FF247 Site Team Game-week 5 FPL Tips
Welcome to the FF247 Site Team Game-week 5 FPL Tips article. Well, that was fun while it lasted. Our rank took a proper beating last week unfortunately, so thank gawd our transfer of Costa worked otherwise we’d be in deep poo poo. We scored just 38pts in GW4 vs an average of 43, which saw us fall from a rank of 22,450 down to 78,944. There are very few highlights for us to be brag about – Costa was clearly the best performer with his 12pt return from a Sunday in Wales, while Baines chipped in with a clean sheet and two baps on Monday night at Sunderland. Zlatan was the only other performer who managed to notch more than 2pts as the Swede scored his customary goal in the derby but blotted his copybook with a reckless yellow card. Pape Souare was so desperate to get out of our team (or Pardew’s) that he smashed up his car on the M4 and looks to be missing for a while. So, much to ponder for this week.
TRANSFER DECISION THIS WEEK
Sometimes in FPL your transfer stares in you in the face, it’s an easy call, you do it and walk away happy. Other times you look and see so many combinations and possibilities that it actually seems impossible to pick the right one. The latter was where we ended up this week. The reason for this was that we had not only £4.0m in the bank (£3.0m of that being Kun money) but also 2 FT’s to play with and the possibility of a wildcard to utilise at some point.
We had that many possible scenarios and suggestions floating around that we had to strip it back to the basics and these were our realistic options this week –
Using just one transfer
– Sell Gray for a one week punt on Iheanacho
This would leave us with enough next week to swap both him and Costa for Kun and possibly Benteke depending on price changes.
– Sell Souare for someone.
We never got as far as discussing who!
Using two transfers
– Sell Costa and Gray for some combo of Kane / Lukaku / Iheanacho
This was dependant on then wildcarding next week and the theory was that we could just do anything this week really given that the Kun money was up for grabs and wouldn’t matter. Basically the fun option!
Eventually it was decided that a WC wasn’t really necessary at this stage for us and also the one Liverpool fan we have on the panel insisted that we keep Costa because he was adamant he would score against them! And on that we couldn’t really disagree. And so we went back to the one transfer option and Iheanacho won the vote given the limited options at that price range and staying within our allocated ‘Kun fund budget’. He is purely a one week punt and we wouldn’t recommend people follow suit unless you have a clear exit strategy like we do – 2 FT’s next week with the intention of selling him for Kun along with another move. And having the funds to do so.
Our transfer this week – Sell Gray, Buy Iheanacho
THE TEAM IN FULL FOR GW5 –
Our captain is Zlatan Ibrahimovic and our vice-captain is Kelechi Iheanacho
Now that took some spelling! It also took a good deal of work arriving at the decision too. Full disclosure here we were about 2 minutes away from a vote deadline and young Kelechi had it in his grasp. And then America woke up! A certain fantasy manager from across the pond had fallen asleep at the wheel of his lawn mower but woke up in a start at the sound of a hundred WhatsApp messages and as he wiped the sleep from his eyes he then lazily typed ‘Ibra’ and that was that, Zlatan had his majority. Hey, what can you do, said manager is after all on the verge of finishing 2nd in MLS for the 2nd year running so we do kind of have to listen to his wisdom sometimes.
Given our rank thus far it probably isn’t the worst decision to stick with the pack and given that Zlatan’s ownership is so high and that one would expect a good majority to go with him this week as captain then if he was to get a good haul it would do us a fair bit of damage. On the other hand the thinking with the complete differential was probably all about how much ground we would make up if he nailed it. It’s a fine balance. Let’s hope we got it right or the lawnmower man may be getting some stick!
If anyone is interested in following the site teams progress then you can do so here and we wish you all the best of luck this week with your own teams.
Afternoon All,
After an abysmal result last week (36 points) hoping will be better this week.
Gambling with Sterling as captain, would like to give it to Hazard but it’s early game which I don’t like.
1FT
big fat zero ITB
Any suggestion will be much appreciated ?
Cheers
Ichal
Lots of good options for captain there. Sterling is as good as any. Good luck.
Not been on much this week after my disgusting score last week. Play Capoue or Gray? Thought Gray would be suspended
That’s a tough one! I would play Capou
Thanks that’s what I have currently though weren’t expecting the choice
Hard one but I am playing Gray. Gray is still the striker and he is on penalties. This is the season of the penalties. 😉
Hmm you usually get the 50/50 decisions right Raz unlike Cookie
Lol Smash, don’t f-ck with Cookie. It’s all about luck. I will decide later tonight. For me Capoue is still a fifth mid.
And I must say, the Burnley attack has been weak. Few shots on target and such. Good thing they have Defour. Maybe Gray can find some of his pre-season form back, he has been quite disappointing.
They have had 7 shots on target that’s terrible
My lineup for the weekend. Hoping Barkley plays at least 60 minutes this week. And that Hazard can make Liverpool’s defence look as bad as it is.
Hello,
Redmond or Bolasie or another player for 6.3?
Bolasie. Crunch week for Redmond in my team this week I think
Bolasie
How the hell are people considering benching Redmond? He was rested yesterday and still played 20 minutes. He’ll be a starter for sure versus Swansea, at home. That’s like a dream fixture. 😉
Capoue scored a few times but he’s not a forward and he’s playing United next, if anything like yesterday they will park the bus, Mourinho style. Don’t see them scoring more than once and will Capoue still be amongst the scorers?
I can see Soton winning with 2-1 or 3-0 or even 4-0 versus Swansea.
What to do with my team? No transfers left.
Maybe play Capou ahead of Barkley? Who may not play and give you 1 pointer? Alao Watford seems to be more attacking and at home with a player in form, otherwise it looks good
Like the Everton presser was about Barkley for 4 minutes or something. Koeman must know the immense pressure on the kid, doubt he’ll do the same tomorrow, pretty sure he won’t. Capoue playing United, I don’t see Watford scoring more than 1 goal, do you?
Bench Redmond? :poof:
How was United yesterday Cookie? The billion dollar team versus the one dollar team. Did they win with 10-0?
Well you know the score Raziel and you were on here last evening slagging them so I presume you were watching?!
Actually no, couldn’t be bothered. I heard what Mou had to say after hte game, saying the completely dominated it, which many didn’t agree with.
Also heard that Depay was awful, the 20 minutes he did play.
Anyway, looked at the teamsheet and they played with their top team, only real changes were Blind to Smalling and Ibra to Rashford and Mhki to ummm Martial (Mkhi was terrible his first start). Also heard Pogba again was awful. How can you have the self-proclaimed best manager in the world and spend the most and still not beat a shitty team like Feyenoord? They spend like 1 million on transfers, Pogba alone was 105 million?
They deserve it, I think it’s crazy and unfair how football these days is like. Feyenoord versus ManU could have been a cup final 20 years or more back, same with Ajax whom played Panathinaikos. Only ManU is amongst the big clubs now though, and tha’ts purely because of money and financial unfair play. Pisses me off. Doesn’t mean I don’t like the EPL, but I don’t like the way things are ran.
They did dominate without really creating a lot if that makes sense. Feyenoord scored on the break and that was it. United didn’t deserve to lose but at the same time weren’t impressive.
They made 8 changes to the team that played the derby mate. Only DDG, Bailly and Pogba started both games.
I didn’t see much of Depay as my boy woke up ill at that point so was dealing with him.
Dominating without creating anything make it so that they deserved to lose. It is like I said yesterday, more money was spent on the Pogba transfer than Feyenoord probably spent on players in their entire history.
As for the players starting, many of those players did start the first few games, such as Mata. No Rooney is a good thing and Mkhi was terrible versus City. Only one missed was Ibra. He came on after 63 minutes though, still enough time to force something. I’m just honest, it’s a bloody disgrace you didn’t put Feyenoord away. :p
I know Raz, it’s disgraceful we didn’t score 15. I am going off to punish myself immediately.
…
Raz, you need to get your haircut mate 😉
I actually do, thanks.
Sorry Cookie, Just really annoyed how football is being arranged, European football. I=I support the EPL and usually also support the UK teams in the CL. But at the moment the discrepancy between what the big countries have to spend (Germany/Spain/England/Italy) and what we can spend in the Netherlands, is crazy. back in the days we could fall back on our talent, but even though get snatched away. Just to not get any playing time, look at Fosu Mensah, for instance. Complete waste of talent, back in the days they would develop at teams like Ajax and PSV and he could become an important force for the Dutch national team. Now… well… now the big teams buy these players and 95 percent fails but has a big car and their families have good jobs in London or Manchester. F-ing crazy and annoying.
Anyway, not only can’t we compete in Europe, the development of our players is also gone.
Don’t apologise Raziel, you’re 100% right. Sadly our game has become a business. But not sadly, results like last night still happen which retains the romance in the sport.
Always good to see the underdog win – just not last night 😉
I really want TFM to get a chance – he looked so good when he featured last season – hopefully he plays next time in Europa or next week in the League Cup.
The Feyenoord goal was offside.
Yeah, I usually go with the underdogs. I like Mourinho, many can’t stand him but I think he’s funny. Prefer him over a Pep. Klopp is the real maestro though. What makes United entertaining this season is Ibrahimovic. Pogba was overpaid though, he is no Messi/Ronaldo or even Bale. He’s a string mid. But damn, at that money.
Yeah, I heard the Feyenoord goal was offside, GEEPEE. 😉
Like I said, didn’t watch the game. The Dutch football is at a point that it’s hard to view games. But PSV did very well aganst Ateltico and their night got ruined by the English ref, Atkinson? Or what is he called again? Cancelled a PSV goal and made several other big mistakes, like really big mistakes. It was like he was literally supporting Atletico. 😉
Yeah playing Redmond this week. Not sure if I’ll be keeping him long term but this is a decent fixture
Also can someone let me know if my team is linked properly, thanks!
It is linked, job well done mate.
Cheers!
