two baps on Monday night at Sunderland. Zlatan was the only other performer who managed to notch more than 2pts as the Swede scored his customary goal in the derby but blotted his copybook with a reckless yellow card. Pape Souare was so desperate to get out of our team (or Pardew’s) that he smashed up his car on the M4 and looks to be missing for a while. So, much to ponder for this week.
TRANSFER DECISION THIS WEEK
Sometimes in FPL your transfer stares in you in the face, it’s an easy call, you do it and walk away happy. Other times you look and see so many combinations and possibilities that it actually seems impossible to pick the right one. The latter was where we ended up this week. The reason for this was that we had not only £4.0m in the bank (£3.0m of that being Kun money) but also 2 FT’s to play with and the possibility of a wildcard to utilise at some point.
We had that many possible scenarios and suggestions floating around that we had to strip it back to the basics and these were our realistic options this week –
Using just one transfer
– Sell Gray for a one week punt on Iheanacho
This would leave us with enough next week to swap both him and Costa for Kun and possibly Benteke depending on price changes.
– Sell Souare for someone.
We never got as far as discussing who!
Using two transfers
– Sell Costa and Gray for some combo of Kane / Lukaku / Iheanacho
This was dependant on then wildcarding next week and the theory was that we could just do anything this week really given that the Kun money was up for grabs and wouldn’t matter. Basically the fun option!
Eventually it was decided that a WC wasn’t really necessary at this stage for us and also the one Liverpool fan we have on the panel insisted that we keep Costa because he was adamant he would score against them! And on that we couldn’t really disagree. And so we went back to the one transfer option and Iheanacho won the vote given the limited options at that price range and staying within our allocated ‘Kun fund budget’. He is purely a one week punt and we wouldn’t recommend people follow suit unless you have a clear exit strategy like we do – 2 FT’s next week with the intention of selling him for Kun along with another move. And having the funds to do so.
Our transfer this week – Sell Gray, Buy Iheanacho
THE TEAM IN FULL FOR GW5 –
Our captain is Zlatan Ibrahimovic and our vice-captain is Kelechi Iheanacho
Now that took some spelling! It also took a good deal of work arriving at the decision too. Full disclosure here we were about 2 minutes away from a vote deadline and young Kelechi had it in his grasp. And then America woke up! A certain fantasy manager from across the pond had fallen asleep at the wheel of his lawn mower but woke up in a start at the sound of a hundred WhatsApp messages and as he wiped the sleep from his eyes he then lazily typed ‘Ibra’ and that was that, Zlatan had his majority. Hey, what can you do, said manager is after all on the verge of finishing 2nd in MLS for the 2nd year running so we do kind of have to listen to his wisdom sometimes.
Given our rank thus far it probably isn’t the worst decision to stick with the pack and given that Zlatan’s ownership is so high and that one would expect a good majority to go with him this week as captain then if he was to get a good haul it would do us a fair bit of damage. On the other hand the thinking with the complete differential was probably all about how much ground we would make up if he nailed it. It’s a fine balance. Let’s hope we got it right or the lawnmower man may be getting some stick!
If anyone is interested in following the site teams progress then you can do so here and we wish you all the best of luck this week with your own teams.
Hey guys. I can’t see any obvious transfers here (maybe Lukaku in for Rooney) thought I wouldn’t mind some Spurs exposure this GW even if it’s in defence. Should I take our De Gea for Lloris or do the Lukaku move?
Chilly, I wouldn’t bother swapping Lloris in for de Gea but Lukaku in for Rooney could be a good move.
Agree with Kop, chilly
Cheers guys
Or Rooney for Iheanacho perhaps?
Trouble with that one is that he’d have to be replaced again next week. That’s unless there’s a WC planned.
Fair point.
Morning all. really not sure on what to do with my team. Should I wc? Or Does it make sense to drop Townsend for Capoue considering the latter is playing for United or should I just drop grey for Iheanacho? I would appreciate all the inputs
Waltine,
Gray to Iheanacho is the preferred move for the site team. I would probably suggest the same.
Thanks cookie. Do yiu think I should take a hit for Capoue or leave Townsend on the bench and play 3-4-3.
Waltine, no don’t hit for Capoue for goodness sake. Bench Redmond or Townsend.
Redmond at home versus Swansea? Bench him? What kind of advice is that? LOL! :p
Who would you bench then Raz?
still waiting…….
I am benching Capoue.
In that team, Capoue or Gray. I would bench Capoue before Gray, even though they showed little he is still on penalties and anything can happen in a game. Maybe Burnley with Defour finally finds some fire within themselves.
He is selling Gray and doesn’t own Capoue……
Well bench the person that is in place of Capoue? If he has less potential than Capoue and he was willing to take a hit? :p
That is Townsend….home to Stoke.
Aaah yes, I def. start Redmond at home versus Swansea over Townsend at home versus Stoke.
Let’s hope you are right, I am a Redmond owner.
Ok. Thanks a lot guys. No hit ????
Device having a mind of its own. Was confirming I’m not taking hits so the ???? Is irrelevant
What about deploy the AOA chips ? Good time for you ?
It doesn’t look like you need to wildcard just yet. Your transfers will depend on if you are planning on getting Kun next week. Townsend to Capoue seems like a good idea, Also, mahrez to ozil is an option
hello guys,
please help me out, i’ve been on a business trip for the whole week and couldn’t do my homework in terms of FPL
i’m not really comfortable with a few players in my team but want to hold the WC..
initially wanted to drop Hazard for Sanchez as the latter has the fixtures on his side, but letting Hazard go is still a crazy move…
your suggestions are welcome
1FT, 4.5 ItB
The only player I’d be looking at there would be Zaza not sure if he’s the best player. I’d leave Haz in as well.
Hi dawids, Zaza stood out for me there as well. Assuming that the 4.5m partly turns Vardy into Kun next week and that Zaza is about 7m I’d probably use what’s left of it to get someone like Benteke.
Could do Zaza to Benteke.
Stoke at home, most conceded team in the league.
Morning everyone, just seen some of the comments that Koeman said yesterday in regards to Barkley and it makes me think Barkley may not start at the weekend. Anyone else think that or is it just me??
Matt, I think they can be interpreted either way, but he certainly didn’t hold back!
Yeah that’s what I was thinking as well just wanted to see what others thought of it. It seems like Koeman will drop Barkley if he has another bad game. I think that’s good though it makes the young ‘superstars’ realise that they have to earn their place instead of just getting hyped up by the media.
I think you have hit the nail on the head with your last sentence – Koeman won’t suffer fools and Barkley will I’m sure now be aware that he is not guaranteed to play just because of the public clamour about him.
This will no doubt end up with City buying him and turning him into a great.
Hopefully that will improve Barkley and then improve England if all the managers take that approach but it seems only a few are like that sadly.
Yeah I have a feeling City will try buy him in the summer if he has another good year. They will need a replacement for Yaya or atleast that is how they will put it but really it’s just that they need homegrown players.
They could of just taught Hart how to pass the ball if they need homegrown players that much!
I can’t decide on that one Matt. My initial thoughts were that he was at risk. Having read the comments I’m more inclined to think he starts now. Pretty much said he was rubbish but that they’ve gone through it with him in detail as to why. The next logical step on that is to send him back out to put the learnings into practice. Be funny if they pulled him off at HT again though
Seriously though this feels like make or break time for him. Can he take it on board. Either way it’s fairly impressive and strong management.
Cheers Init. Wanted to hear some Everton perspective on this. I think it is make or break and like I was saying to Cookie I really like this move because it makes Barkley improve his game. All Barkley has done lately is justify Big Sam’s decision to not pick him for England.
One thing we know about the Dutch managers / players who all came through their system when he did is that they are well versed in how to nurture a young talent and make the player realise his true potential. It’s great to see.
It really is!! I just wish all managers were like that but sadly not enough are.
I think Barkley has had the proverbial shock and will play – but GHH if he fails! having said that I did not trust him last season and nor this so not for my team !
Yes Matt I have Barkley don’t thk he will start maybe come on bit of a worry 😉
We’ll have to wait and see it looks like haha
Quick ?
A Bolasie
B Mirallas
Bolasie
Bolasie
I would like to say Bolasie, but Koeman seems prefer Mirallas with playing full for 90 minutes.
